Assuming you want a small phone, go for Mi 9 SE. If you wanna best spec, K20/ Mi 9T.
There you go
But the camera I think is better in SE.
No, the MI9T is just like the MI9Se spec wise.
*xiaomi
K20 Pro/Mi 9T Pro is what you meant. The SD730 in the K20/9T is pretty similar to the 712 in the SE.
Mi 9 /k20 pro
Nice timely review! Just planing on buying this phone one of these days :)
this phone is perfect for me until the no headphone jack part, fookin hell
I really feel the same but that really doesn't bug me if you buy a dongle
The one i dont like about it is it has no SD card slot
you get an adapter with the phone
Which is the best compact phone with best cameras and full hd display
I like MI 9 cause of snapdragon 855...SE is...
i was waiting for you to review this phone! great job!!
Wow, crazy. Thank you for this review. Much appreciated.
So confused in the smartphone jungle.

Great review as always. Nicely done GSMArena!
It's interesting how our views on phone sizes have changed. A phone with a 5.97" screen is considered a compact model. When I was getting an LG G3 a few years ago, it was considered a phablet. It had a 5,5" screen - one of the largest available at the time and it is pretty much the same size as Mi 9 SE.
The lg 5.5 screen is a different ratio so it is actually wider than this mi9se
something about the videography improved a lot !
Easily one of the best non-obnoxious and fast paced review that covers more than we could ever ask for that I've seen of a smartphone. Thank you.
Does it have screenrecording in general or just for Gaming? To compare with the iPhone x which can screenrecord CZcams Videos for example?
Angie, please review the Mi A3 next week. Launching Poland Thursday. Thanks!
@Blacktoothgrin reviewers can get new mobile before launch.
@@gobimurugesan2411 doesn't mean they'll get it before launch
@@bri1085 no they can get.
Is this the Xiaomi Mi CC9? I would like them to review it too. Might buy it :3
@Blacktoothgrin interesting... Mi A3 is already available in my country.... Global version...
Awesome review Angie, thanks!
Quite sad that an almost 15cm tall phone is considered compact by today standards. Sony almost nailed it with the XZ2 Compact and then went all nuts about tall aspect ratios and redundant buttons.
Coming from a Moto G5 Plus, the Mi 9 SE does not feel really smaller to me, so I'm left with the S10E or Pixel 3 and their flagship price or with the now "old" XZ2 Compact.
hey! exactly the same problem here. let me know if you found a solution.thx in advance
But mi 9 se is almost the same size as the g5 +
Go for pixel....
I can feel you man!!!
exactly. i feel like im carrying a brick in my pocket. Whats so hard abouty putting good specs on a small screen device. No everyone wants a tablet as a phone.
I'm using the mi 9 Se and it's honestly an amazing phone. Great photos, doesn't lag one bit, great for gaming. Great audio
This review is so superior. Wow.
I like your reviews a lot. They are on point, and super easy to watch, keep it up.
Too bad the SE doesn't support wireless charging. Don't get why this feature so often is not included on the midrangers. Processors often don't make that much of a difference in daily basis, which is why the Pixel 3a and the Xiaomi f.e. are just the best values at the moment, when you consider the size. Actually i like the size of the original Pixel 3 the most.
Just wish the more pocketable phones had bigger batteries
Woaaa GSM this is first time i got you channel. Automatic subcribe 😁😁😁 . I always use your web to see the advantages of a mobile phone
The kid is back!!!
Need advice, which phone is better between the xiaomi mi 9se or the Samsung a50?
Good review and totally agree why are phones so big? Hope we see more folding phones but in a much smaller form factor
how about including the LTE band availability when ur doing reviews on these chinese phones?

Is there mi 9t (not k20 pro) in saudi?
How to mirror the phone if it's broken LCD and can't turn debugging on the phone?
Hi, what's the song in the 3:00?
That's a hell of a BRILLIANT phone, trust me! I've got it! I DO enjoy it like a kid with new shoes. 😉
How's the battery?
Good LEGENDary review as always.
Battery life is too poor for bad reception conditions with 73h GSMA battery test...
It's poetically actually better than what it seems to be as miui had heavy optimization similar to emui. And it will squeeze out every drop
Awesome review keep it up as always
Just ordered this phone to replace my Moto G7 plus, mainly because I'm sick of massive smartphones and the SE is about as small as you can go and still get great performance.
Now had this phone 5 days and it's fabulous, quality feel of the very best iPhone coupled with a smooth android experience I'd recommend to anyone.
You in the us?
@@fernandoups3248 No, I'm in the UK and still hugely Impressed with the mi 9 se 👍🏻
@@danwhitaker5168 I'm looking for an affordable smartphone, I am leaning towards an g7 with Google fi then I saw the xiaomi a3 then this beauty 9 se but I'm just worried about service . I'm in us. TMobile looks like the best option for it
@@fernandoups3248 if you're not bothered by the size the Moto g7 or G7 plus is a very good affordable smartphone, I just wanted slightly smaller and the mi 9se is better in terms of performance, camera etc.
In the UK T-Mobile is called EE and all networks have their own coverage issues.
How does the SE compare to the mi 9 lite?
Currently have Mi 9 SE, and overall it's been great, apart from:
- Camera bump is real, and I never noticed how often I used my phone while it's on the table below my keyboard, so it wobbles a lot.
- Camera is overall great, currently don't see the benefit of having 2X camera when regular one can do 48MP which allows some digital zoom (someone correct me if im wrong)
- and another thing regarding the camera, using the main cam in pro mode at 48 mp turns out to be grainy and slightly washed out colors (but in regular auto mode its fine, just in pro mode at 48mp)
Now onto the good bits which I didn't know/think I would like about it:
- Glass back, but it's flat which for me is better than curved back, since it makes the phone slightly sharper and thus, easier to hold (for me at least)
- Fingerprint scanner worked great so far, set one finger 3 times. It's not slow or super fast, but it registered everytime so that's a plus.
- OS wide night mode is nice, and always on display offers some preset themes
- Selfie cam is pretty nice, didn't expect it to be that much of an upgrade from my Redmi 4X, and the bokeh effect worked fine for me
How about the battery life on a regular usage? Screen on time?
@@johnsamuel261 This is just from the "feeling" but in comparison to my Redmi 4X, which was 720p + 4100 mAh, and this one is 1080p + 3070 mAh, it's probably just a tiny bit worse. (still good enough for my regular use day)
Didn't really do much testing but, 25% (100>75%) of battery = 2 hours of reddit, some youtube, and some internet browsing. So I would guess 7.5-9 or so hours of screen on time.
Don't expect this phone to last a long time, and if battery life is your concern you should probably avoid it since it's only 3070 mAh. On the plus side, you get 18W charging brick, which charged 54%>94% in 33 minutes. Not the quickest, but much faster than my old phone so it's fine for me.
Some other reviews state that videos taken with the Mi 9 SE suffer from frame dropping. Have you suffer this issue?
The same here i have a redmi 4x , i am planning to upgrade to mi 9 se , so let's say it would hold you to one day of use ? With no gaming , some CZcams , Facebook and web browsing ? , And have you tried gcam on it ?
@@PablOScar1 I will test it out later, haven't paid any attention to this. Do remind me again if I forget to reply in the next 48 hours

Hi, does have notch option?
So it appears you have to power the device up to operate the in display finger print sensor ? This seems like a bit of a backwards step in progress to me .
How is this good ?
The old style FPS sensor where it powers up in one go still looks the goods to me (wont be parting with my Note 9 in a hurry ) .
The same goes for any start up system that requires a push of the power button first , it is just a fail in my book.
Who told you under display fingerprint scanner need the phone to power on to use?
Just put your finger and it still scans.
it is good but not that accurate and instantly fast. yes its kinda a step backwards.
you don't need to power up the device, just tap the screen with your finger and it will scan...
Great to see your not wearing the hat again great review!
No word about VoLTE or WiFi Calling. Guys, you have GSM in your title and you should give more attention to it …
Btw., VoLTE and WiFi calling are both supported with Mi 9SE.
Rename: Dual-VoLTE-arena 😉🌻
One of the few reasons I strongly opted to Mi 9 SE, coz Angie reviews it.
Edit: By the way, I just got my phone today, 9/28/19. I fell in love by Mi 9 SE, the size, the power, the audio clarity everything. Thanks Angie. Despite, the compromises, the lack of headphone jack, small battery (which is compensated by the fast 18W charger out-of the box), Mi 9 SE is premium built, metal industrial design. I ♥️ Mi 9 SE. A compact flagship.
I watch this on my mi 9 se..have been using it since July. Good phone
@@alanlts The display is not cheaped out, Super AMOLED, indeed. its 1080p FHD+ super deep black neat 😊

Can you please check out A50 again after recent updates ??
should i get this or samsung a50 ?
Hi. I really need to get a new phone but I'm so confused.. need your opinion straight up. Have a Lumia 950xl with the continuum dongle(?) and for the most part I was happy but then came android one.. suddenly all the apps started to no longer be available, either immediately or from a specific date in the near future. I'm not a power user but I need my fix on CZcams Instagram and maybe a strategy game. I have a chromecast and use it daily from my pc and I have a Galaxy TabA t590 which I'm happy but since I only got it from ValDay I still dont use it to it's full potential. Before the Lumia I had a combo iPad 2 and iPhone 5 and they worked perfectly and synced happily with each other. Also pics are important but not essential, video too. I guess my question is: can I get the same (well maybe better ) combo with any android device (got my eye on the mi9se,pocophone and their price range) or do you recomend the a50/a70? Sooo confused..
If you don't care about the size, a50 and a70 are quite nice.
Would you review the Mi 9 Lite please?
I am a user of this phone for about one year, now i facing network problem, the network some times gives no signal, i wonder if anyone has the same problem, or has anyone the solution to the problem,..!?
How about review for Mi 9 Lite?
Watching this from my Mi 9 se 😍. I'm loving it
How about battery!?
@@daovanchuoi5908 yeah, I was using an iPhone 7 with 91% of the original battery capacity, so it was a disaster, compared to that, this fone is lit.
I'm actually not very sure about how good it would be in universal terms, but using the battery saver, I could harvest a full day in relatively heavy screen use (social media and videos).
It is true what they say about the screen: it's an amazing panel, and the compact phone I've seen for this price range and quality. Definitely recommend if you're looking up for a small device
Me too Mi9se user here
I wish GSMArena did a video review for Nokia 8.1.....it would have been nice.
Yup, it was a mi 8 se or an mi 9 se competitor
What game was that?
Is your a50 had a yellowish tint?
a50 is slowish....
is this still good for 2021?
Install poco launcher mi own launcher is available.one of the best launcher in play store
Welcome back Angie. I miss you!
this one or the 8 se
🙌 2021 loving the dark mode amoled 👍
The only reason I went for this phone is that it's comfortable in one hand, and has an IR port. I love being able to go to a new place and just turn a TV or Air Conditioner on without having to hunt for a remote. Plus the Camera is above decent, and that's all I need
They finally reviewed my phone over a month after I bought it!!!
me too. I was waiting for this before I bought this.
What's the battery like
battery isnt bad nor great either. It charges very quickly but it is small... For me the biggest issue with the phone is the chipset but only if you are a gamer.
@@HABO2210 Honestly, it's 'ok'
That means that if charge my phone to 95% by around 8am, it generally would last me until 6pm, at 10%.
I generally keep a power bank on me incase I push the phone too far and need to top up.
I frequently use mobile data and bluetooth, and i keep wifi on too. I take a few pictures daily.
Also if you're looking for a power bank, ensure it supports QC3, with 18W of charging, as that's the standard for this phone.
Xiaomi gave them money to review it now becouse they didnt sell anoth from the 9 se evry one buying the mi 9 /mi 9t/k20 pro/note 7

Not yet
what issue is it?
Push Notifications appearing then disappearing quickly, and not showing up in the lockscreen.
@@TheKenpachi-99 , probably that's how Miui devs implemented it esp in phones with notches, it odd but it is what it is unless users suggest to change things a bit

@@thexastray1016 I just looked at the radiation values. I'm defiently not getting 9 se now even though that was my favorite :P
Why is no manufacturer making a mid-range phone that is smaller than 5.8 inches and still has all the specs you expect at that price point? The Nokia 5.1 plus and 6.1 plus duo are the only ones I could find that got close. Every other phone is either too big or doesn't have the specs I want.
Does it affect when using the screen protection layer on the fingerprint reader
Just buy the Xiaomi CC9 if you want to have an expandable version of this. It also looks way cooler along with a headphone jack
