    Just to put the economy of the Zoe into perspective, I started with 220 miles of range, which has gone down to 190 miles in summer and 125 miles in winter. It’s 100% reliable, needs little maintenance at servicing time and it’s a generally great little car.

    I purchased the boot cable storage unit with my September 2020 ZE50 GT Line. It was £150 including VAT, dealer ‘fitted’. I also particularly bought it to raise the floor to support a dog cage (which is in there most of the time with back seats down). I could then easily open the cage door when putting the dog in.
    Also use it for cable storage. Yes, it’s crazy really that it didn’t come as standard but guess it’s accessories like these which all dealers make big profits from! But agreed, it does make the boot much more usable in my view.

      @cingramuk Před 10 měsíci

      If you dont mind me asking, what cage do you have? I have a MIMsafe Variocage from my old car but it wont fit the Zoe I'm getting on Tuesday. I think they do one to fit but the price has gone up to £500 now! It is at least crash tested.

    Paused the video to visit a well known auction site and, given I have bought a few boot liners for different cars over the years, was greatly surprised to find no one is knocking these out a lot cheaper. I think you got a good deal. I wouldn't be paying that much for some polystyrene and plywood. I'd be heading into the shed to fabricate something myself.

    As has been said...haters are going to hate! I had a 22kwh on PCP for 2 years from early 2016, don't recall the false floor storage being an option then. I'd definitely consider a 2nd hand Zoe, excellent WLTP range per £

    we loved our zoe boot floor but now never use it....the boot is always full with our animal stuff...so the charge cable is on top of the sacks of feed grain... but i like the hight it gives the zoe boot.

    I've seen a cover for the bare metal sharp areas being shown on a video, too. They really in time slice any bungee cords you may use in there. My first thought was stowing the cable under the seats, since I rarely get passengers. The bag i used for it completely tore apart from just sitting in the back, too. Now it looks a mess with my granny cable too and shopping bags strewn about. I may come up with something, but am of a certain age, that I don't need to care....hahaha😁. Nothing came as an extra option since it was a pre-reg anyway.

    VW are similarly guilty of this lack of cable storage space issue with the ID.3. You can buy the bits and pieces to install the split level floor but it is stupidly expensive. I'll probably look around dismantlers online during a lazy day over winter.
    ID.3's are now turning up as writeoffs which is lucky for me as some scrote smashed our drivers door glass a couple of weeks back. Autoglass through the insurance say they don't know when the glass will become available. I found one within 4 days, bought it, had it delivered and fitted it for less than the insurance excess.

    • @ModernHeroes
      @ModernHeroes  Před 10 měsíci

      How is this not standard equipment? It’s crazy isn’t it?
      Sounds like a good result with the glass 👌 although a pain you had to do it in the first place

      @thelaserhive3368 Před 10 měsíci

      What? The E Golf has the false floor as standard ( and even provides space there to stow the parcel shelf under it). Pretty poor that they then made it a paid option on the ID3.

    Liked your info on the Zoe so much I have bought one to use as our delivery van, getting it adapted with a van style floor and graphics done soon to make it look more like a van. The Zoe van is good but about £2k -£3k more than the car.

      @@ModernHeroes this was a few weeks ago now, seemed like the same deal but they would only allow it on new cars. Anyway the one I found was waaaay cheaper than they could do one, even factoring the interest on the PCP (which I’m going to pay off early anyway). Think it must be another ex-Onto or something. The company seem to have loads coming in.

    Yes crazy money as an option. I found a shallow storage box which fills one side of the boot , so cables are in there. Works well for me. They only tend to get used when we stay over at friends or relatives though. But handy to have them tucked away.

    Don’t listen to the people that say a heat pump makes little difference. It does, the law of physics tells you that an electric heater uses 1kW to produce 1kW of heat. A heat pump on the other hand will give you around 4kW for every 1kW used. It’s not rocket science it’s physics.

    I just screwed a 3d printed hook into the side of the boot, remove a trim screw and fire a slightly longer screw in and it works a treat. It gets the cable out of the way and no need to move the shopping or the pram to get the cable. Shopping bag hook the other side. A garage bike hook or something similar would work too
