    I tortured my mechanic and had him do a clutch without removing the engine on a 1995 993 c4. This process took him the longest.. He deserves an award for getting that pin back in. Car drives like a dream

      It can definitely be done, but I had so much other work that needed to be done I had to drop the engine. They really are dream cars!

      @beardedgarage so cool! Have you done a rebuild of the rack and pinion? I guess the main problem is that the chrome gets pitted on these units.

    • @beardedgarage
      @beardedgarage  Před rokem

      @@frxa2739 I have not. Honestly, I’ll take anything apart anything, but both my cars are still running well. This 993 only has 40k miles on it. I only took the motor out, because all the rubber and plastic was dry rotted

    Awesome video. Quick question: My '95 has been sitting for a while. When starting recently, I pressed the clutch pedal to the floor and it did not return. It stayed in the down (floored) position. What could've caused this?

    • @beardedgarage
      @beardedgarage  Před rokem

      I would guess that you have a leak in the hydraulic system. Is there any fluid that you found that leaked out? There's a clutch slave cylinder on the top of the transmission which is a super pain to get to if you don't drop it, but it can be done.

    In this video, at 4:00 minutes. What is the part number for that hose kinda laying on the oil filter? I think that hose comes from the crankcase breather but I don't have it and need one. Thanks.

    • @beardedgarage
      @beardedgarage  Před 2 lety

      Just got back in town. I was able to read the part number off the breather hose: Part#: 993-207-143-03-OEM. Looked it up in Pelican, it looks identical: www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/99320714303.htm?pn=993-207-143-03-OEM

    Did you have any trouble getting a shop to resurface your flywheel? I have gotten all manner of response hers in california from you cant resurface a dual mass flywheel to our machine will chatter and it takes over a week to do the job.

      No problem at all, just took it down the rd to the local guy. He did it while I waited, maybe 20 minutes?

      @ocmacman17 Před 2 lety

      @@beardedgarage I was not able to get anyone to do it today. Went to 3 machine shops. One referred by a Porsche shop. Said because of the way the DMF is made they aren't able to mount it. Lots of folks on the RL say that it can't be resurfaced. Well I saw your guy do it and do it well so here in Cali I may not be able to get it resurfaced. Will see what I can do.

      @@ocmacman17 Interesting. The guy I brought it to said it was no big deal. The only thing he had to do was take out the pilot bearing so he could mount it on his grinder.
