Top player, even better person. met him once when I was younger and he sat and had a conversation with me for an hour about Manchester United, absolute top man
Shaun Bradley harsh 😂
I do not understand why supporters believed Hargreaves was not good enough for England. If he wasn’t a top class player, Bayern Munich would not have employed him and he wouldn’t have been part of a multi-trophy winning club.
Yeah i think he has not got a bad bone in is body, top man, But dont agree with top player, cant ever remember him getting 1 man off the match, top man, ok player.
@@bobbygoodfellow9912 he was that good, he saved Sir Alex for too many times, he was projected by Alex as a perfect replacement for Scholes, it was running well before his injury ruined the plan, and Scholes has to coming back from his retirement to fill up the big hole.
The big hole, not back then, we had the likes off paul pogba, but we all know what happened then, i think Owen was a good player just not world glass
Canadian, English, German accent all in one haha
Lad done well.
@@callumtanner992 he was just saying something nice lmao. a lil stuck up are ya?
Can really hear the German in there, very strange! A really interesting chap with an equally interesting career. Crazy that he only made 27 appearances for United
Not german but welsh
@@Raheem_925 Considering he moved to Germany full time at the age of 16 and left at the age off 25 to move to Manchester.
Definitely some German there even if small.
What a cool guy. It's so weird to hear someone who 40% of his words are spoken with a North American accent and 60% with an English pronunciation.
GoingWhere he’s not American Lol
@@oldgamerevival6019 Canada is in North America...
And a slight German tinge as well
Ryan Davison father is English
@@razzad573 English father, Welsh mother. His older brother was English-born as well.
Top player, also goes without saying his playing career was more interesting than your average brit
People slagged him off for England but 2006 he was one of our best players in that tournament. In the game we went out on he WAS our best player. He's the type of player England need now instead of Rice or Dier. He can't help that he had a lot of injuries.
he was our only player who scored in the shoot out against Portugal in 06. English player with german bottle.
Hargreaves in that quarter final was an absolute beast. He remained a beast until his injury issues started not long into his Man United career. I have a feeling it was due to his bow-legged low centre of gravity that he was so quick to react and turn yet so prone to injury because I'm the same way
He can’t dine out on 1 good England performance in his whole career, he never did anything of note in any other game.
@@adambutterworth7608 was good enough to play with Bayern and man utd ?
A H barely kicked a ball for United to be fair.
People always go on about that game against Portugal. It was a game that we drew 0-0 and lost on pens.
Very underrated player. Career was ruined with injuries. Met him in Calgary when he retired and he was such a class act.
Actually was quite a similar player to carrick, that midfield 3 with those 2 and Scholes was ridiculous
He was apparently a hypercondriac
When I see Hargreaves i always mind his free kick he scored against Arsenal, was mint.
The one he made Ronaldo watch, I'll never forget that, he was so confident
Banger
ChristyMufc413 : Real talk 💯 he scored a free kick against Fulham too 🔥
One of the most underrated players to ever play the game
Joe Munro B.S he got his plaudits but was injury prone
He was well rated and respected..
@@zephergaming4437 He was injury prone in Manchester United, he was the replacement for Scholes but things never worked out. He's Sir Alex's biggest disappointment. Still he was a maestro
Massive shame his career basically ended in 2008. Still at least he got to win the CL a couple of times must have been amazing.
This guy has all the accents 😂😂
Grew up as a United fan with a squad full of Ronaldos, Rooneys and Ferdinands, but Hargreaves, for me, was my favourite. Such an intelligent, hard working footballer. So underappreciated.
This guy was part in two of the closest penalty shootouts in the CL and won both
The man, the myth, the legend that is owen Hargreaves
England should have had this guy behind Gerrard and Lampard, not just Scholes. I am convinced we would have won something. What a player, had absolutely EVERYTHING. Passing free kicks aggression energy legs shooting tackling. Absolute animal.
Incredibly underrated footballer, his career is overshadowed by the injury troubles he had, but what a career he had. Just a shame he couldn’t stay injury free when he came to the Premier League
Even he still remember all the way that he through his lifetime moments as an athlete football⚽
Brilliant player. Was immense in the 2008 CL final but just too many injuries. Really think if we(United) had him and Fletcher at their best in the 2009 final we would’ve beaten Barca
2009 barca was too strong
Fully agree, then Sir Alex would Not have over thought his tactics if Hargreaves was fit and would have also started Scholes.
And fun fact: Barcelona had never beaten United when Scholes had STARTED a game vs them (1999 home and away, 2008 home and away).
@@priyadarshidash4353 not really. Only reached the final thanks to the referees helping them vs Chelsea
He's one of the reasons why we won the double in 2008. Shame on the injuries
Rearly liked this one lads.
Amazing player, was key to United winning the CL, so underrated
Wish he would have played for the Canadian national team... Would’ve been the best player in CMNT history. Fair play though, if England come calling It’d be difficult to turn that down.
dont remember much of him but remember how there were alot of questions over his england selection and he awnsered it by showing he had the most bottle in 2006
I live in Calgary. It’s cool to see him give a little shout out.
this is probably one of the best What I Wore eps, he's so insightful . No better person on television when it comes to making his points understood, he's so coherent and clear.
Big ups Calgary Foothills .. Used to play them and they'd smash us everytime !!
Brilliant player Hargreaves was, loved him at Utd 👹❤️
It's a shame how it ended but he was an important part of one of the best ever Manchester United teams
He was the key. Similar to Stam in 99.
It is the best United team of all time, defenitely better than the treble winning team of 99.
One of the top midfielder who’s underrated
Glad he skipped the City part of his career lmao
Lol I was gonna say that too! Little embarrassed that he did a full kit John Terry?
Jamie Dąbrowiecki he made 1 appearance, what’s to talk about?
He probably did talk about his time at city, but they edited out all 14 seconds of it.
What an interesting man. A German, Canadian, English and Welsh accent mixed in together. Very good pundit as well.
tragic how his career dissolved, similar to Micheal Owen.
Joe King bad luck with injuries otherwise a decent player
Not exactly like michael owen. Michael owen was a ballon do’r winner in his heyday.
Harsh bhargava didn’t deserve it
Good that he won everything as a player
Doesn't seem a giant bellend like Michael Owen is
Super underrated and underappreciated player, loved him at Man Utd. Shout-out to the interviewer, he's really good at letting the interviewees speak their mind
The Bayern legend
Unfair what injuries did to him. What a player.
one of the very best interviews of this series
Massively underrated Player, one of the top performers for United in 2007/2008 season
That game was one of the best performances I've seen from one individual
Another good video...the interviewer is really good. Let's the players talk. Hargreaves was a good solid player. Shame about the injuries
Owen Hargreaves is such a nice guy and he always tried his hardest. I never understood why he got stick for things that are beyond his control, such as: playing in the Bundesliga, and being injured. Credit to him though, he has always been mentally strong. I remember him in big games for United. He was always cold as ice. 1 season, 1 UCL. If he wasn’t injured in 2009 I think we could have won the UCL again. Legend.
One of the most underrated players in football. It's a pity that he got injuries
absolute Bayern legend. vastly underrated. great number 6
The GOAT Canadian, would have been awesome if he played for them
Hargreaves in 2006 was our best player by far. Quality for us, we almost didn't deserve him. He was smashing it in Europe, but alas, he came to United and even then he still won the double.... with the Champions League in that.
Just a quality player overall. Gutted he had injuries..
Injuries aside he was a top quality player. I remember when he was introduced to the England set up he was far superior technically to any other midfielder at that time. Was gutted when he went to united as I really wanted him at anfield. I used to always buy him in footy manager
Edit: of course Owen had nothing on scholes
I agree, but think his superior quality was his tactical brain. His positioning and anticipation were way beyond our other midfielders, and he gave balance to the england midfield. Shame we didn't see the best of him more often.
Good choice of kits for Hargreaves there! Respect!
Absolutely love this series
Cosmopolitan Owen H. was the first at Bayern to put Canada on the map, not Davies. I remember what a warrior he was at such a young age. Scared of no one
Who knew how cool Hargreaves is? What a hero.
He had to pick that Utd top just look at is straight fire 🔥
Man, I wish they'd do one of these segments with Michael Ballack #13🇩🇪 🙏
we want more of these
If he didn't get injured, he'd be remembered up there with the greats
Behave
if not for injuries, sturridge would be the greatest "natural finisher" in premiership history
@@prongs1998ggmu I remember him with Suarez, absolute quality
One of England's most underrated midfielders ever
He’s got like three accents at the same time
07:03 - best Part wit Oliver Kahn :DDD
whats he saying exactly? I can not understand it...
Great series
Bayern Legend!
I like him as a commentator as well good to listen to
Habe ihn immer gerne bei Bayern spielen gesehen.
Auch menschlich immer ein großartiger Typ gewesen
und geblieben.
Top, top guy! Definitely should be on a starting 11 for a “most underrated” or “most overlooked” team in recent history. Hella nice too, kinda the last of a dying breed IMO.
Yep, never really knew or bothered to find out much about this guy before watching this, but it's obvious he's got a massive heart and didn't deserve the treatment he got from the press playing for England. Proud that he represented the national side and just a shame that great generation never won anything
met him when he signed for man utd....very nice guy.
Such an underrated player
Unbelievable player! Such a shame the amount of injuries he had.
He looks like Richard Madden (Robb Stark from GOT)
I was playing this video in the background and I thought I was hearing at least 3 different people (not counting the host)
Hope there’s a few orange bibs there He spent a lot of time on the sidelines Respect how warm he kept that bench OG of the sitting game
Imagine having a player at the heart of that bayern Munich midfield and never using him properly for England.
He's had an interesting career that's for sure
He worked hard for United give him that.
Manchester United, England and Bayern Munich are three teams that will always be in my heart.
What an underrated baller he was in his prime
what a nice bloke
Brilliant player
Cracking player & he seems a cool guy
I was his biggest advocate in my group of mates / united fans, I knew he was mustard the moment I seen him mug Real Madrid off then do Valencia. I was forever going on about Hargreaves and every time ronaldo did something other worldly I was think “Owen coulda done that” absolute tragedy with his injuries and then he played for citehhh and his decent into hell was complete.
Gutted he only had 1 season injury free for Utd as him and Carrick were excellent for us that season in centre mid. Definitely worth it for that season alone considering we won the league and champions league.
I always was a huge fan, even when he went to United (as I‘m a LFC fan), he deserved way more love and recognition
I had that exact man United ronaldo kit from 2008. I sold it on eBay... I still have a real Madrid Beckham from 05/06 I believe Is the year, siemens logo on front. Mint condition. Probably one of my favorite shirts ever becuase it's Becks and that real team is one of the best ever...
Great Career!
The most underrated English player. Huge talent to sow it but injuries hindered his peak time.
Was amazing for us during 2007-2008 season for united Its a shame his injury in 09 stopped ruined his career because he could of had or deserved much longer spell at the top level
Do one with Ryan giggs it would be so cool
I remember towards the end he was still desperate to play despite the injuries. I think around 2012/2013 he trialled with QPR.
Natural talent
Unbelievably good player. Super interesting cat too.
Top player .....injuries took that away.soo good for england even better for united....engine in midfield
This guy is the definition of under rated in football
Moral of the story: don't play through the pain. Don't be a hero. Vulnerability is strength. Save your career.
Was outside the store the day they done this. Stormy weather rain pissing it down. No pre warning it would be shut and we travelled 2
Hours 😂 stood in the rain waiting to go in. Cheers lads xx
Didn’t watch the full video. Did they show the different types of medical gowns he also wore during his career?
Go to 7:35
Real good guy as well to be fair
If Beckham has time he would be perfect
Still remember that free kick against arsenal. One of the truly great players whose career was utterly destroyed by injuries
Unreal player, think he was more of a German than English. But he was one of the best underrated midfielders to play for England. Shame he had alot of injuries that bogged him.
Just skipped out the playing for man city part lool
thomas archer love it 😂
thomas archer because he played one game
@@thomasarcher9178 he didnt wtf
Please do this with Son Heungmin
he wore the shirts for longer in this interview than he did in his playing career
Luis figo❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇵🇹
best candian footballer of all time, change my mind.
He's the only one lol
@@seangoodspeed5210 LOL I googled it just for fun and he's not even on top ten lists, we are clearly still salty about the national team snub aha
Steven Vitoria
Paul peschisolido
@@ABolaRules who? LoL. Pescholido i know of. He played in england.
Cool guy!
