The way u exhibit the promptness of the finger print scanner is so logical. Some so called tech reviewers place their finger and flip the phone to show how fast it is...sheer stupidity

Why when i switch to video mode camera become greenish (green tint) like some filter applied on, especially on lowlight, the green is more noticeable.
Photo shot is okay and great. But why video looks greenish.

i am using this mobile and i am facing an issue, i can not connect my phone with may laptop as its says my MI8 drivers are not installed and i cant find its driver online. Please help me in this regard its a headache transferring files and photos to my laptop using internet or Bluetooth.

Have you guys ever noticed any fluctuations in the volume of any Xiaomi device? I've got two of them, redmi 6a and mi 8 lite, and both oscillates the volume when using the internal speaker. Everything looks good using the headphones though.

Omg the camera is very very very good and eye catching.
It can run Windows 11 with the least restrictions on renegades compatibility list. Time to buy this now since SD 845 is so much faster than Celeron 4100 on a tablet PC.
what about the sound from the speaker ?? is it good ?? comparable with iphone ??

Lukasz Kacprzak it's only have single speaker , decent though . iPhone is stereo and good
been using it for two months, the main camera is really solid, definitely one of the best on any smartphone. but I agree that the performance is not really what I expected from a snapdragon 845 powered phone, there are stutters and lags sometimes, but no real delays. Anyway, it's definitely the best phone under $500.

It should be pointed out that the incredible price is achieved by Xiaomi injecting ads even on the preferences screen, and although with lots of patience most can be turned off, you never know if next update will bring ads back without possibility of removal. Xiaomi has officially stated this is their business model, as they barely make any profit on the hardware itself.
You could try the ROMs from xiaomi.eu, which are not vendor-supported (though some distributors in EU use it officially, apparently), but you risk bricking your unit.

I bought this phone 2 years ago and i'm still using it very well. It's fast and reliable. I don't plan on buying a new one anytime soon. It's slipped from my hand a few times but doesn't spot a single scratch. Camera is awesome too. I tend to have bad experiences with other brands but Xiaomi is the best for me so far
I bought this phone 2 years ago. I accidently forgot the window of yacht open and some drops of water fell on phone while i was sleeping. Water was so less that, i had a toilet paper near the phone and it was still usable. Even toilet paper survived from the water, phone could not. Motherboard and memory card, all oxidized. All my information is gone. Now i am looking for an iPhone 11. It was my first try of Chinese phones after using iPhone 4S and 5S. Now time to get back to Apple. Sorry guys.

Which bike racing game were you playing?
1:56 now that's how you are supposed to show how fast the rear fingerprint reader is.
No mention of LTE band support.
No mention of the poor audio recording quality.
No mention of the fact that the dual-GPS thing so far doesn't seem to be performing any better.
No mention of the fact that even though the display panel is good, it's not properly laminated so blacks are greyed by reflection.
Come on GSM arena... this is half a review. Plus for the price, a comparison with the MIX 2S would be nice, same brand, same software.
For those interested, MIX 2S has:
- Similar rear camera performance
- Worse front facing camera
- Dual speakers
- Wireless charging
- Ceramic back
- Properly laminated screen (but LCD, a very good LCD though)
- No notch

According to many other reviews, dual-GPS does improve accuracy. But it highly depends on where you are, what satellite system you are using and the satellites above your head at that moment. Because only newer satellite support L5 frequency. If the satellite above you don't support L5 frequency, then no improvement at all. Likely you will see bigger improvement in China or Japan, because many new satellite are launched recently.
Ah, that makes sense! But I've seen other reviewers actually show lower accuracy as well... that's at least strange. But it may be just software.
- Mi 8 Has most of the important bands (even band 20)
- Poor Audio recording is a known thing with many Xiaomi Phones, its also REALLY bad on the Mix 2s
-GPS Accuracy depends on a variety of factors.
-No headphone jack
-Snapdragon 845 (like Mix 2s)
-Better Score on rear camera and better front camera.
-IR Face Unlock
-Reallly cheap
I cant comment on the lamination.
Mix 2s :
-Turn the whole phone around, just to get a normal selfie, EVERYTIME
-Also has no headphon ejack, like Mi 8
-Ceramic back is not necessarily better.
- LCD is LCD though, some people prefer energy saving and blacks with AMOLED.
- It might have no notch, but I rather have one and be able to take selfies normally and have face unlock with IR.
- Mix 2S is found more expensive than the latest Xiaomi Flagship, Mi 8!

Why wouldn't they put in an 835 instead if they can't cool down the 845 properly? Would save the consumer money while getting similar performance, and the 835 is fast enough.

Just curious, why your Mi 8 are in MIUI 9 not MIUI 10 ??
Reviews from China are using MIUI 10, they seem have better performance and none of them have heating issue. Mi 8 back are cover with large area heat dissipating graphite, almost double the amount compare to Oneplus 6.
According to review from China, the performance of Mi8 is almost identical to other 845 phones. Do you think adding Google's Apps on grey imported phone affect the performance ?
MIUI 10 is still under development, for some devices (including MI 8) it's entering beta, others are alpha or non-existent. They're probably using stable ROM, which at this time of writing, is still of version 9.
Just MIUI experience, even on same MIUI version a user could has different experience than other.
