  • My first ride on the Stark Varg. Claimed to be the most powerful electric dirt bike on the market! We took the Stark to one best enduro venues in the country ( The Mick Extance Experience) to test it out off-road and see how it copes. We're running a motocross setup with 19 inch rear wheel and tubes but we need to test it again with full enduro setup. let's see how it rides in the hard stuff.

    2stroke sound is goat but I must admit I'm starting to enjoy the peacefulness electric bikes bring when riding through the woods and countryside. And that you can just talk to each other is amazing too.

    I just got my Varg after a lengthy wait and I can honestly say it’s not perfect, but it’s pretty damn good. My biggest gripes are the overly stiff suspension and painfully hard seat, but those are things you’d change on any other bike. It’s so fast on more open trails and still manageable in tighter singletrack, the lack of a clutch is easy to adapt to once you get used to the power delivery. Some hand guards, tubliss, and a revalve will really have this thing shining. I thought I’d miss the engine noise but it honestly never crossed my mind while I was riding, there’s drivetrain noise and tire noise and wind noise that sort of fills the gap for your senses.
    My 300RR is staying here but for most of my riding the Stark will do everything I need and then some.

    • @loz4830
      @loz4830 Před 2 měsíci +12

      @@hondaman3317 everyone whos actually ridden one has said they get tired before the bike does, up to 6 hours of battery on easy trails, an hour going flat out on a motocross track, it lasts as long as you ever really need it to, you'll need to stop and take a break most of the time anyway so having to stop and let it recharge while you have lunch isn't really too bad

    • @mxracingunlimitedltd7784
      @mxracingunlimitedltd7784 Před 2 měsíci +8

      @@loz4830 They said in the video they got 3.5HR's out of the Batteries, during their ride. Which are basically standard tough off-road trails you'd expect to ride. I knew it wasnt going to be 6HRs, thats gotta be like literally putting around in the lowest mode for as long as they could lol..
      3.5HRs is still a good number for me. Thats a good half chunk of the day, you could use the gas bike first and finish the day off with the electric bikes.
      Or you could take a long lunch break (1HR), and use either a wall socket if available obviously or throw it on the generator to probably get half the battery life added back, or even fast charging with 240V and high Amp charging. A normal Generator already has 240V if its a big enough Generato. So it would be able to fast charge it no problem with the right size Generator Wattage rating..

      I actually wrote my reply because a lot of people complain about the lack of noise. But ''silent'' sports like downhill MTB are a as spectacle to watch as any motorsport.
      I'm happy to own a Stark and a Beta 250 2 stroke. I love 2 strokes, but love the Stark a bit more.
      The lack of noise is somewhat replaced by the drivetrain/gearbox wich when you get used to it is actually pretty good.
      The low noise and silent standstill actually makes for good fun when you can actually hear you buddy's.
      Other than that, when not taking ICE vs EV out of the equation, the whole bike is just so darn good. The balance, the suspension, the whole ride is sublime.

    • @RaidOffRoad

      @@Erwin-P I totally get you. i work with trees and have used 2 stroke chainsaws for 20 years and have just started buying the electric tools in the last couple of years. They're so nice to use, its much more peaceful and you can talk to your workmates at the same time as you're working. Every now and then i have to get the petrol tools out but generally prefer electric now.
      I think the starks are amazing bikes and would love to have a go of one but for the riding i like to do at the moment the range wouldn't be quite enough and i wouldn't fancy going out for a days riding with the spare battery on my back. And i'll be honest, i think they would be too powerful for me, my TE 250 is more than enough for my abilities at the moment..... i think a stark would pull my arms off 😂

The Stark is so well built, and the power is always there when you need it, no need for a clutch. If i had $20k Aud spare, i would own one tomorrow. I’ve got one here in Wales. It’s an amazing machine. On faster trails mixed with hillclimbs and a bit of technical I generally get 2.5 hrs before range anxiety kicks in and I get back with about 20/25% left. You won’t find any haters if they’ve ridden one. The build quality is superior to anything else, the suspension too is far better than anything else I’ve ridden and the power is ridiculous and I only run it now at about 40hp. The only things I don’t like is the phone on the handlebar idea as i think it’s too fiddly for me and the weight when lifting it onto the stand and on trails at anything less than 5mph when it feels heavy but after that it feels as light as my old 125. As for the lack of clutch, it cannot be explained easily without riding one but due to the immediate torque and rock crawling type of power delivery I would argue that it simply doesn’t need a clutch but I don’t imagine anyone would believe me unless they rode one. I still think I love my 300 more though……..it just gives me bigger buzz. If I had to sell either the 300 or the Varg then it would be a tough choice but the 300 is staying.

    Got my Varg July 2023 and can honestly say that I haven’t touched my TE300i since then.
    It’s not perfect in any sense, but it’s really good at everything and it feels really fresh to ride. I actually think that the Varg is a better trail and enduro bike than a MX bike. I miss the clutch in some rare cases, also the sound. But on the other hand, I have stealth bike that I can ride in the woods at home and it’s really easy and fun to ride. You really need to ride it to actually understand why everyone who tries one is so excited.
    I think that you should sell your 150 and buy a Varg, keep your 300 for the 4-5h+ rides.

    Cool bikes, and I could see the quietness being an advantage in busy and populated areas.
    Would hate to unsuspectingly sneak up to a bear on one though. Lol.
    Can't afford one of those anyhow. Will have to stick to my good old fun, noisy, urefined, smokey, and reliable, bear and cougar scaring 2 stroke for a while yet!

    Great video and beautiful riding area! Sounds like the electric dirt bike has a lot of advantages, but needing.to keep a spare battery ($$$) on hand would be a deal breaker. Maybe someday in the future when range is greater.

      I don't know ... usually 3.5 hours riding trails and Enduro will require a day or two of rest after for me. Everything will hurt like a Mofo. Maybe I'm just not ride fit enough. 😅

    Sooooooooooo, Mr Midwest I have a question. All my life (53) I have suffered with numbing hands. Four stroke 2 stroke on road off road it matters not. I am hoping that this Varg has zero vibration due to not having an engine. What do you know brother? Does it have any hand numbing vibration? I currently ride a tricked out FE350. Thanks for any info.
