That's a refresh I have been wanting to do for a long time now, but heard a lot of horror stories of doing it wrong. Thanks for sharing your successful experience and documenting the steps. I am motivated to take this project on now.
It’s really not too bad of a DIY job. Cleaning up the old adhesive is a PITA, plan on spending and hour or two just cleaning everything. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video, great job. Do I need to disassemble the whole sunroof in order to replace the piece that is glued to the car body (around the front of the opening)? Thank you
I can't completely say since I removed the moonroof to do the job, but i would recommend removing it. You probably have enough gunk to clean out that I think the moonroof would be in the way
No, not if you're just replacing the "front" weather strip. Just open the moonroof to it's most open position and tear off the old strip, clean and glue on the new one. Super simple.
I used the 3M adhesive and although it worked great on the felt strip, it didn’t adhere at all to the rubber strip. I had to strip that gunk off the sunroof but it left absolutely no residue stuck to the rubber. Any thoughts or any other adhesive recommendations?
I’d still use the same 3M adhesive, I’d just recommend using less than you think you should, apply to both sides (car and rubber strip) and let them get tacky before you put them together.
I went on Amazon to find that sealant. I kept seeing adhesive with Gasket. Your's doesn't have the "gasket" part, are they both the same? Where can I get the one without the "gasket" on it or are all of them now with gasket?
Your vid gave me the confidence to do this. Parts ordered, thank you!!!
And looks like I’m subscriber 993! 😂
Give it a shot, it’s not that hard! Just keep the glue off the paint. It’s definitely easier with a second set of hands.

Thanks for the suggestions and thank you for posting what you do, adding an extra dimension to Porsche ownership!
I rubbed lacquer thinner on the rubber strip, let it dry, and it did wonders for the adhesion.

If you’re talking about the 3m tube, I picked it up locally at autozone
Yes, that's it. I'll go down to AZone and get one. Thanks.

Did you get another 993? It's AV green like mine. Wow.
This is my first one. I bought this one 15 years ago. She's always gonna be my baby.
