    As a Special Educator, nothing upsets me more than parents who drop their kids off in states like how Priscilla dropped Abby off (bloody nose, messed brief, in the middle of an aggressive meltdown etc) as if we are their babysitters/parents. I would say that that it is the IDD that makes her developmental age younger. I say this because my son has autism and I know many children and adults with autism, it hurts them when people think that autism means the same thing as intellectual disability. Individuals with autism can go on to live independent lives. My son’s teacher had a student who didn’t speak until the age of 12 and was able to go to college eventually. People with autism learn things differently and are more sensitive to sensory issues. My whole world is learning about autism and how to help my son, and there are so many people who don’t really understand what autism is. My tea her had the quote, “Autism isn’t a disability, it’s a different ability” all over her classroom. I think exposing these people is important, their daughter deserves way more than this.

      @AndiSchneider Před 3 lety +9

      @@patriciareed6948 Yes, there are different degrees, my child is still working very hard to be verbal. But, it’s never impossible for something to happen. There is a book written by a guy who had autism and was completely nonverbal until he was 19. He wrote about how people thought he was stupid and didn’t understand what was going on because he couldn’t verbalize, but he did. In Abby’s case she isn’t just dealing with autism, she is diagnosed with IDD, which is not anywhere close to autism. People with autism can learn, most just learn in different ways, and it takes lots of therapies and devotion from caregivers. My home is covered with picture boards, visual aides, talking tablet, and a sensory friendly toys and objects. I can admit that I didn’t understand what autism was until my son was being diagnosed and I read whatever I could get my hands on and then joined a support group for moms of kids with special needs. I don’t believe anyone is beyond learning. I know so many moms who won’t give up, and I’m so proud to know them.

When some people make his opinions feel invalidated or baby talk him we tell him "your a grown man with a driver's license you know what you want and don't want. Don't listen to them." Obviously he needs help with some things which is why he doesn't live on his own but he is capable of so much more than people think. I loved the family at first - but then I found videos of them sharing things doctors said at Abbie’s appointments about personal things like periods, etc. and that’s when I said this is a bit nuts... Abbie is non-verbal, did she consent to having all that information put out there? The over-sharing of info scares me. Sure - share about autism but it’s definitely shifted over the years towards exploitation... very sad!

    In my experience, even non verbal children will find a way to communicate with you if you take the time to get to know them. Wether its physically taking you to what they want, or just a look, if you look carefully, you can see what they're getting at. It doesn't make it any less valid than someone saying it. She doesn't want to he there, listen and learn, her 'voice' matters, even if it is silent

      I’m only at 31 minutes into this video, but so far, all I have seen is Pricilla talking AT Abbie. She’s not talking to communicate with Abbie. At the very least, Abbie can sign “yes” and “no”. There was zero attempt to actually talk to Abbie and check in with her.
      Pricilla’s facial expressions with Abbie show me that Pricilla is making every situation about how much Abbie is burdening her day.

      And you all know what Abbie wants? You have "taken the time" to read what she's saying with her eyes and body language and how sad that her own family just has no idea? I understand that people love to judge what they see in a little easily digestible bite of video but c'mon people! There are so many autism families who have been helped and encouraged and uplifted by some of Fathering Autisms videos. Not everything is as black and white as so many of you make it out to be. Can people be less than perfect in certain areas and still deeply love their families and want to actually make a difference in the world? Of course they can because we are ALL a mixture of good and bad. Life isn't cartoon villains and damsels in distress. Sometimes its attention seeking know it alls and superficial nincompoops! But maybe through fate or divine design those people manage to do some good and encourage and lift up some people who really need it! Look at life differently, people! We're all perfectly imperfect. Of course I think that Priscilla loves Abbie but I don’t think she likes her or wants her in their home. I think she is tired of this and would rather Abbie be in a group home but they can’t put her in a home bc they need Abbie for content. I literally get so upset. One thing about people with autism is that they pick up on facial expressions, difference in tones, etc... I think PM doesn’t get up to put Abbie’s seatbelt on in that video is bc she’s scared Abbie will attack her. Abbie knows who cares for her. Yes her dad is bigger and kids tend to hit men less due to that; I cannot fault PM for not wanting to get attacked but she’d rather not have to interact with Abbie, so Abbie disliking PM helps her be lazy and work on her MLM. I was once a "leghumper", but about 6 months ago changed. I wrote a comment on fathering autism saying I could not do what you guys do. He made a whole video stating that Abbie is not a burden. I felt that was an attack on me. But realizing that they constantly have respite and people to take care of her 24/7 of course she would not be a burden. It's pretty obvious that Priscilla doesn't do anything. The most she does is put weeks old leftovers in her lunch box for school, he can't even go to drop her off at the school because Abigail will attack her. Most of the time Asa has to drop her off, or goes with Priscilla to drop her off. Garbage people indeed.
    They spent thousands of dollars to remodel a kitchen, and yet they go out for every single meal. They hemorrhage money every single day. They are constantly showing Dunkin coffee cups everywhere, hoping to get that sponsorship. They even try to get them on Facebook by tagging them trying to get leghumpers to tag them too. This is Asa's mission he wants that sponsorships so bad.
    Please take a look at last week's bike video where he literally straps Abigail to her bike that he bought her for her birthday, Abigail does not want to be on the bike. If that was the one video that made me not want to watch them if I was a leghumper that would be it for me.

    I have to admit that I do watch their vlog but I also agree with you on Pricilla. You absolutely never see her doing anything in regard to teach Abbie anything. Asa takes all of that on himself. He teaches her how to do the dishes, how to set the table, he's the only one I've ever seen helping her with her school work and he's the one that gets up and gets her dressed, fed, and her hair done. Pricilla can't even do her hair? Yes that is lazy. Pricilla claims to have had weight loss surgery yet you always see her eating ice cream, chocolate, Duncan Donuts coffee and donuts etc. I'm not knocking her, as I am about to have the same surgery myself. However, according to my Doctor, you cannot eat those types of food or those kinds of drinks and expect to not pack the pounds back on. I'm having the surgery so that I am able to be around to watch my grandkids grow up. I want to be able to play with them and go on field trips etc. Then there is the whole Summer thing. You cannot sit and tell people that she is just there to help Abbie when she is always around Isiah. Then they move her in? Let's just be honest here and let your followers know that you've moved her in more for Isiah than for Abbie. They are a couple and everyone knows it. My issue with Asa isn't so much that he's making bank off of his daughters disability but that he throws it in the faces of his fans. It's like look at me I have a jazzed out golf cart, a pool, a boat, I can take 10 trips in less than a year, I have every possible computer, microphone, editing software, etc, and now they are looking to buy a motor home? All at the expense and cost of their daughter. No wonder CPS has been called on them at least twice. Abbie should have been removed just for the way Pricilla treats her. The woman literally walks into a room and greets the dogs before Abbie, she will walk by Abbie without even acknowledging that she's in the same room with her. The just for the sake of the vlog will tell Abbie that she's done a good job and ask for a kiss that you can see on her face that she really doesn't want. No wonder Abbie can't stand her.

      Can I also add that I think they wrongfully withhold food from Abbie. I am pretty sure Abbie always has food on the brain because that sweet young lady is friggin hungry! Maybe they are afraid Abbie will become obese like the parents, but I feel so sorry for Abbie. Even when they finally get to vlogging mealtime, Abbie scarfs down her food like a stray dog who hasn’t eaten in weeks. @@Mamajo864 They lock her in her room?! Omg! Most definitely a fire hazard and just plain cruel!! Now that her face isn’t blurred out, I can see how beautiful and innocent she is, but she is regularly being hurt emotionally by her selfish & greedy parents. I don’t see love for them in her face. Maybe a little in her eyes. Having had a severely handicapped brother till his death a month before his 8th birthday, it hurts me tremendously to see what these parents are doing to Abby. Her significance is nothing but a source of income to them. I helped my single mom so much with my brother I had to grow up fast and lost a large part of my childhood due to the help my mom needed (we were too poor to pay for extra help) but I wouldn’t change it for any amount of money because it made me the person I am today and I can sleep at night knowing how much unconditional love we gave him and you could see in his face (he couldn’t communicate or sign) how much he loved us. She deserves a family with the love and patience to work with her. Love conquers all. They don’t love her even one fourth as much as my family loved my brother. The only camera he saw was one to take pictures, sooo many, hundreds & hundreds. Not for social media, this was before social media when ALL pictures were taken for memories. When you had to pay to get them developed. Before selfie’s & all that nonsense that narcissists love. Anyway, Abbey’s mother is awful. It’s like she has no awareness of what her daughter is communicating. She knows, but like Josh said, they ignore it. I see no genuine unconditional love for Abby coming from Esa & Pricilla. They are doing so much more harm than good with their videos for social media. Is there a platform they aren’t on? Like how does Tik tok bring awareness to autism? I’m so enraged right now. They need to grow up & shut down all their social media or at least take poor precious Abby off of it. Watch how fast Pricilla’s MLM income & status deflates! Anyone who watches them and sticks up for them is just as sick as they are. They are not an example of a loving family bringing awareness to autism. That’s their bs cover story. It’s all about them. Esa seems to be the only 1 who even cares about Abby. They don’t love her. If they did, they wouldn’t strip Abby of her dignity. They are all (with the exception of Abby) narcissistic, money hungry sell outs. 🤬

      Calzgal14 Just generally speaking, food is a common issue with individuals who have autism and are sensory seeking, which is what Abbey is. Many children with autism are always wanting to eat food and don’t know their own limits. It’s not so much that they are hungry, it’s that they like the sensation of eating, and they crave that sensation. Not at all trying to defend the Mass family, I just know from being a former viewer of theirs that food is something Abbey has always struggled with, and if they allow her to have open access to food, she will literally eat herself sick. She has no concept of being able to gauge her fullness or limit herself. Not because she’s hungry, it’s purely a sensory issue, which is something many parents who have children with autism struggle with. Again, not trying to defend them, as I take issue with so much of what they do, but when it comes to the food issue specifically, I understand why they handle it the way they do.

I work at a group home with 5 guys that are on the spectrum. If I ever did anything like this, meaning exploit my clients, I wouldn’t have a job any longer. The interesting part about this, is Abblie’s mom and dad have complete control over the situation. Meaning, in their home, they get to do what they want. They won’t put her in a group home/facility. In a way, it would be better if Abbie was because the people from the state would keep an eye on her. So the fact that she at home in a private setting, they can and will do what they want without her consent. Great video!

    Asa has said autism or not, she is a minor and legally they are the only ones that matter when it comes to giving consent. The thing that bothered me was when Isiah was a minor, they could talk with him about whether or not he wanted to be in the videos. And Isiah is capable of saying no if he doesn’t want to be on camera. But they’ve more than once have said that even if Abby said no, they push her anyway to do whatever because they “know” Abby is going to enjoy doing it. Every time I see that, I get pissed. They keep saying how they want Abby to make her own choices when she can, they don’t respect no means no.

    • @Michele-bm1zu
      @Michele-bm1zu Před 3 lety +7

      What they've actually said is that they push Abbie to at least TRY things that she says no to but they think she'll enjoy. If she ends up hating it, they don't push her again.
      I don't see any difference between that and parents pushing their children to try new foods for example. At the end of the day, Abbie is just a moody teenager as we all were at one point. Would you see something wrong with them encouraging her to try new things if she was just a typical teen?

    • @PostcardCathy
      @PostcardCathy Před 3 lety +5

      I’m not going to quibble on the exact words because in the end, the point is the same. Abby is saying no or walking away or anything else that shows she isn’t interested.
      And yes, I have no problem with parents encouraging their kids to try things. But thinking of my own experiences, at some point, you listen to the person - whether it is your kid or anyone else - you say try this, you’ll like twice, maybe three times. And if all three times the kid says no, back off. If the kid changes their mind, at any point, they can do it then.
      Every week, my family would have brunch with lox, bagels, white fish and so on. Every week, I heard my family talk about how salty the fish was, to be careful of the bones and actually choking sometimes. And I couldn’t stand the smell. Several times a year, Dad would push me to try the fish, telling me look how much everyone is enjoying it. My mom would signal him to give up. But he’d try again every few weeks even telling me I’m not a good Jew. And I finally had it. So I told him I know of no Jewish law that says though shall eat salty smoked fish to get into heaven. And I told him if I am wrong and it is a Jewish law somewhere, than I am perfectly happy to be a bad Jew. To this day, 45-50 years later, I still resent my dad for the persistent pressure to try the food.
      When I was six and at summer camp, I came close to being thrown off a horse. I was terrified of being trampled. The camp still sent me to the stables but they respected my desire to not ride. They understood it was not a good idea to put a terrified kid on a horse.
      Maybe two years later my father went out of his way to arrange for my sister and I to go to riding at a friend’s place. I said from the time I found out out what my father had planned. My father tried to strong arm me/guilt me into riding. He felt that if we knew he took off work, drove a great distance, asked a friend for a favor, etc., I would go oh gee Dad, ok, I’ll do it because you worked so hard. We get there, and my sister is so excited. She can’t wait to get on the horse and when she does, she’s so happy. I’m trying to walk away to go back to the car. My dad had one of the stable hands put my on the horse and then ride with me. If there was ever a time I hated my dad, that was it. There’s a picture of me holding on to the woman on the horse with me. My sister once said laughing that I was squeezing so hard, I almost squeezed the life out of the woman. She got me off the horse in a very short time. The whole ride home I resembled my father for forcing a terrified child to do something she told you multiple times she didn’t want to do.
      So we are back to the beginning. I can advocate for myself. Abby does advocate for herself in her own way. But I was able to tell my dad no Jewish appetizing. No horses, if he doesn’t listen to me but he listens to other people when they say the same thing, I task him why he listens to the other people but he doesn’t listen to me. He says he didn’t know. So I remind him of the various times we discussed it and what he said, what I said, how many times we talked about it. And I ask how he can not know. And I know my dad. He gets embarrassed and the conversation sputters to an end. I can do that. Abby has no way to tell Asa or Priscilla that.
      And they have pushed her dozens of times that I have seen. I have seen Asa multiple times put his hands on Abby to keep her in the video frame. I have seen him push or pull her towards the pool and try to push her in. I’ve seen her turn her head away and he takes her head in her hands and turns her head towards the camera. I’m getting seriously upset now thinking about it. And so many times he’s like ok, she doesn’t want to do it, maybe another time.
      He’s admitted he is a control freak. Is it so important to him that he can’t edit out the parts that show him trying to force her to do something? He can’t just say I wanted Abby to join us in this activity but she was t interested? It’s like Josh said. If they show Abby, more people are interested.

    People don’t even speak to their toddlers in the tone that she speaks to Abby.
    Also love the truth you spoke about MLMs! 👏

      Pricilla needs to put her phone down, start taking care of Abby. She had Abby now she needs to take responsibility for Abby. It is obvious she hated Abby because she has a disability. Abby is getting to be an adult and her needing help bathing then Pricilla needs to help her bathe not dad helping her.

    I work with autistic adults and because they lack capacity to consent we are not allowed to record or take pictures of them and certainly would not parade them for the camera that would be considered abuse ad a criminal act! I’m English are the laws different in America? Your doing a great job keep it up! 👏👏👏👏👏👏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿❤️

      Teachers, nurses, and medical personnel cannot take pictures of students/patients. I do not think it is illegal for parents to do so, or Facebook and family vloggers would go out of business.
