It feels kind of wrong though, like profitting off of someone with severe mental health problems. She isn't lying at the beginning of the interview - Richard admitted that he was intrigued by her at the beginning, followed her home and she saw him. Then his stupid coworkers were winding him up by calling her "his girlfriend he always talks about, the one you say looks like a supermodel" and she believed every word of it. So in her eyes, he was the one obsessed with her.
I had a stalker in 2003. I went to lunch at work one day and forgot to turn my badge around so you couldn’t see my name. We were warned repeatedly to turn our badges around when we left the hospital but, I just forgot. He walked right up to my car window and told me I was the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen in person and I saw him look at my badge. A week later my best friend called me from a doctor’s office at the professional building by the hospital where I was a nurse. He was going building to building asking if people knew me. He had walked into my friends office asking if she knew me. He used to park outside of my house and watch me and I thought it was someone visiting my neighbor, so he followed me home. He would wait until nobody was at the nurse’s station and he’d leave me flowers, a bracelet, letters etc. It took about 2 months but, he was arrested and eventually convicted and went to jail. I wasn’t his first. He had done the same thing in Florida where he used to be a college professor. I can’t conceive of how much worse all that could have been if he were able to track my car like people can now, or figure out my personal relationships by staking me online. I had internet then but it certainly wasn’t what it is today. His wife screamed “wh*re!* at me in court as if somehow it was MY fault…? An entire family of psychos. I know 100% the sick feeling of figuring out you’re being stalked.

I have a psychotic condition so I kept being told I was in psychosis and then....I found a picture of a male masterbating over me while I was asleep in my messenger sent folder from my phone 🤷♀️😲 months laters it came out that it was a friend of mine who was stalking using drones aswell as entering my home while I was there alone and I lived in a three bed two bath home alone , he drove me insane in and out of hospital for a year when I finally found put it was him i saw him a hour later and i said i know its you whos been stalking me i dont know how to process this please leave and a week later i was arrested for assault and put in prison for three weeks and lost my home and everything i owned because of that sentence and i was innocent ofc , be careful guys ❤

Wanted to add: Her non-verbal communication speaks VOLUMES. Repeating his questions back to him, in order to give herself time to think of a lie, speak volumes. Plus, her "Mmmmmm. Mhm. Hmmmmm. Mhm." shows her frustration that she has been outed and now she is having to defend her actions with more lies. She is now coming up with another character of herself to make herself feel better.
Here’s my two cents- she came willingly on the show trying to bully Richard Gadd more by basically denying anything that happens in the series. To people who are saying Netflix lied and Richard lied, they said it’s a true story but kinda embellished, I feel like it’s missing the point. To again victimize a person for coming out and telling his story and then getting backlash is just taking narcissism to a whole new level . From what I’ve heard, his story is questionable, they don’t say embellished on the show it clearly says ‘this is a true story’, had it said based on true events that would be different. And regardless, Netflix had a duty of care to at least attempt to hide her identify, instead they chose an actress who resembles her, had her talk like her, and repeated word for word social media posts making it easy for anyone to instantly find and recognise her, putting this lady in danger. I am just angry that Richard is going to be paying a price for those things while already suffering if even one of those incidents is true. The facebook posts alone. I watched it like 2 weeks ago and I still can hear the tone of her saying " baby reindeer " in my head, is crazy!. The actress who plays Martha deserves an Oscar because she nail it. I wondered about that at first too. From what I gather, her version of events is that she did call him Baby Reindeer, like she states here. Eventually he accused her of being a stalker at the bar. He told people they know that she was stalking him. Years later, she “randomly” came across an article about him performing a play and baby reindeer was referenced so she knew then the play was about her. And now, the show of the same name is how she’s saying she knows it’s about her. What I think is funny is she says to Piers that Martha can’t be her. 😂

This is something narcissists do to show how "connected" they are to powerful ppl. I had a restraining order against my abuser for 3 years. Honestly, it didn't make much of a difference. They gaslight police, judges, everyone. Mine was my ex, arrested for beating me in front of 5 people. If a different cop comes when they violate, even with a no contact OOP in my hand, (and a previous conviction!!!) he was not arrested. He followed me to cocerts, drove 50 plus miles to an Amish store in the middle of nowhere where I was camping hoping to find me, and then bragged about it on social media (only store in area we get food at when camping there). He did, it scared the crap out of me. No consequences. They are master manipulators. Don't trust an OOP (restraining order) protect yourself. The police convinced me to get it, the order (I lived with my abuser for 10 years) but if police that didn't make the original arrest respond to a violation, they will often downplay it, give the offender a warning and that's that. It's supposed to be an instant arrest, that is what the police told me when I got it. In reality, it is not that simple. It sucks.

Wanted to add: Her non-verbal communication speaks VOLUMES. Repeating his questions back to him, in order to give herself time to think of a lie, speak volumes. Plus, her "Mmmmmm. Mhm. Hmmmmm. Mhm." shows her frustration that she has been outed and now she is having to defend her actions with more lies. She is now coming up with another character of herself to make herself feel better.
Here’s my two cents- she came willingly on the show trying to bully Richard Gadd more by basically denying anything that happens in the series. To people who are saying Netflix lied and Richard lied, they said it’s a true story but kinda embellished, I feel like it’s missing the point. To again victimize a person for coming out and telling his story and then getting backlash is just taking narcissism to a whole new level . I don’t take bullying lightly no matter what percentage is embellished for dramatization purposes. Bullying is bullying. I support Richard Gadd.
From what I’ve heard, his story is questionable, they don’t say embellished on the show it clearly says ‘this is a true story’, had it said based on true events that would be different. And regardless, Netflix had a duty of care to at least attempt to hide her identify, instead they chose an actress who resembles her, had her talk like her, and repeated word for word social media posts making it easy for anyone to instantly find and recognise her, putting this lady in danger. I am not defending her or anything she did but this is not right or legal

I am just angry that Richard is going to be paying a price for those things while already suffering if even one of those incidents is true. The facebook posts alone. We know he didn’t lie and has all the proofs. But it makes me angry that he now has to go through all the stuff again to prove himself. My point is that even if one incident is true , it’s horrible.

I’m sorry but if you write a series and say it’s a true story then the majority of it should be based on truth and what actually happened. Especially when there’s such big claims being made. I don’t doubt a lot of what she did, but it should have stated that it was ‘based on a true story’ or something, not ‘this IS a true story’
There is a caveat in the credits about certain things being fictionalised for dramatic purposes.

I watched it like 2 weeks ago and I still can hear the tone of her saying " baby reindeer " in my head, is crazy!. The actress who plays Martha deserves an Oscar because she nail it. I am from the same area as Richard and he often returns home to speak with pupils at his old highschool about his work and experiences. He is a very talented guy and definitely did not deserve to go through what he did.

I wondered about that at first too. From what I gather, her version of events is that she did call him Baby Reindeer, like she states here. Eventually he accused her of being a stalker at the bar. He told people they know that she was stalking him. Years later, she “randomly” came across an article about him performing a play and baby reindeer was referenced so she knew then the play was about her. And now, the show of the same name is how she’s saying she knows it’s about her. What I think is funny is she says to Piers that Martha can’t be her. 😂

YES! Contact the police and file reports and do everything you can! I had a stalker and it’s insane what they can do to you. Mine ended up being my father-in-law and to this day things would be SO MUCH BETTER if I had followed through and had him arrested.

This is something narcissists do to show how "connected" they are to powerful ppl. My mother is a diagnosed narc, and when we would go back to our country of origin, where we had not lived in 10-plus years. she would throw my father's name and rank around when she wanted to get things done. It was so embarrassing and I was only 10-11. They did not know him as they had come in after he retired. The adults would look over at me with pity.. She would tell everyone we were visiting from the United States. She made me cringe, even as a child.

She’s insanely contradictory. I barely knew him, we were old friends. I never contacted him, well maybe a few times. I know nothing about the show, oh yeah I’ve been ‘told’ that happened. Why did she do this interview? Even if she wasn’t as insane as she was depicted in the show, she’s clearly not innocent either. Very strange woman.
I think it’s super apparent that she’s watched it because every single time that Piers brings up a scene from the show and explains it to her (under the assumption that she hasn’t watched it), she always responds with “oh yeah I heard about that when the reporters were talking to me” or “someone’s daughter watched it and told me about it” or “your staff were actually just asking me about that in the back”.
There are times she doesn’t do that too. Like when Piers asks her is Gaad gave her tea and she responds with “they never give anything away for free.” Hmm… how’d you know he said in the show that he’d give you free drinks if you haven’t watched the show?
The extra details she is adding whilst answering questions, shows she's trying to over compensate because of the lying.

I had a restraining order against my abuser for 3 years. Honestly, it didn't make much of a difference. They gaslight police, judges, everyone. Mine was my ex, arrested for beating me in front of 5 people. If a different cop comes when they violate, even with a no contact OOP in my hand, (and a previous conviction!!!) he was not arrested. He followed me to cocerts, drove 50 plus miles to an Amish store in the middle of nowhere where I was camping hoping to find me, and then bragged about it on social media (only store in area we get food at when camping there). He did, it scared the crap out of me. No consequences. They are master manipulators. Don't trust an OOP (restraining order) protect yourself. The police convinced me to get it, the order (I lived with my abuser for 10 years) but if police that didn't make the original arrest respond to a violation, they will often downplay it, give the offender a warning and that's that. It's supposed to be an instant arrest, that is what the police told me when I got it. In reality, it is not that simple. It sucks.
