I absolutely agree with you! Her mom even entered her into Abbys Dance Challenge without her knowledge, she was forced into being on the shows without being initially asked. Her experiences have a huge impact on her life,, her mom is partially to blame on this. She said some years ago her and her mom still share a bank account, What she earns is not even all truly hers. She will eventually come around but will more than likely need to step away from her parents and move on.
I hope that she can look back at this in a few years and realize that she’s got a lot of issues to work on
Exploitation is when you don’t give someone permission to film you. Jojo gave permission by signing a contract on dance moms and after she left she helped her mom with her brand making millions of little girls happy with her bows from Claire’s.

I am a dance teacher. I have been for 10 years. Our studio is incredibly successful and our dancers go on to dance with D1 colleges and professional performance companies. I was raised in a dance studio. I am furious and appalled at this idea that dance has to be toxic and abusive to be successful. We are strict and we teach discipline but we never belittle, degrade or mentally abuse our dancers. We don't have to resort to that kind of behavior. When you inspire and lead by example, you raise kids who are confident, supportive of each other and hard working. Never in my life would I say this is "normal" in the dance community.
I think the anger on the show is about her being a child. That it IS Hatefful and Toxic to MAKE children Dance, Sing, do anything to exploit them. Dance is Lovely. Filming your tired child dancing is abuse.
Our studio definitely walks the line with belittling the dancers who aren’t as good as the other dancers. Some of the teachers are just so mean that I’ve asked my daughter if she wants to record them teach a class so I can see. I haven’t gotten to do it yet though.

That’s good but I really do think that you are in the minority. I grew up in the dance world and then worked in stage management for a few years and I can assure you I’ve never met or seen a dance studio without toxic dance teaching staff. Especially those more senior teachers of more successful studios. The number of children I’ve seen bought to tears and then expected to get themselves together, go out there and put on a perfect performance.
The lady running that interview had to have been struggling so damn hard to keep a normal face while talking to her with that damn hat on

Josh, it is only actor kids who run the show and boss their parents around. I see it everyday at my work when kids come in to jump in the trampoline park. The parents just follow them around, let them break the rules and do whatever they want. Kids these days are like free range chickens....I call them free range chicken kids. The world is changing, and not for the better.

She's like a middle school girl....planning her children's names. Did she play M.A.S.H. to determine the starting letters? She was heading to medical school at age 15 (she was very smart, Hollywood changed that)...she needs to go to college and discover something else.
