- In this episode we’re finally putting the last of it back together, release bearing, pressure plate, installing the transmission and installing the clutch release fork pin
I tortured my mechanic and had him do a clutch without removing the engine on a 1995 993 c4. This process took him the longest.. He deserves an award for getting that pin back in. Car drives like a dream
It can definitely be done, but I had so much other work that needed to be done I had to drop the engine. They really are dream cars!
Brilliant video - very clear and easy to follow. Thank you.
Im glad someone could find it useful!
These are superb Porsche workshop videos, helped me out a lot. Keep up the great work! I'm not American but having watched these I can't help myself - America!
I’m glad they’re useful for ya. My son and I had some fun making them!
thanks for putting these videos together it gives a lot us lots of useful information. 👍
I’m glad someone is actually watching these ;)
@@beardedgarage I have to do my injectors soon, getting inspiration from your work.
@@frxa2739 I love working on these cars. I’ve got a whole set of cool plans for the other 993
@beardedgarage so cool! Have you done a rebuild of the rack and pinion? I guess the main problem is that the chrome gets pitted on these units.
@@frxa2739 I have not. Honestly, I’ll take anything apart anything, but both my cars are still running well. This 993 only has 40k miles on it. I only took the motor out, because all the rubber and plastic was dry rotted
I appreciate all the lighting and angles. Keep up the good work.
Great job. I am at this stage on my build. That clutch release section was quite helpful.
I'm glad it helped out, let me know if you need anything specific
Incredibly detailed and helpful!
Thanks so much
I’m glad it was useful for ya!
Yup, stand on it worked for me …
I have that same book I am using for my rebuild.
The factory Bentleys are expensive but worth it
Awesome video. Quick question: My '95 has been sitting for a while. When starting recently, I pressed the clutch pedal to the floor and it did not return. It stayed in the down (floored) position. What could've caused this?
I would guess that you have a leak in the hydraulic system. Is there any fluid that you found that leaked out? There's a clutch slave cylinder on the top of the transmission which is a super pain to get to if you don't drop it, but it can be done.
In this video, at 4:00 minutes. What is the part number for that hose kinda laying on the oil filter? I think that hose comes from the crankcase breather but I don't have it and need one. Thanks.
Just got back in town. I was able to read the part number off the breather hose: Part#: 993-207-143-03-OEM. Looked it up in Pelican, it looks identical: www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/99320714303.htm?pn=993-207-143-03-OEM
@@beardedgarage Thanks a lot.
Did you have any trouble getting a shop to resurface your flywheel? I have gotten all manner of response hers in california from you cant resurface a dual mass flywheel to our machine will chatter and it takes over a week to do the job.
No problem at all, just took it down the rd to the local guy. He did it while I waited, maybe 20 minutes?
@@beardedgarage I was not able to get anyone to do it today. Went to 3 machine shops. One referred by a Porsche shop. Said because of the way the DMF is made they aren't able to mount it. Lots of folks on the RL say that it can't be resurfaced. Well I saw your guy do it and do it well so here in Cali I may not be able to get it resurfaced. Will see what I can do.
@@ocmacman17 Interesting. The guy I brought it to said it was no big deal. The only thing he had to do was take out the pilot bearing so he could mount it on his grinder.
@Trenton Dennis Any chance you can take a look at your vacuum lines and help answer a few questions for me?

@@beardedgarage I posted the diagram up that I went by. I will be reviewing my hose setup in the morning and will take some pics. Will also be stopping by my tech for a few items and ask him.
