On the newer model trucks there’s a part of the seat that opens up which is for a car seat to fit in but I struggle finding out how to use it

Safety first doesn’t allow these types of seat protectors/covers, the car seat may not preform properly in the event of an accident with what you’re using on your seats. They only allow the use of a single layer towel with their seats. Also you cannot have the latch strap twisted like that.

Nice video. But you forgot the tether attachment on the back of the car seat. Otherwise the seat will flip toward the rear glass
On our car seat, the rear anchor is only used when the car seat is forward facing.

I committed a bit ago about if there was a car seat on your truck. Lol. Well let me tell you a bit about the double cab vs the crew cab. My truck is a double cab and is shit. A pain in the ass to get a new born to a 2 year old to get in and out of every day. If getting a new silverado.... get a crew cab. Otherwise the car seat will be right next to your head, and in the middle of the front seats.

Your install is a little incorrect. Car seat covers (both camo and the thick one) aren’t allowed and actually can cause a bad install. With your car seat specifically- it has a red line at the top of the side of the seat that you have to follow for the rear facing recline (has to be parallel with the ground). Usually you’ll need a tightly rolled and taped towel under the car seat base between the lower anchors to get that proper recline. Also your lower latches have weight limits so check those out in the manual that came with the car seat. To make sure it’s properly installed you have to have less than one inch of movement at the belt path using your non dominant hand only. When your little one is buckled in the seat please make sure their straps are at or below their shoulders when rear facing and at or above when front facing. If you have troubles getting a tight install using the latches search up “inside out tightening method for car seat” or switch to the seatbelt and make sure your belt is locked and pulled tight. Hope this helps! 😊
