- Finally here's my full review of the silver dial JLC Ultra Thin Moon. It was a pleasure making and I hope you enjoy watching as much. Maybe I should have paid more attention to dust management on the close ups though...

Beautiful.
JlLC are simply the best. The highest quality at a reasonable cost in what it is often an overpriced segment. I recently picked up a mint condition, 2005, 34mm MUT full box and papers, sapphire case back and deployant clasp for under £3k. The manual wind 849 is frankly incredible. It’s a masterpiece as is yours. Congratulations and I hope you enjoy for the rest of your days.
I treated myself to this watch in 18ct rose gold as my retirement present to myself. Love it.
A wonderfully classy, versatile and cool watch that has real meaning. Who could ask for more. Congratulations Andy 👏🍾
Congratulations on the new acquisition - wear it in good health! :-)
I love your mood boards. Even though my teeny tiny collection of affordable watches cannot be compared to yours whatsoever, I put just as much thought and effort into selecting the right watch, similarly to you. Everything has to make sense in my head, as to why I am adding that particular watch, with this dial, that strap, brand, and so on.
I especially liked the "buy and wear what you love" bit - very true, indeed. Looking forward to your next video, explaining what's next on the mood board :-)
Thanks! Happy anniversary Andy. May you enjoy many more happy healthy years together.
Thanks for a wonderful review of a very classy lunar dress watch. I have the same watch but with the black dial. I’m also a neophyte astronomer and love the concept of having an ancient harbinger of time on my wrist in such a well designed modern timepiece. Your connection to the moon, your memories of young love, the silver dial and your silver anniversary all combine to create a beautiful keepsake watch that I believe will remain forever in your collection.
Love JLC. I recently got myself my very first piece, the Reverso! Such an elegant and classy brand.
That's a beautiful, classic, versatile watch. Very happy for you.
Congratulations Andy! This is a really nice watch indeed. Enjoy it.
Great video. Always have had my eyes set on this piece. Great choice. Also, congratulations on the lovely milestone achieved. Best wishes.
Good morning sir, I saw your vid a minute after you posted. I happen to scroll CZcams I found it. Finally I was wondering when you were reviewing this amazing piece. I must say this is a contender for my collection. It’s an obtainable grail for me but it’s definitely a life long keeper. I need to get one more sport piece before I start my dress watch part of my collection. I tried this on a few times at the JLC AD in Chicago. It looks amazing on camera, it looks even better in person. Plus it wears perfect. It looks way more expensive than what it is in a classy way without it trying to look high end. Many watches can look more expensive than what they are designed for but with JLC. The quality and craftsmanship stands up to the luxury bib and design. IMO this is the best moon phase watch out in the market. This is one of those watches that can hold it’s own against VC or Patek as a dress/office watch, but can be smart casual enough to wear with jeans. Just as long as you don’t wear gym shoes LOL. I have to say the JLC Ultra Thin Small seconds is a very close contender for me…. Enjoy your new JLC
Great watch - and lovely video delivery. Thanks!
It is unbelievably beautiful. Understated and only watch nerds recognize that this is special.
Happy New Year, Andy. It’s a stunner. Really gorgeous & classy piece. I’ve considered it several times but ultimately found it perhaps a little too mature for me. And as you say, the recent price hike is substantial too. I do wish also JLC offered it on a matt, non-croc style leather strap. Non-the-less, its still a cracking watch & looks great on you. Glad you are enjoying it. Maybe I’ll add one for my 50th in some years time. All the best
Absolutely beautiful watch Really gorgeous & classy piece !!! and a beautiful review .
In a world where every poser, wannabe, and salesman just receiving their first bonus runs to try to buy a Rolex, it’s so nice to see something as classy as a JLC. I’ve been wearing my JLc Geophysic 1958 almost every day and love it.
Finally caught up with it, great review of a beautiful piece.
Thought I threw enough hints to my wife for our anniversary… I want the blue face. Beautiful watch.
Well worth the wait, another full & well explained review 👏🏻 👏🏻
I have the new Ball Moon Calendar watch which I think is siding on more or an everyday tool watch with a hint of dress watch & I love them (couldn't decide what colour dial to order, the blue dial is in my profile and I have put it on a sports rubber strap).
Look forward to your next show, as always 👍🏻
The rose gold version is on my list. Nicely done Sir!
Just picked up the master control date recently. Love it!
Great looking watch - enjoy. I also considered the JLC Ultra Thin moon, but the blue dial version. Just before I was going to make a purchase, JLC released the blue dial limited edition Master Control Calendar, and I was lucky enough to snap one up! First time watching one of your videos - will be back for more - great content.
Hope you’re feeling well, Andy. Beautiful Reference! I enjoyed the review. Cheers 🥂
Andy, an interesting watch and review. Many thanks.
Excellant choice and enjoy wearing this great looking watch.
Great choice, old school wonder…👌
Gorgeous timepiece!
A very classy choice, and a versatile dress watch is a welcome addition to your collection. I myself went for the Lange Saxonia moon phase in white gold and silver dial that has a similar look to your JLC. It is a joy to wear.
Just dreaming of that one. One day……
Great addition to your Collection
Hi!
I decided to pick a Reverso as my first JLC watch. But the Ultra Thin Moon Phase is still on my list. One of my all time favourite watches. Unfortunately the price increase during the last years makes it very unlikely to get this timepiece in the near future.
Best regards,
Claus
Wore my Master Control Hometime today. My love affair with JLC started with the purchase of a vintage 18k gold dress watch with a porcelain dial. I loved the JLC so much, that I'm selling what used to be my go to dress watch, an 18k gold Vacheron Constantin Patrimony (which has a JLC movement) as I prefer the JLC.
Thank you for posting. I’m considering this piece in blue dial or the rose gold white dial.
Another great video Andy. The staring at the stars bit cracked me up 😂😂
😂sad but true. Cass had a chuckle.
@@TheEnglishWatch 😂
Gorgeous piece, JLC are just so classy. Berrys in Leeds are my go to for Omega and looking at a JLC in the near future myself. Tried on the Reverso with them last year.
Bought myself one for my 55th birthday last year after a 6 month decision amongst many others and am completely smitten every time I put it on.
Excellent video , thank you.
Glad to find your channel and see that we have quite similar tastes. My main rotation consists of a 114060 Sub, an IWC Pilot's Chronograph 41, and of course the JLC Ultra Thin Moonphase. Need to wear the JLC way more. Keep up the good work
Blimey. Almost playing snap.
Great buy, my friend. Congrats!
Excellent, many Thanks!
Cheers Andy! Congrats!
Ive recently bought this very watch for a milestone too, and also as my first luxury watch
Lovely. Enough said!
Got my dad’s Omega de Ville when he died just before I turned 20. Desperately wanted a Seamaster for my 30th birthday and bought myself a Diver 300. I’m 40 in three months time and have just ordered my JLC Master Ultra Thin small seconds. My forever piece to pass down to my daughter when I pass.
If I had the dosh for a watch at that price, I'd slap it on the counter quicker than you can say JLC !
Great review of an exquisite piece
(I only have dress watches)👌
Beauty! Congrats.
very nice... great watch..... enjoy it
This watch is a sleeper! I own one and got it when it was $9,200!
Fantastic watch - glad you're enjoying it, a keeper for sure. I can certainly vouch for JLC's quality and Berry's customer service, but I'm less convinced by JLC's recent price rises. I get the strategy, but I think it may alienate customers in the current economic climate. Time will tell...
that's a dynamite of a watch Andy! I have a JLC hometime with that same silver Sunray dial and it's been a very versatile watch. Mine originally came on a brown alligator strap which I used for many years. I recently swapped it out for a blue alligator strap and buy did it come alive! Get one from one of the artisan strap makers and you'll be amazed at what the watch can do.
This JLC has become my holy grail watch. Hopefully, I will be able to purchase one some day. Meanwhile, I am loving my Tissot Gentleman.
Great review. Stunning dress time piece - but IMHO certainly not a for jeans! 🙂
Nice review! Although not the most legible, the silver dial would go well with other strap options.
I never understood why JLC is not part of that so-called "Holy Trinity".
Yes considering AP are and pretty much every single watch of theirs is a different version of the Royal Oak, I agree JLC should be in the holy trinity.
Because the Trinity is not a four 😂
But the JLC is really excellent timepiece 😎
Because of their designs
Oh you decided on the jlc. Enjoy it !!
I don't know about Vacheron. They even have watches they don't hack seconds hand while time setting. Should replace VC with JLC.
My favorite JLC! Excellent choice! Wish I could afford one! My dress watched are the large quartz Cartier Tank Must on black strap and the Grand Seiko SBGW287 Boshū. But if I could get a third, it'd be yours!
Already a superb collection.
I definitely want to add that blue one.
Another added bonus in connection with your 25th anniversary is the name of the caliber, 925 ~ sterling silver. Wear it in health!
Good point 👍
Lovely watch
JLC are very underrated Watch company and have the most in-house movements of any Watch company over 1000 , thanks
You made the right choice. If you were going to buy a rectangular dress watch, Cartier is the more stylish and iconic option. The round JLC dress watches punch well above their price.
is the winding rotor gold plated or solid?
Excellent review! I find myself on the fence between the black dial and the silver! Until i see them both in person I can't decide which I like best.
Take your time. Let the AD do the leg work and get the range in for you to choose. You won’t be disappointed.
Great video. Only just found your channel.
Great to support a fellow watch content creator.
I love the JLC MUT Moon and after lusting after one for years i’d decided it could be the watch to mark my 40th. However, after trying on the updated version I couldn’t get away with how the lugs stick out passed the strap a little. A tiny foible but something I couldn’t unsee when I saw it. Struggling to find any of the previous models now so may have to look for another dress watch… Or try the new MUT Moon on a few more times.
PS congratulations on the new piece and enjoy it in good health!
Try the GO Panomatic Lunar. Looks excellent value.
Thanks!
A true gentleman’s watch. Wear it in good health!
Pure class
great buy
Your MUT Moon is even MORE beautiful than my MUT 145.8.79.S,
but I actually prefer my hand-wound movement (calibre 849), both visually and haptically.
i still see value at their new and increased price if you compare it to the omega deville tresor at $7900. the jlc gives you moon phase, date and auto-winding in an even slimmer package. both are on my shopping list as my refined watch.
I bought my tudor and omega planet ocean from berrys in York
I really need to see the 36mm variant in real life
JLC quality and make the best moon phase
Love it - we have similar taste(I have a speedy too!)I’m really looking forward to adding this exact piece (I was originally looking at Master control Calendar, but once I tried this on, I was just blown away by its understated yet classy design)! Keen to know if you managed to snag a discount and where you got it from? Thank you so much!
This watch was purchased from Berry’s. They have a few branches in the UK, but also good telephone support. In terms of discount, you can only ask. I was offered the pre-price rise value.
Thank you so much - wear your new watch in good health and congratulations on your milestone anniversary!
Has anyone who has purchased this watch wish that they would have went with the 36mm instead?
Beautiful watch longines now do a budget friendly version of this watch
Perhaps reaching out to David The Strap Taylor for another flavour.... picking out the blue elements on a strap?
Very beautiful.. congratulations👍🏻
Good call
A moon phase is a must in your collection if i can be honest
13:15 perfect watch collection
Am I the only one who prefers the pre face lift version? The long hour markers on the new version just looks a tad too aggressive and non-dressy to me. They look like long fangs. Upside is it makes the watch sportier. And while I can appreciate the larger date wheel being more functional for my aging eyes, it's also quite large. Again, sportier. I do like the extra star dust added on the moon disc though. Very romantic. Any how, congratulations. You have a grail piece I could only dream/complain about. Great vid as always.
I prefer the price of the pre-face lift 😢
I looked at these a couple of years ago or so. Lovely watch but was under £7k then!
Great choice! However JLC uses gold plated rotors and not full gold ones unfortunately
Can you compare it with similar priced Breguet
I’m not a massive Breguet fan. Appreciate the history and craftsmanship, but haven’t found a design that fits my style. Maybe one day.
Good video. What’s your rule of thumb when rotating watches when you have quite a few? 😂. I’d love to give all my watches time but mostly my forever watches get 80% of my time.
I think most of us are like that which is why I let the GMT go. I tend to wear my Submariner most days to work with the occasional wear of the JLC and the Speedy gets love at the weekends. The Planet ocean I wear most days in the summer, but less so winter time.
When would I wear the IWC as and when I get it? Not sure, but probably to take time off the Speedy.
I’m summary, there’s no easy answer my aim is to not have too many similar pieces to minimise the overlap.
@@TheEnglishWatch #videoidea
Great watch for me it would be a toss up between this or a GO PanoMaticLunar
I need to try some GO’s.
@@TheEnglishWatch do it, love to hear your take on them and hopefully a review
Just one little thing: The height stated at 10:03 is incorrect. The new 2021 version is just 9,3mm thick
Thanks Hans I’ll check that. I did measure myself with a set of verniers, but will double check. Don’t want to undersell how thin the watch is.
Ok, busted. 9.4mm measured. Can’t get to 9.3 though.
@@TheEnglishWatch Thanks a lot for taking the time to check this! I have seen different numbers for the height on some websites and was not sure which were accurate.
Thanks for looking out. Watches are all about the details.
“Something that both my wife and I could feel connected to” 😂. If that’s how you justify it to yourself, by all means.
JLC is great but imo they need to redo trhe Polaris collection
Stunning watch. My dad has the rose gold version. It's his grail. It ticks every box but the loud bearings is too irritating for me. It makes the wearing experience cheap for me. Haven't had the heart to say it to dad though...
If only I were a tad deaf like him 😛 I could wear it too
The socially erudite smart money is on the Reverso. It’s too subtle for those in ‘da hood’ though. I know no one will ever rob me of mine because it’s not bling enough for the Will Smith types.
Can you swim with it?
I’d rather use the Submariner. I think the leather strap would die before the watch mind.
Why on earth would you want to swim with a watch like this
Master series > Reverso
You don't.
too big, too thick to me. now it becomes expensive
Better......
