    Bit of a damp squid that one! I agree I love the beading after my truck, a MSRT Ford Ranger, has been ceramic waxed and dried off. I use Maguires CW. The whole wash duration takes me an hour start to finish - it’s a pleasure not a chore and tbh, if one cannot spare an hour bi-monthly to take care of of your vehicles paintwork by not keeping it clean then there’s something very wrong with your life lol

    The sonax one is the best I have used, gloss and beads are very impressive, also like how slick it is when washing and drying.
    Also great as a spray and rinse after a normal wash, 20-40ml in a spray bottle and rinse and it will blow you away for what it is

  • @roadsandrails
    @roadsandrails Před 4 měsíci

    I use the meguiars one in an orange bottle where you have to mix the shampoo and ceramic element yourself, it comes in a double bottle, it’s probably to address the foaming issue? The positive is it seems to foam like a ‘normal’ shampoo, but the negative is that the ceramic part doesn’t really mix with it, it sits at the top of the bucket like an oil slick. But when you apply it with a wash mitt it does work well. My car is ceramic coated so beads well anyway, but my wife’s isn’t and hers still beads really well, way better than you got in your video. I use diamond brite ceramic snow foam too as a pre wash, my car is never that dirty, but that seems to help beading too, and has pretty good cleaning power and foaming from what I can see. People say it’s a waste of time using ceramic pre wash, but it’s worked well for me so far. And I just do it for the purpose of keeping the ceramic coating topped up.

    As someone who dabbles with this stuff a bit I have a genuine question! Will these ceramic products block up your drying towels? Daft question but if the design of them is to repel water then surely you don’t want this in the fibres of your towels? Or am I miles off?

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  Před 4 měsíci

      this isnt really a ceramic product. A ceramic coating is a hard curing resin that if you buff it off while applying will harden in the MF towel and then yes it effects the towel and you should relegate that towel (non paintwork duties). These products contain SI- material in the form of Siloxane. They can clog up your microfibre and bit but it slowly washes out of the towel in the machine.

    @joeschmoe6908 Před 4 měsíci

    I could be wrong, but I always though that the reason ceramics typically foam less is that the ceramic nanoparticles act as an anti-foaming agent.
    For what it's worth, I've found the best hydrophobic effect with these products to come when you foam it on and rinse off after a few minutes with no agitation. For some reason agitation seems to make it worse.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  Před 4 měsíci

      hmm not sure. ceramic nano particles. Those are industry terms really. The main active ingredient will be a cationic Si- material i think. I do think they work better when sprayed on like you say. I almost wonder if the cationic component does not transfer so well from the mitt. not sure I may try it in a lance and see later on. sometimes you need to play around with products a bit.

      @@ForensicDetailing yeah i know those words sound like made up marketing bs, but I did a very small amount of research and there are actual nanoparticles in some of these products. I don't go around saying words like nanoparticles because I would sound like a fool, but when you think about it anything ceramic has to be a particle. Of course lots of coatings are just polymers.
      Just found this statement on the wikipedia page for silicon dioxide: "Hydrophobic silica is used as a defoamer component".

    Surely cheaper, more effective and generally better to grab 10 packets of touch on and dump into a canon and bottle up for an easy to use spray and rinse sealant that will offer 4 weeks of protection with self cleaning properties.

    Why do people go so close with power washer lance ! It’s like shot blasting a surface ,do it around 2 metres away as your only washing the soap off🤯🤯🤯

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  Před 2 měsíci

      because they know more than you. with the p55 at about a foot you get a good amount of push beyond 2 foot its not effective. when you get closer than 6 inches your in the high risk danger zone. If you blast from 2 meters away its close to pointless using it. but yer you know best... can depend on system and nozzle fan out angle to.

    Well that’s not for me if you need to add over 40ml of product not cost effective, excellent video John, loved how you wanted it to work 😂😂 but clearly it doesn’t

    Looks like yet another case of marketing departments putting the word ‘Ceramic’ into more product names. Polar Seal however is an incredible quick to apply sealant. But I prefer traditional wax.

    Autoglym has been for me the most subpar brand and that lack of beading is just dissapointing to see when they have the word CERAMIC on the bottle.....Gyeon all the way!

    I would just ceramic coat my car ?

  • @79blustone
    @79blustone Před 4 měsíci

    Autoglym ceramic shampoo isn't for me. I'm at the point of detailing my own car using a pure shampoo, my absolute favourite is Carpro Reset. Then I'll use Gtechiq C2 after. That is the greatest beadage that combo makes me happy inside and the car looks dripping wet after it's dried 🎉 . Occasionally I'll use Bilt Hamber touch-on shampoo which looks a million times better then this product. BTW the Porsche is looking absolutely amazing!!! 🙌🙌🙌

    I've always found that the AG shampoo to be ok, as long as you use loads of product in the bucket, but even after frothing it up with my jet wash, the bubbles go after a short while... If I were to use a ceramic based shampoo, the Auto Finesse one is way better and smells great...

    Bottom line use it only with a ceramic coated car otherwise it’s rubbish. If you don’t have a ceramic coated paint protected car then use wax’s / hydrophobic sprays. The ceramic washes are designed to work with and beef up ceramic protected cars. Of course these companies will sell theses products for all cars as its easy 💰 .
