So I decided to look for the cheapest Original Xbox on eBay (working), and I found it... but it's not so great. Check out the video to see what was sent to me! I'm not sure people test their consoles anymore before selling them...

Hmmmm Xbox 🎮
Both!
PS2 or Xbox.......I Can’t choose one over the other. In fact I’d have to add Game Cube too. Sorry
Xbox
Gc
I got lucky about 3 years ago and found a super clean one at goodwill for 10 bucks in the box with underground 2 in it! No cables or controller though but it works well so I am happy with it.
That's a great deal, especially if it's in the original box
@@jrob0021 It was and in good shape too! My best thrift deal that I can remember other than finding a Pokemon Blue cart for $4.
Well, I once found an original Xbox console at a local charity shop here in Australia. It did not have controllers, but it did have the power and AV cables, and it only cost $8AU! ($5.80US) And it still worked.
I later on found a Nintendo Wii console just abandoned outside my local Tender Centre, just where we parked when we visited there. I enquired about it inside, and they said I could have it for free! And did I mention it had a copy of Super Smash Bros Brawl inside?
@@jrob0021 bruh why do you keep buying these used products?
@Dora The Handsome where are you from
Cheapest console I ever purchased was a Dreamcast at my local thrift store for 75 cents. It was $1.50 on the sticker price but it was on a 50% off day. I don't think they knew what it was. A little while before that I found an NES for $3 and a GBA SP for $6. They've since skyrocketed all their prices and if there ever is an NES there it's usually at least $50 or so.
That's crazy
@@jrob0021 I found a 2ds xl for $17 at my flea market
I was able to find a sega nomad at A small thrift store in Oklahoma.. So I started ordering Genesis games because it's basically just a portable Genesis it's freaking great
The cheapest console I ever bought was a backwards compatible PS3 off of eBay. They said it turned on but it had a problem with the HDMI port. Turns out, it was just stuck on the Composite settings. I got it for a whopping $40, if you check now. That's an awesome deal 🙂
I bought an phat Xbox 360 for only $20 (no cables) the listing said the disc drive was stuck and it had the rrod I tested it and yeah the disc drive was stuck but it turned on and worked I asked the seller which red ring they had and he/she sounded confused and replied four red lights light up when I turn it on (which means the av cables were not fully plugged in not working or the port is dead) so I cleaned up the system (the disc drive rubberband was dirty which cause the disc drive issue) so basically I got a working Xbox 360 (minus the disc drive issue) for only $20
My favorite line in a majority of these videos "Minimal packing material. Hopefully it still works..." -Jacob R
Lol I just don't understand why so many people refuse to package stuff correctly. It's not that hard.
@@jrob0021 Lol I agree 100%. People are just lazy it would seem. Keep up these ebay unboxings. Really enjoy your commentary on them. If I could make a suggestion for a future video, I would love to see you buy the "Playstation 3D TV" off eBay for a video. That would be interesting to see how it's packaged and if it functions correctly with the glasses and what not. Especially since those things are not known for their reliability.
Cheapest console I ever bought was a brand new sealed Gamecube at a yard sale for 25 bucks, included with Mario Sunshine and Turok Evolution. Apparently it was a Christmas present that sat in someone's closet for 10 years and forgotten about.
I used to refurbish and mod these with my son. Still have a few setup with coin ops and loaded hard drives. Great instant Mame machines. If it’s a 1.0 to 1.3 gotta yank the bad clock capacitor or the console will at some point go fubar.
I found a cheap PS2 on Ebay for $30 back in September. The seller said that they found it in a “Junk” bin at a Pawn Shop, and he bought it and found out a wire wasn’t connected to the motherboard. So he fixed it and I bided for it and with tax and all it was $61.02. Pretty solid.
I got a GameCube once at a Goodwill for thirty bucks, didn't come with cables or a controller, but did have Smash Bros. Melee hidden inside. Also once got a perfectly working original XBOX with a few games, the cables, and controller for fifty, probably my two best finds.
Dude whenever I sold something on ebay I made sure it was clean!
Yah I think most reasonable people do haha
A few years back I found a GameCube at a Savers with a controller for $35.
I used to watch you all the time on my dads youtube account in like 17 and i still watch you to this day
I had the same problem I had to clean the laser lense with alcohol and a cotton bud I also changed the rubber band that ejects the disc tray. I have had my xbox for about a year and runs very good
It’s seriously disappointing watching people sell you this crap time and time again. Especially for a machine that’s now over 20 years old. 🤦♀️ Although I can’t stop watching these videos! 😂 People should take better care of things, man.
Lol yeah, I have a higher rate of unsuccessful purchases because of the type of things I buy (like in this case, it's the cheapest console, so there's more risk to it)
You’re leng still
I’m so excited because my internal power supply came today! I’m excited to install it and play with my Origional Xbox for the first time in a couple years!
chip it and replace hdd with a ssd :)
@@Alexander_l322 yeah I already did it when I was first seeing what was wrong with the power supply, luckily it didn’t leak a single drop.
I fixed the Xbox now and it’s working! It still has problems like the hard drive is dying and making a lot of noise and I forgot to put in a screw from the last time I opened it and afterwards found it. The disc drive also is on the fritz when opening/closing it and it thinks that it is still open when it’s closed. I think some other screws were missing from last time, but i’m still really happy that I got it working.

@@thesmashtvnetwork I’ll look for it, I was also thinking of doing that too
Same exact thing happened to me this year when I bought the cheapest Xbox on eBay. Seller was nice tho and I got an immediate refund even before returning it. Sadly OG Xboxs have notorious disc drives
Good to hear you got a hassle free refund
Here’s a tips: I once bought a 20 dollar aud Xbox and the disk drive was broken. I managed to unjamm it by taking out the rubber band and putting it in a big mug filled with 80 degrees c and I sprinkled some table salt in the water. Once the process was done I put the band back in and resemble the console, surprise surprise! The disk drive opened! It it could not read disks sadly. I will try fixing the lenses.
I had this disc drive issue with mine. I have a launch unit and it wouldn't open after a year or so of owning it, so I thought it was broken. I put it up and just bought another.
I came back to it and wanted to relive my older days for a bit, I wanted my saves. So I opened this console and oddly the disc drive started working... nearly 20 years later lol.
My best find was a hardly used PS1 with all of the cables for 10 bucks. No yellowing, perfect disc drive, not modded. Awesome.
Paid about $80 for my original Xbox last year & works just fine very little scratches on the case the only thing wrong was a sticky disc drive which I fixed myself & other than that it also came with a media remote with several games to go with it so I think the deal was well worth it, I love having it in my room, it’s cool to have a piece of technology from the early 2000’s
Good god, 50 dollhairs for that, with that description, they were really trying their luck with that, hope you managed to resolve without too much hassle.
I haven't payed over £15 on ebay, what like, $22.
Although, I did miss out on a lot of 4, 3 months ago for 9.50 each including postage, I was kicking myself for weeks about that when I saw how low they finally went for, I coulda've just bid 4 quid above everyone else & got them for that.
But I only really wanted them mainly to create a 128MB console as I do enjoy emulation on them, but the stock CPU is a bit weak for some emulation, & you can't really do much in the way of upscalling or really any texture manipulation.
So I've hesitaded on doing the mod, I never modded any console before in my life, ogXbox was my first, & it was relatively easy, I mean, all it requires is pacience & good googling & reading skills, but yeah, I think I'll still attempt the mod, just so I actually have 1, & I might look into upgrading the CPU as well with a switch to toggle overclocking & stock speeds.
But I think I'll just move onto 360 modding for a propper emulation station, the lack of dreamcast & PS2 emulation just bugs me too much, & the slow down in some titles is almost unworkable at times, but then again, most of those titles it happens with is down to how much memory the rom consumes.
Few consoles found at Value village / Savers (in no order):
Jungle green N64 $20
PS3 slim $20
Original Xbox green console $30
PS one with official screen, controller, DC car adapter and crash bandicoot $30
Game Boy Micro anniversary famicom, new in box $30.
(edit, all priced in Canadian dollars)
All within the last 4-5 years. Still have them too.
Nintendo 64 got it for $5 it was filthy but after cleaning the housing and cartridge contact pins it works like it’s brand new
nice
My grandpa found one with everything and it works it was on side of the road very happy with it
Consoles like this are perfect softmod candidates, I have revived many an original Xbox with dead DVD drives by swapping my working one into it, running the splinter cell exploit to softmod it, then upgrading the HDD to an SSD(mainly for reliability). BAM, a digital only Xbox that can have games ftp'd straight onto it from a PC.
Great video.. My cheapest console - Nintendo NES with one game, leads, controller, Zapper - 20p (UK) back in 2000 - it worked too (and still does today)
hey Jacob! today the Wii is 15!
Awesome, I didn't realize that
This still is my favorite Xbox design. It’s the most beautiful Xbox to me.
my cheapest systems: last year a gameboy advance sp for 10€...
this year the original xbox with all cables and with 1 controller and 3 ganes for 25€...
and this year too a ps2 (the last fat) with all cables and 1 controller , 1 memory card and 10 games for 50€.
“Someone messed up”
Not good for a 20 year old Xbox.
I just got an OG Xbox for about $50 2 days ago and luckily it works like a dream and it even came with it’s original cables and a controller
Not surprised. I won a Auction on there for one that was cheap and less than a min later the Seller chose not to sell it and said he could get more money selling it for parts.
I have birthday party on Saturday! And after this I show you a new Xbox series x halo infinite edition after my party!
10.00 goodwill. Perfect working condition
Got an Xbox last year from Goodwill for $10. Had power cable. Plugged it in at store and it was flashing orange-green. Looked it up and it has to do with no av cable plugged in so I had high hopes. Bought it and then bought some av cables for it. When I got the av cables and plugged it all up, the system booted up just fine. Great find especially since I didn't spend much on Stone Age Gamer to get an av cable and an aftermarket controller. Ended up with the console and controller for about $25.
I enjoy your channel so much because it's also what I do. I bought 2 og xboxes, 2 xbox 360 slims, and an xbox one in the last 2 months so I am always on ebay looking for deals. I found a Halo edition 360 and slim model both for cheap, the Halo edition 360 will be here Tuesday so fingers crossed on the opening 🤞🏾 I always get concerned I'll get burned but ebay is usually good about protecting buyers
Was about 10 years ago I bought an NES at a flea market for £5 / $7 USD, it was nice and clean but no cables, controllers or games, after buying a controller and some cables it worked just fine with my old games.
Purchaased a used working Gamecube compatible Wii in Australia for $20 from a charity shop. Console, AV cable, 2 x original nunchuck + controllers + motion plus adapters + silicon sleves. Plus 2 x Wii wheels $3 each.
Do you think this console was actually tested before they sold it to me?
Tested for airtime.
I found a brand new one in the bin at work
I found a pretty great condition Original Xbox at CEX a few years back for £25. Amazing deal!
Cheapest console I have bought was a Sega Mastersystem (USA) with box complete with everything and zapperfor 5 dollars at a yard sale. Second cheapest was a slim ps2 for 8.99 from a yard sale without anything but console came with the sims 2 though. The AV/Multi port was rusty from water damage buuuut. I cleaned it up and got it working fine and gave it to my SO, he loves it.
are these any exclusives i could try in an Xbox Emulator
I got one for sale how much would you offer bro?
I found a 20 dollar original Xbox at a local thrift store, but I didn't get it and I regret that.
I got a Super Nintendo, an OG Xbox and a Wii all for $80 in really nice condition once.
Happy 20th Birthday Xbox
Risked it on a local listing. This guy had a collection and gets more consoles from fixing up houses. The guy wanted 25$ with no wires. I bought the xbox in like new condition for 25$ i have tested it and regard that as my favorite experince
I just bought an og Xbox with 2 dukes and a perfect s controller. Av cables but no ac adapter. Had one at home. I'm guessing it won't power up due to the caps. Don't have a t20 so I gotta wait it out. DVD tray is totally loose too, hope this isn't too much of a headache lol
Well I am old enough to remember when you could pick up a NES for $5 and have bought a few. But my best pick up would have to be back in 2020 I got a working 60gb backwards compatible PS3 with the warranty sticker still intact for $60 off of FB marketplace local drop-off.
I bought a crystal green, and black model, all complete and in box from eBay years ago!
You remember for how much? Probably cheap haha
@@jrob0021 Yup, probably around $80 bucks complete with tons of awesome games. I used to play them but they’re just part of my collection now.
memories. thank you microsoft 😔
Edit: oh no... you’re screwed
It infuriates me when sellers don't even bother to wipe a system down before listing. Ffs it takes a few seconds! Lol
I agree
Cheapest console I ever got was a Famiclone for one dollar. Not a very good one, but still, one dollar!
Almost anything is a good deal at $1 lol
Cheapest console I ever bought was a fat PS2 in great condition with all cables and 2 controllers for 20 bucks at Goodwill
cheapest console i've ever bought? Fat model PS2 for 20 bucks, picked it up along with Xenosaga Episode 3 back when gamestop was clearing them out.
My brother bought me an OG Xbox last Christmas it’s packaging was alright it came in really good condition but holy crap there was so much dust and dust balls inside so days later I opened it up cleaned the hell out of it took out the clock capacitor and it looked like it came out of the box day one it was 100$ with 2 controllers and 8 games
i bought a 30 dollar dsi that was refurbshied and it was luckily in really good shape
Dang that's not a bad price
well when i'd go with some people to help out Savers i did the first time going there find a blu-ray player for $8 i think and it worked and i did get the controller later on after making sure i knew it's details and now i use it time to time but i also let family members borrow it if another player isn't working
cheapest console i ever got (besides a gift) was an Xbox 360. i haven't opened it, but i believe its a zephyr, and my only nonjasper phat 360. it was originally 60 or so, without shipping/tax i was going to say no because i already had 2 working, a slim and a jasper, but he knocked the price to 20, plus 20 shipping/taxes. so 40 dollars for a fully working console. only downside was no hdd and it needed a cleaning.
I got my 2 Xbox 360s for £10 --- which was refunded when I said "Where is the PSU + AV Cable ?"
They were described as: 1 working 1 with disc issues ---
They both needed a new rubber band and one was shut off mid-update ---
So I used the second hex value shown to give it the update it needed.
I bought an xbox 360 for 25$ dollars just for the cables for the 2 other xbox 360s I have. They both had hardware failure (1 ring and 3 rings), but the one I bought works so at least I have something of value
I bought a xbox 360 slim at a yard sale for $20 and some games the fact that it works and no bugs I'd say it was a win.
please take note did you open it up there’s a capacitor that can leak I don’t remember what it’s called but I had an original Xbox and it the capacitor was leaking
My cheapest console I bought was a ps3 slim complete box (like manuals etc.) for around 250 PLN which is about 50 USD
Just freaking hit it like everybody else to get it to open. It’s like the Xbox version of blowing in the cartridge.
Opening the disc tray isn't even that big of an issue, it's the fact that it doesn't read (which may be an easy fix, but doesn't change the fact that this console was sold as working)
I got my the one I got on launch and a few Halo editions I picked up along the way
I had no idea you could open the disks tray manually with a paper clip i probably wouldn't have had to keep the top of my xbox lose to pop it open to switch games 😅
Hahaha yeah
I actually bought a WII U with a full set of accessories for 30 bucks. It works fine so I really scored
I still own one, just need cords n controllers and I can boot it up.
Maybe they used halo to test but as it’s travelled with a disc in it could have damaged it
I got an Xbox 360 for 5 dollars and it was on the last NXE update that supports jtag
The Samsung drives on the original Xbox are notorious for having sticky disc trays. It's caused by a stretched rubber belt that moves the tray in and out. What people usually do is they leave a game in the tray because it doesn't make the magnetic disc holder go down as far on the spindle because of the the disc being in between. Which will make the tray eject a bit easier. The real way to fix it is to take the belt out and clean it and if that doesn't work, you can use something called Rubber Renue, which should restore the belt back to the way it was. Could also buy a new belt too.
I switched out the belt on my Philips DVD drive when I modded my Xbox.
@@megacide84 Yeah? Hmm. I guess it was having trouble opening? I've never found any original Xboxes with stuck Philips disc trays.
@@1980sGamer
Actually, there wasn't anything wrong with the drive. I did an overhaul of my system where I ripped out the clock capacitor and dusted the insides. Replaced the CPU/GPU thermal paste. Swapped out and cloned the stock hard drive with a spare 500GB hard drive. Replaced the drive belt on the DVD drive considering the age of the unit.
With a modded system.
I can now fully install game discs and play from the hard drive. Similar to current gen systems. That'll save considerable wear and tear on the Philips drive.
Consoles are super expensive in the us I think I payed about 28 pound or 18 pound one of the 2 for 2 backwards compatible playstation 3.s and my original Xbox was like 5 pound come with 4 pads as well as the hard to find small memory cards that go into the top of the controller even had the dvd receiver and it's controller
But will you be keeping Halo 2
i got an xbox 360 for £20 with all cables and a controller but the disc tray got stuck but if you tapped the top it would open sadly 6 months later it would read :( lol
I bought a xbox 360 early this year all complete £40 and works fine, always concerned buying a console incase faulty but so far no problems and has come in handy as i can play san andreas, without buying new version.
That console needs servicing and replacing the clock cap and probably cleaning the laser should fix the issues, the xbox is a very good quality console and easy to work on
Agreed, but this one should've worked in the first place since it was advertised as working
@@jrob0021 Ye i agree, if you pay for something that is supposed to work it should work
10 bucks and had house of the dead game in it.
It was dirty as thy come but clean up nice and works great.
My current PS4 I have now I traded my entire Pokemon Go account to my friend for his PS4 as I stopped playing Pokemon Go and had a lot of Legendary Pokemon and a bunch shiny Pokemon.
Cheapest console I’ve ever bought? Original Xbox for £1. I’ve had some great deals lately, picked up 4 GameCubes for £10 each, a Wii U for £5, PS1 for £5, a Dreamcast for £15, PS2 for £5, PS3 for £10 and just the other day I got a SNES in great condition, with a controller for £40. At these prices, I’ll buy them all day long!
Cheap consoles on Ebay are possible too find its a hit or miss in quality like my 60 $ phat ps2 I bought from Ebay the disc tray would make a weird noise when I take it out but other than that just a few scratches other than that it works fine, also the HD compartment works great too just takes awhile too load up some games too but other than that for 60 $ it's pretty good deal
i saw one for 1 cent like 2 years ago
I bought an original model PSP for $20 at a goodwill late 2019 or early 2020
i have a og xbox but its makeing this wered buzzing noise
Bought a 2ds used at cartridges and galore for mainly 200 used
my dumbest purchase was a sega dreamcast. it was a decent price tbf, 100 bucks for a controller, VMU, and third party rumble pack, with cords....but i have no games, it didnt come with games, and uh..the games im interested in are over 100 bucks each. lmao. so its a shelf piece for now
I bought a Xbox for 3 € ( Germany ) and the COnsole works great, i modded it...great Console so far!
You can contact the seller and ask for a partial refund.. since you’re probably able to fix it you can save yourself the hassle of the return. But I’m with you because I’ve returned stuff I don’t feel like messing with. They should have sold it for less
Yeah the thing is there's no guarantee I'm actually able to fix it (even tho it's likely, you never know)
I got really lucky at a flea market and some lady was selling all her sons stuff including a psp 3000 and she let me have it for 5 bucks
I cant even sell a fully working one with controllers and everything for 40
The cheapest console I've gotten so far is a sega genesis for $11. I've probably gotten some xbox 360's for like $10 back in the day but they were definitely broken, the genesis worked fully!
And it wasn’t one of those cheap atgames knockoffs right? Thank god.
I bought a lot of 2 untested ones from goodwill for $56. let's see what happens.
Got a PlayStation ad on this
Uh oh
Oh wow omg a 20 year old console has scratches on it!
I got a softmodded Xbox with 2 s controllers av cable and a power cable for £20 from a charity shop
I think you just need to clean the disk tray and the disk tray will open and close good
Most likely, but it was supposed to work
My cheapest console was a playstation 2 from a yard sale for either 20 or 25 bucks
I bought an original Xbox for $20 bucks a few years ago at a yard sale
Lmao its a block of drywall like on GTA V
