- So I bought a BRAND NEW Launch Edition Xbox 360 console from eBay... I'm excited for this one! I bought my first Xbox 360 in 2009, so I never experienced the unboxing of the launch Xbox 360 console. Since it's a Brand New Launch Edition Xbox 360, it should be on the Blades dashboard... nostalgic! Let me know in the comments what your favorite Xbox 360 dashboard is.

I know you won’t see this but I love your vids and I have been subbed for a while 🥰
Worth every dollar
OMG 😱 You hearted my comment thank you so much 😊
i collect machines like these, If it has a developer/publisher label on the corner like that, it 99% of the time means it was either an in-house console used for testing the game on a retail console, or it would be used to showcase games at press events or expos like E3 Etc.
Considering the excellent condition on it and the controller, I'd say there latter - Could have been used at an expo a few times and then put back in the box as there was no longer any use for it.
@@Streetw1s3rYup, they're either absolutely immaculate, or had the crap beaten out of them.
So you buying the sticker😂
I remember as a child there being a midway sticker on my console (I live on nz)
@@smailftp can you remember how you got it?
The Midway sticker, copy of Stranglehold, and overall condition of the unit implies this may have been a free console that was given to members of the development team as a thank you for their work on the game. My guess is that the CA number on the sticker is some kind of employee number or possibly a location reference. Perhaps the CA stands for California or Canada?
Sounds reasonable
Sounds about right. It could also be a demo unit for a Midway booth at a game convention. Maybe at E3 or GameStop’s manager convention?
if true, thats actually pretty cool
@Joshua Paul wait wdym Wait idk are you talking about jacob?
Man I loved stranglehold.
Man, I've been on a nostalgia trip. I remember opening my presents Christmas morning 2006. I remember setting everything up and being greeted with the blades dashboard.
I think the reason why I like it was the simplicity and sleek Ui design. There were no advertisements taking up majority of the screen, no tile boxes. Just 6 separate rows for everything you needed.
I think this is the whitest 360 I've seen in recent years.
For sure lol. Most are pretty dirty or at least have marks on them
I still have an OG one that’s colored red😂🤦🏽♂️
@@enxgmatxcofficial I have a purple Xbox 360 E still 💜
@@ItzCloudChaserr yeah but the e isn’t much older than a Xbox one
@@largejoe2195 the relevance is that the E isn't as popular, hence why its rarer, plus the purple variant adds onto the rarity
The midway asset tag implies that this 360 was purchased by Midway. It might have been used for play testing, or more likely was purchased through Midway and was given to an employee who bought it through Midway.
Yeah I was thinking it was used for testing but your 2nd thought makes sense as well
I miss the Blades Dashboard so much, I just loved how it matched the 360's asthetic and the sounds when swiping up and down the Blades
When the NXE dashboard came out I really hated it as it lost those qualities I liked
I wouldn't know I got a 360 slim the year the xbox one came out and it was the only dashboard I really knew of.
The times before ms decided to bloat the dashboard with ads, this ui was truly intuitive
Best thing about the original dashboard was that not only was the dashboard itself customizable, the guide that comes up when pressing the middle button also changed depending on the theme.
I bought my blades dashboard console last year, it wasn't as nice as yours but it means a lot to me nonetheless. What was cool about it is that I actually bought it on its 15th birthday completely on accident. I bought it on Nov 15th 2020 and the manufacturer date was Nov 15th 2005.
Nice!
It was ment to be
Hehe.
Funny.
My 15th birthday is tomorrow
@@NightyFall Happy birthday!
I find your last statement to be rather odd. The Xbox 360s were manufactured from 2002-2011. The blades dashboard was first released with version 1.28 of the dashboard. Upon further research I found that this update was released on Nov. 14 initially for already existing Xbox systems. When I looked up the manufacturer website for IE Systems, the factory used to produce Xbox systems, I found that batches made from Nov. 12-19 2005 actually did not ship with the blades dashboard but the experimental slice dashboard that was later phased out only 20 days after release.
I am assuming that is an asset tag from Midway. Used for tracking inventory of items owned within the company. The scannable upc bar would have information of what department the Xbox was assigned to. I think that adds to its value. That’s gaming history right there. Good find!
The sticker is an asset tag companies use to keep track of their hardware. Companies usually have dev/test kits for their purposes but they also buy retail units for various purposes. It’s a safe bet this console was bought by midway, used for whatever purpose, then put in storage and forgotten for a while before it was found and sold.
I had an Xbox 360 512MB Memory Unit. My brother and I both had a 360. He got the Premium set (with its 20GB HDD) around launch, and I got the 120GB Elite model a while after that version released. It was before they added support for using any USB falsh drive as a Memory Unit, so I would use official Memory Unit to bring my profile and saves between consoles.
Nice, I need to buy one of those memory cards... Ive never used one for the 360 (other than a flashdrive once support was available for them)
I use a flash drive for saves profiles so when I go to a friends house I can play using my profile and my saves
Ah the 360 Core. Unlike the more premium model, it had a white CD tray bezel and it came with a wired controller. It was later replaced by the Arcade variant.
Those manuals I'm fairly sure should have come in the sealed bag that you found under the console, also the sticker from the disc drawer isn't there? Plus wire tags would have been on all the cables... I think that's a slightly used example rather than new.
That sticker is probably an internal unit Midway had to test final retail games as you said. The dashboard may have updated with Stranglehold which was a 2007 game from memory
That sticker is for equipment tracking. We use these things in my line of work. The fact that this was an OG console tied to the now defunct Midway studios makes this thing extra bad a$$.
I had an arcade 360 in the UK that I got for Christmas in 2008. Came with a memory card and the blades dashboard. I was honestly amazed as a kid that my memory card was 256 MBs as my PS2 only had 8.
Took me a good few months to get it onto Live so I was surprisingly familiar with the blades dashboard before which made this video surprisingly nostalgic. I really miss this era of UI design and packaging, it just felt so much more alive.
Man I remember calling a Gamestop near me in January 2006 asking if they had any 360s available. They had one and it was the core system; so I rushed there and bought it with a memory card and Quake 4. Had some great memories with this system!
I did the same, but mine red ringed after a week or so, i exchanged it for another one which red ringed after about a month, third one lasted just a little over a year at which point the eb games warranty i bought was up, so i purchased another one used which ofcourse red ringed after a short time, i took it to a repair shop which they charged me $50 to repair, well orcourse after repair it lasted less then a week, i took it back to the repair shop 2-3 more times at which point they gave up lol…..so i bought another one, guess what happened to it lol…last 360 i bought in 2009 and it still works to this day….even though it gave me quiet a few problems, still my favorite system of all time!
@@duuke4618 Dang, that's unfortunate. Mine that I got near launch lasted like 3 or 4 years. But one that I got from my uncle that he barely played only lasted a month or so. It was definitely like playing the lottery owning one lol.
@@duuke4618 I got the model that came out after this one, and it red ringed several times in its life, but always turned on again fine after a few minutes then would last a few months to a year before red ringing again.
The tray got real slow though and eventually it stopped reading discs.
@@Coreisus basicly models which were released before mid-2008 had a 60-70% failing rate….those that were released staring end of 2008 are good quality, like I said my 2009 model still works, altough the disk sometimes get stuck, but i rarely use disks anyway
@@duuke4618 I replaced mine with the 360 E(the one that looks like a small XBone).
But it was still working when I replaced it.
I betcha if I could find the power cord it would still work.
God I remember buying one of these back in 2006. It finally red ring'd in 2015, so I guess I'm lucky it lasted that long. My 360 slim luckily has lasted just as long
That is a pretty good life for one of the OG consoles
I’ve had my slim since it first came out (2010) and it still works fine! I do miss my old 360 tho :(
Rip to your beast of a console
There are several discrepancies that indicate that the system is not brand new, not sure if you noticed these but might help other people looking for brand new systems.
Manual isnt sealed and was cut up it should all be in the plastic.
Plastic covering the console is crumpled, MS packaged the systems really tightly so it will be smooth if it was just removed once to check.
Asset tag from midway
The system wont be scratched if it was covered in plastic.
Foam pads looks in terrible condition.
Chances are the system belonged to Midway and was used to demo their games in a kiosk (will look very new)
PS This comes from experience dealing with selling xboxes back in the day, we had to test each system before it left the store due to RROD (yes we got dead consoles on launch) unboxed hundreds of them
It definatly was updated to the 2007 dashboard and was made in 2006. It has the windows vista media center logo which vista wasn't realised until 2006.
Agreed
My buddy got one on launch day in 2005. Kmart had a midnite launch and you could only get in if you had a ticket, which you got when you pre ordered and fully paid off the the core or the "fancy" one as people called it then. They only had about 100 units. My friend waited in line for a few hours in the snow in a long line which went from the parking lot all the way to electronics which took forever. People tried to sneak in without tickets and where taken out. That day later his friend at work told him his edition, the fancy/ pro one, was selling for one thousand on eBay. He called me debating but decided to keep it. His edition got the red ring early sadly. I myself waited and picked up the slim edition on launch.
5:36 when he unboxes that pristine white controller, all of the nostalgic DLC memories just unblocked in my head... the OG xbox 360 controller is the best designed controller of all time in my opinion.
9:10 same here. I got to use the Blades once on my friend's 360, but I got one in 2009 with NXE. NXE is still my favorite
Yeah NXE was probably the best. Blades is nostalgic but not the most functional. The most recent (metro I think?) Is fine except for the baked in ads
@@jrob0021 thankfully those ads are gone now, although it's sad that it's because it's the end basically
My brother was born 1 day after this console was last updated, October 7th 2007. Hard to think that far back honestly, and amazed that's how old the Xbox 360 is.
You just owned a piece of gaming history.
Yah

I love these 360 videos alot, really cool console you got. Also i didnt know they came with a factory wired controller either, i have the box saying 'go pro' one and it came with one og wireless controller and a wired one like that, great to learn that.
Also i happen to have a pre release console Xbox 360, most dont know that theres 360's made before november 22nd 2005. Mines the earliest one ive seen, it's dated 2005-09-16
Also your 360 might've been just used as a dvd player which would make sense with everything on that
I love the blade dashboard. It always felt unique and special to me. Whenever they updated it a small piece of me died
Very nostalgic for me. I had this exact one also without the HDMI but it came with a wireless controller. I also remember the old dashboard. It's pretty cool to see now. I also had the memory card on the top and a USB memory card too
I believe the core system came with 4GB used for console settings. So you needed to buy either a memory card or official hard drive.
The Xbox 360 slim came with 4GB
Truly the golden age of gaming.
Maybe if you’re 5 or never played an SNES
Screw gaylo 3
@@nicks4802 imagine even thinking the SNES had anything on the mega drive
@@nicks4802 unironically still saying gaylo 3 in 2022…truly sad.
Only the core system came with a wired controller. It also didn't have HD cables or a HDD. The Premimum had the wireless controller, HD cables(Component) and 20gb HDD, and a headset. The launch system also gave you a media remote
The red ring happens from the board heating and cooling down over and over again so if its new u wont get a rr out of the box refuardless of how old it is. U will however get one over time on this model
That is the primary cause, but not the only cause. Tin whiskers from the lead free solder bridging the BGA connections in the GPU and CPU can cause the issues also.
I remember getting my 360 with Kinect for my birthday all those years ago. Eventually traded it 1-1 for a first gen Xbox One.
Idk how I came across your channel, but watching you open that box surprised that the 360 only had wired controllers back then makes me feel old😂
Wow that's really cool! I never experienced the blades dashboard because I got an xbox 360 in 2012 but it looks great! I also really like the first NXE dashboard too.
I remember the blades dashboard, brings me back. Played crackdown on that
I remember the green box was called the arcade version I think and it was like a base model. The white box was called the premium and came with a wireless controller and a hard drive for $100 more
As one who had an arcade console in 2007, its uh, dead sign that its been used for a while; the stickers from the faceplate and controller are missing. it normally has one saying "Dont move console with disc in tray" and one on the controller of a finger pointing to the guide button. I remember sticking the disc drive warning on my old CRT tv lmao. Edit: its also missing the 64mb memory card that came with it
I grew up with the NXC dashboard, I was too young to use it in 2005 when we got our 360 (born on 2002) so when the NXC dash came out I was allowed to use the 360 since my brothers only let me use the ps2 and gamecube prior to that
A few reasons i love the 360 better than Xbox One:
1: Nostalgia
2: Shorter boot-up time
3: Dashboard is easier to navigate through
@Greeny what do you mean?
@@weezernerd12official you don't need to download an update to play the game

I can boot the XBOX One Series S in like 2 seconds and to get to any game I want, I just move the cursor down and click Games and Apps.
Man this brings back lots of great memories from my childhood, I bought a second hand core 360 circa October 2007 with money I used saved over the summer working various jobs as a teenager. It was exactly like this one, plain white, no hdd and a wired controller but I had an additional 256MB memory card for my gamer profile and save games.
Once I got the console I modded it and used to burn bootleg games onto dual layer dvds which were extremely hard to find where I lived and had to order them via ebay and wait a couple of weeks for a batch of dvds. Yes I know it was wrong but it was the only way I could ever afford playing games back then with my limited resources.
It red ringed on my in 2009 I think. Never bought a 360 since but I'm currently trying to play all of the games I missed on my Series S. ❤
I used to burn games for modded 360 as well. I bought a computer and the 360 from a guy back in 2013 who would mod the consoles and set everything up on the PC so you could burn games. I had GTA weeks before the release. I spoiled it like an asshole for all my friends. LoL.
@@justinward7331 I remember playing GTA IV on my 360 for the first time and how my mind was blown by the big graphical jump that was from 3, Vice City and San Andreas.
My dad had a blades dashboard Xbox in 2006 and it red ringed. He fixed it but then it did it again in 2007. Then my grandpa bought him a new Xbox 360 in 2013. It wasn’t the old blades version though and since my dad had pre-ordered an Xbox One, he let me have it. No matter how old my Xbox became I still always played it with friends.
Those core units support HD output through the component cable. Also beware, some games actually force it to update to the new dashboard, so be careful what game you test it with.
Not with out an active internet connection… dip
Lol you'll need the wireless adapter
@@CollynPlayz that honestly blows my mind, thats a thing.
@@AlejandroIrujothe update is printed on the disc a lot.
@@AlejandroIrujo Newer 360 games have the Dashboard update on the disc and will force it regardless if you have an internet connection.
This was the cheapest unit they sold. It had no HDD and came with the wired controller. Notice the disk tray door was white matching the system. The more expensive version with HDD and wireless controller, the tray door was chrome.
When I got my 360 we were fresh off the memory card era. We had memory cards from ps1, ps2, dream cast, and Xbox. So I bought this version and a 64mb memory card thinking I was good to go. While it saved my games I couldnt install many things on the console. Like the avatar creator,
I bought myself an xbox 360 brand new at walmart when I was 15. It came with the memory card which had barely any storage. Most games told me I needed a HDD installed to play. I finally gave up and bought a 120gb hdd for the top of it. The console lasted me 6 years before I Sold it, it was still working like the day I bought it.
I got a 360 premium with 20gb hdd in 2008, I remember the blades dashboard and loved scrolling down marketplace trying to find free games to download
My cousin and I both had OG 360s like this back in the day. He also had a memory unit he would save his profile and game saves to when he visited we could play some splitscreen Gears of War or Halo!
The midway tag could be from a midway game for the 360, or it could be for a brand or company it was resold by. Both are reasonable answers.
Agreed

I like the nxe dashboard it just hits different plus I have a 2010 xbox 360s launch it still has nxe so it's good to look back from time to time
The core pack had no memory/storage. You needed to purchase either a HDD or memory card in order to store profiles, save games, DLC etc. It was replaced with the arcade pack that originally came with a 256mb memory card or 256mb internal storage in later reversions. You can't stay on the older dashboard forever. You'll soon encounter a game that will require you to update to a newer version in order to play.
Yeh I had the arcade version with the built in 256
And he’ll probably just go to his other Xbox to play that game then if he has one of course. Lmao no reason to ruin what’s special about this 360
When I bought my 360 Arcade back in 2007 I had a Wireless Controller and the Memory Card that came with it… Looked like a white little micro chip! 😅 Ahh the Blades take me back… Especially when I bought the 360 I got Bioshock when Bioshock was a 360 Exclusive back then… still have it. And the first Assassins Creed! Later on I was able to add the 20GB Hard Drive on top, then I went to get the WiFi Adapter! Man the 2 Piece and a Biscuit Days at least now we have everything we need in the Box…. Kind of… More storage could have been a thing when making the newer Systems!
I’m back in high school right now. This is a trip
11:18 it doesn't let you change the settings because you are using the composite video AV cable, which only supports 480i and doesn't support any HDTV settings. A YPbPr component video cable will allow for progressive scan up to 1080p.
Man, the hardware design STILL holds up.
I never used the memory card but the dashboard was such a nostalgic throwback. So many days spent in my friends basement playing the original gears of war
Hey Jacob, Quick Question can the orders from your site be shipped worldwide?
Unfortunately I'm just shipping to the US right now. Maybe international in the future
When I first got my 360 it was on the blades dashboard but of course that's when 360 was still the current console and I wanted to be able to play with my friends online so I immediately updated it
Yeahh you had to do it. I think the only ones left on blades are the consoles that are still new or people just stopped playing (or have RROD LOL)
Brings back to many memories, I had a launch day console. I also suffered though the red ring of death.
I can't help but wonder if my og launch 360 still has the blades dash or not. It's just sitting in my office closet collecting dust.
Ohh might be worth a check
That dashboard brings me back to loading up COD 2 and Gears of war back in 06 then Halo 3 in 07.
i remember in early 2006, i went to eb games. Traded in my old xbox, ps2, all the games and accessories for both. Got enough store credit for the core system, memory card, quake 4, and rockstar table tennis. Had to make do as a 12-13 yr old
Blades Was The Best But The One After Blades Was Good Too💙
I do like seeing these older consoles get some light, however I knew from the back of the box this wasn't going to be a first gen 360 as it showed GTA IV on the the rear of the box. whish wasn't announce until mid 2007.
The PS2/OG Xbox and the Xbox 360/PS3 are the two best generations of gaming. No micro transactions, quality games, quality DLC, the best multiplayer, etc. The PS2 era was my all time favorite.
People that saw the Current dashboard: Bleh.
People that saw the blades Dashboard: NOSTALGIC
Microsoft should have us choose which dashboards we wanna use for Series X. I'd choose blades.
Obviously given to people that worked on stranglehold. Sept 05 2007 release, so that dash update in late Aug 07 was likely the only time it was plugged in. Day they got it.
Man 360 was awesome. I spent countless hours playing with friends after school.
I remember being in 4th grade calling Walmart everyday! Trying to get the 360 pro but one day I called and they said they only had the arcade so I got it 🤣
I mainly remember the Kinect nxe menu before the metro update happened
that exact model 360 was the first one I had bro! this is nostalgic! I played Forza Motorsport 2, and Minecraft. Can't remember other games.
I wanted to have 360 with blades but as soon as the rrod started to spread on all these consoles i didnt bough it. I waited some time and i bought phat Xbox 360 Premium in 2009 which was newer so I knew it wouldn't die and it didnt died. I own it to this day and still playing on it.
Good call. I got my 360 in 2009 as well
my guess is that the console was given to midway employees but the one who got this one already had a 360 so just left it for a while maybe.
Anyone else notice how the Xbox is from 05’ well it shows GTA 4 on the box which came out in 08’?
there could be a hard drive there is just a safety cover on it to protect it I have use the memory cards they only had 512 mv at the time it was worth it if you kept very few items on it
I know they put in the description that it was "brand new" but due to it being an open box most likely the seller tested the system to make sure that it worked before it was shipped out. So you wouldn't have any problems if it did not work. So technically it could have never been used for any gameplay to word it a little better.
It was updated August 2007 so even if the seller did test it, it was used 15 years ago regardless.
That midway sticker with the barcode i think thats a property sticker ive seen similar stickers on the appliances in my apartment when i had housing could be a dev kit
Careful if you want to keep the blades dash i think some of the newer games come with a dash update on disk.
That is true. Some games contain the update.
How did you not have a memory stick! Did you not see the magical box inside stores for us while our moms shopped and you bring your memory stick with and plug it in and get free stuff lol
I own a OG Xbox 360 that was manufactured in September of 2006 and it still works great!

it's scary the value anything "collectible" gains. A used 360 with controllers and games sell for 30-40$ on marketplace.
I’ve been wondering when I got my Xbox 360 for so long, and I only just now thought “why not just look up when the menu styles changed?” Because I remember the blade dashboard I think? I remember when it changed and didn’t have the “flipping” menus anymore, but I had one of the black Xbox 360s

Oh awesome. Nice! So cool to see a white 360 that doesn't look grimey
Ikr lol. This one looked real nice... Except that it appears used 🧐
@@jrob0021 oof. Doesn't look like it saw much use so probably has a longish life ahead of it.
I hope you held on to this one, the midway assets tag makes this 360 a cool piece of history and I'd love to own it... 😎
