Not gonna lie, Leatherface not remembering Sally is SUCH a good idea. There isn't a dichotomy between them, they aren't a pair, she's obsessed with him and he moved on. Great decision.
Especially because bubba is kinda just a kid, why would he remember a person who he didn’t get to make food out of, he would literally not care anymore
Yes and Leatherface is mentally challenged it’s always been obvious the chances of him remembering her or recognizing her after all this time is nonexistent. But also him not trying to attack her because she has a gun pointed at him shows he smart enough to know to you do that

The most anti-climatic part was when Sally, who waited 50 years to get her revenge was ignored, had the chance to blown off Leath's head with her shotgun at point blank instead was shouting at him to remember her friends he killed back in 74, then shortly afterwards was put down with the chainsaw by Leatherface, i thought that would be a epic showdown

I understand her wanting to see if Leatherface remembers her friends and brother or even her, but after he said nothing, she DEFINITELY should’ve shot him. Nothing was stopping her from ending his life.

About “Dante’s Partner,” I used to do captioning, and per USA policy, if a character’s name isn’t said, you can’t name them in the subtitles. This gives the person reading the subtitles the same experience as someone who has heard the movie.

I was wondering about that deed issue part too, so I did some research. What Melody finds isnt the deed, its a Warranty Property Title. That document shows that she owned the home and that no bank could legally sell her property to someone else. I guess the bank that owned every other building never mentioned "Oh hey, you bought 99% of the town but theres with one lady and a dude living in a building she owns. Dont kick her out, please"

No, the writers just didn't think it through. What you said is completely negated by the cop saying "how many times does the bank have to inform you" or something along those lines that implies that the bank itself sold the property/informed the lady it was sold. The writing is next-level bad lmao.

I was wrong in my first comment, the bank could have sold the house she owned if she hadn't paid any property taxes for a while, but audiences shouldn't have to think this much about an issue like this. The writers should have taken the laziest route and had them call the bank directly and have the bank tell them "Oops, we forgot to tell you that the old lady managed to save her home from being sold". At least then there wouldn't have been any question about the ownership.
essentially this would’ve been a key point for some more character development for melody. writers could’ve used this moment to show a different side of her who is more selfish. she could have used guilt and sorrow as an excuse to leave the town based on the fact she had inadvertently killed someone, when really she didn’t want anyone else to find out leatherface’s killing spree was her fault.

This was one of the funniest Kill Counts, I think, really had me cackling. Also, justice for Richter. Man just wanted to deal with his 30-50 feral hogs in peace, he should have lived much longer. Might just be because I like Moe Dunford as an actor, though.

I like to think that the post credits scene shows that Leather face was so tired of killing (since he seems like he was forced to kill because of his insane family) and since he killed most of the people who invaded his home, he would just go back to the house he lived in and just rest until the time comes.

Bubba, or leather face, was a victim of his environment and his malicious family that if somebody got away, he was sure to get a beating and probably worse. Once Sally escaped, it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for him to feel such shame that he let his family down. But there’s also a rift between that in that family is everything to him. So there might be a chance he’d go back filled w/ shame that not only Sally got away but Nubbins died while also chasing her. He’d most likely be blamed for that too.

I feel like the thing that pushes the whole movie over the line for me is specifically the bus scene, where they keep cutting back between Leatherface carving up influencers and Lila's memories of the victims dead in the school hallways. That draws the comparison between Leatherface and a mass shooter, which could've been done in a clever way, but with the rest of the film trying to be a campy bloody slasher where the kills are all part of the fun, it just feels jarringly weird and uncomfortable. It was otherwise awful and stupid in an *entertaining* way, but that just made it feel gross.

Yeah cuz you watch slashers and horror for over the top gross kills. But comparing it to shootings that really happen. Seeing people screaming and panicking getting killed in a real way, isn’t fun or fun to think about. Schoool shootings should never be a theme in a movie.

Leatherface’s family is the single most important part of the story, outside of the chainsaw.
To not include them is a terrible decision.

@@JonoPSPlus I always felt it weird sequels and these reboots just kept inventing new family members out of nowhere just to keep it going. I think Leatherface being alone is fine and beats the movie just coming up with a whole new group of Sawyer family members we'd never heard of before for no reason other than that a Learherfsce movie has to have Sawyer family stuff in it.

That film was shot literally 10 mins drive from where I live. I even remember driving by and wondering what are they doing there ( cause they don’t use this area for shooting location , especially american productions) , but had no idea they were shooting TCM.

I think the school shooting subplot/character trauma is something we're gonna see a lot more in the future. Unfortunately like James said, it's becoming more and more common, and just like movies will have characters traumatized from war or something like a car accident, we're gonna get shooting survivors more frequently. Unfortunately just a sign of the times, but I don't think it's necessarily distasteful in this movie.

I didn’t see it as distasteful in the slightest, I actually thought it was different from usual stuff like it gave reason for why she’s reluctant to hold a firearm at first. Overall the film is terrible but I can’t hate it, it was overall a fun movie to watch since it’s so stupid you can’t help but love it.
I disagree with the last part only because they didn't do anything with it. It was pretty much window dressing to add more layers to the movie and the character.
Laurie was Myers' obsession because she had decisive strike, where Sally doesn't have decisive strike, she was just an annoying runt who runs around like typical Nea mains with flashlights.
I’m so mad at myself that I haven’t been able to binge watch my kill counts the way I used to! Fortunately, I was treated with the new background for these massively entertaining videos. I have been a subscriber for a good 5 years now, back before this channel had the following it deserved . But I knew from the minute I watched my first kill count this channel would be a success. From the first Jason kill count to the interview where Jamie lee Curtis offered to marry James and Chelsea, I have loved every minute of it.

As someone who has the seen the movie she does call the cops but the few cops in this town were killed earlier by leatherface so there was no one to pick up the phone when she called if I remember correctly! 🙎♂️

I laughed hysterically for a good minute
You know this movie could have been a cool detective thriller. Imagine if we followed Sally's son and or grandson who grew up hearing Sally talk about what happened to her and seeing how she never got over her trauma and lived with it until she died. Now her son/grandson is a is a detective following a string of cannibalistic murders across Texas for the first half of the movie and in the second half finally runs into the family, with several new younger members who have are far more violent and open about what they do. It would bring something a bit different to a franchise with so many similar movies and give us a new final guy since we have so few as it is.
That would be stupid too, since a lot of people already know about the family, they would be put in prison or killed, and then it would be obvious who the killers are right away anyway
@@inanimatemist8610 my idea was that the family got away and burned down the house, destroying a lot of evidence before moving shop to the other end of Texas. That way we can explain why they were never caught or even seen, they became far more reclusive snd would only commit murder by kidnapping the homeless and foreigners visiting Texas. Then suddenly a huge spike in the numbers of disappearances and deaths would bring attention to them again
That's such a great idea! Infusing new characters into the franchise could help keep it alive, and having a few familiar faces or threads here or there could help solidify each installment as something new, but unmistakably part of the franchise!
TCM seems to go down the lone killer route now , Leatherface is like another Michael Myers or Jason they seem to work alone now . There's never a family anymore . Just this old man who must be 80 years old but still has the strength and speed of a 30 year old LMAO , it's so stupid *smh* .
I think they should have just brought back the character Stretch from the second movie , She could have been another Gail Weathers character like in Scream but a more serious useful one. And it would have been better if they introduced a relative of Sally's aswell , instead of butchering an OG character.

Intrigued to hear what James has to say about this movie. In my humble opinion the original from 1974 is an absolute masterpiece, and it's one of the few movies I gave a full 10/10. This film, however, was an absolute trainwreck, I thought. A truly horrible movie.

I watched it when it dropped on Netflix and I promise I could not get over how bad this movie was🤣🤣 what really did it for me as a cherry on top is when leather face starts blocking shotgun bullets with his chainsaw like a light saber I had to think to my self what in the world is going on right now hahahah
I have to agree with James, its pretty fucking bad but its fun.
Honestly its worth watching imo just cause its funny
I will say this isn’t the worst chainsaw movie because nothing will ever be a dumpster fire like Texas chainsaw 3D
I got excited as hell when I saw that this video came out for two reasons. One: I’ve been seeing a lot of bad reviews for this one for a while without having seen what it is people don’t like about it and I was happy to see what it was. Two: The TCM massacre kill counts are some of my favorites. I loved this video, and it lived up to my excitement!
Everything they complained and bitched about was stuff I loved. You just can't make a dumb, gory slasher movie these days.
Yes because back when this movie was originally made it was never seen before and had ppl gasping from the violence now we so numb to the scares we forced to concentrate on the filler stuff so realize this movie ain’t for us anymore

This is one of my favorite movies. Not because it’s good, but because me and my friend were super tired and made fun of literally every single bit of bullshit in this movie. It’s so much fun to quote this movie to each other when no one understands

In a world of pretentious movie reviewers... you sir are a breath of fresh air. "Dumb fun" is never any excuse to enjoy a movie according to just about any other critic. And they're dumb for it. Thanks for bein real dude!

It's a B movie slasher film there's been like 8 Chainsaw movies the OG is a product of its time it can't be replicated I see no problem with the makers saying Fuck it and just making a B movie slasher with Leatherface.
Meh I could name you 6 movies that won Best Picture the last years & I had fun with this movie, fuck ‘em I mean what do you expect getting into this movie some heavy dialogues & philosophical messages
Yeah let's just shove a real world issue into a "dumb fun" movie because we need that realism in a movie where a woman gets a chainsaw shoved through her in the most violent way possible and she is still able to have a heart to heart with the protagonist.
That realism was super neccesary
I actually kinda liked the scene between Leatherface and Sally, not because it was good but because of the potential it had to be good (if that makes any sense). I'd like to think that Leatherface actually remembered Sally and let her life because of that
But having the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre final girl dying in a pile of trash ruined the whole movie for me, so disrespectful

The way the kills disturbed was actually what I was hoping for. I love it when horror does it when really no one escapes and the main character loses
You gotta give them credit for giving some depth to these characters most horror movies at least the last couple of years don't even bother and the makeup artist for always giving it there all

it’s really hard for me to watch horror movies. these videos are amazing. i love watching them and getting the same entertainment and joy from actually watching the movie. James is an amazing host that’s just makes these videos worth watching
I really liked it tho. You had the chainsaw kills promised, the "surprise" at the end and, honestly, just the characters including hardesty lol

This movie was a huuuuge letdown. Especially that Laurie Strode… I mean Sally Hardesty angle. Not sure what the thought process was in writing that.

I made the right choice to wait for James to cover this movie. The behind the scenes details and recap are more fun to watch than the movie itself.
i love horror movies and they typically don’t phase me in the slightest unless it involves children, but this one left me not wanting to be alone and leaving the lights on lol
There should have been an extended scene in the sunflowers. That part was both beautiful and terrifying. Sunflower fields are now terrifying.
I ended up not minding the annoying sister character once she was in the house with Leatherface long enough.
But wish they didn't kill off the mechanic guy, at least not so soon and so needlessly. He was the one character that was truly good.
