- Another longer "minute" episode but for good reason, because it's all about the Belmont heirloom whip and one of the best known weapons in video game history: the Vampire Killer whip. I touch upon how it became the bane of vampires and how it's evolved through the ages and battles with Count Dracula.

Ive always liked the idea of a whip as a holy weapon. The Belmonts smite evil in God's name.
I kinda want to learn how to use a whip now.

I like the explanation that a whip is an ideal weapon to fight vampires and monsters due to the fast speed, and that the holy nature of the whip can inflict damage just on contact, so not all hits need be fatal.
i mean the animated series OG 4 season kinda did it with how the morning star just needs graze or scratch a vampire or demon and it turns them into a freaking grenade. and it was the only weapon who made dracula fall to his knees i'd imagine if trevor got atleast a couple more hit's on him dracula would be dead.
@@ashwolf2006 That sounds easy on paper. But Nocturne also kind of disproves this considering the whip there, while consecrated, is not making night creatures and vampires explode on contact.
@@acgearsandarms1343 the whip in nocturne is different from the morningstar, the morning star in the og 4 is The Vampire Killer, which is currently lost in the infinite corridor, the one richter uses is the whip that trevor used in season 1 which is the equivalent of the alchemy whip , and unlike the morningstar/vampire killer the consecrated leather whip seems to require it lands a fatal blow on a demon or vampire, since alucard took two direct hits from the whip and didn't explode. one on the stomach and one on the side. but in nocturne the whip can't seem to do that anymore but it can easily tear through flesh and armor easily. probably because of the writer's weakening it.
@@ashwolf2006 Yeah, that never made sense if you notice closely. However the same leather whip was able to make night creatures explode on a single hit. Like when Trevor dual wielded them against the one in season 3.
@@acgearsandarms1343 yeah and in season 1 when trevor was blowing up monsters with the regular whip, by hitting them on the head with it. for an instant kill and in season 3 he was also hitting the demon with both the morning star and leather whip simultaneously.
i forgot to mention that when alucard got hit by the whip two times his injuries where smoking as it was hit by a burning object. my guess is that the leather whip can kill weaker monsters on one hit, but when used against stronger enemies it just wound's/burn them badly, and in alucards case he got hit twice and his wounds weren't healing for a while and both wound's where smoking.
while in nocturne the whip that richter uses doesn't even do those two thing's at all , i mean he used it to cut a night creature in half but the creature didn't explode.
while back in the og 4 a fatal blow from the leather whip will blow up that thing.
I like the idea of the VK having some sort of vampiric traits... would make up for a good reimagining of the Belmont's and VK beginnings

considering the VK whip's vampiric nature to drain the life of it's wielder if it isn't a Belmont is also a failsafe just in case the current user tries to use it for other purposes.
the vampire killer whip is my fav weapon to use in any game it just feels right

I have been thinking as you said the more the whip, as said the whip seems to grow more in when it sheads the blood of evil.
But the idea of Raiki is that the more its used the more better it gets. And another fact that NO one talks about the fact that the whip houses Saras soul (god bless her Amen) and so that make its a Living being.
And as with all Living beings the more we do somehting the better we get at it. so why not the same for the whip.
I was the heirloom and understand only too well Vampire Killer is the Holy Whip and does not kill it's wielder once any Belmont and/or Morris gain full control over it.
Seems like links master sword is very similar to the vampire killer whip.
Can the Hunters whip from COTM be considered a Sisters whip to the Vampire Killer?
I'd say it's more likely the Hunter Whip is the Baldwin's attempt to mimic the VK whip and the Belmont's style of fighting. In the time the Belmonts disappeared, the Baldwins tried to fill the void they left and decided to also use whips, but not necessarily any of the ones the Belmonts used (that we have evidence of, anyway).
COTM is not canon to the main timeline the same can be said with CV64's holy whip
Hmm. I'm not sure if the whip actually changes form or whether that is just the game showing the weapon upgrading, taking on a different effect. It's possible, but the Morning Star is actually a horrible weapon and not remotely practical. It'd be less flexible nor as durable as the whip considering it's made up of chain links, plus wielding it would be entirely different. The actual historical Morning Star (on a stick) is more practical. However, it's alchemic, so durability wouldn't be an issue.
It's all fun and games until magic is involved and the spell to unleash full potential is added to the mix. Because that's what happen in Simon's Quest. You get the morning star FIRST then go see the guy who cast the spell that turns it into the flame whip. You can't get the flame whip without the morningstar first because it is the morningstar. At this point, it is safe to assume any notion of durability becomes irrelevant. XD

Or its two different whips... It could easily be that.. lol The male heir who needs to make a new whip probably needs a new soul too. A nice dark though about the Belmont clan using dark magic to kill vampires. Its also possible that the whip also is the reason why Dracula never fully dies. lol
Nah wrong. It's always the same whip. Dracula can't die fully because of his power and the crimson stone, which grants him the powers of rebirth and resurrection every century.
it's the same whip through and through, what your talking about is the non-cannon/retconned castlevania games in where it is inferred to that there are 2 other whips. for example CV64 the whip that Reinhardt Schneider isn't the VK but an actual Holy Whip.
while in Circle of the Moon Nathan uses the Hunter's whip, which is a bit closer to the vampire killer.
but those games were not part of the main timeline.
