    Hi. Thank you for the excellent guide. I just repaired the trigger in my V11. I had to use crazy glue and JB weld on the one arm of the trigger that cracked (cheap plastic), and now it works. Your guide was PRICELESS.

    This is incredible - And I never comment on videos. Super useful, saved me precious time. The plastic on the cleaner-top of the dust bin just chipped away when I was disassembling for cleaning... felt a bit cheap honestly. If ever, Dyson Europe has good client service, but there is also eBay that seals parts if ever. Cheers and thanks!

    Thank you for taking the time to show complete disassembly; I couldn't have figured it out by myself.
    It appears that Dyson does not want their vacuums to be repaired. I cannot find replacement parts or repair literature anywhere. You noted in the video the bin retainer breaking on a removable plastic piece required replacement of the whole cleaner; the part is not sold. Likewise, on my 3 month old V11, the retaining fingers on the small plastic clip that holts the electrical connector in the machine end of the long vacuum tube broke. It has a part number on the clip, but a Google search on the part number returns only ads for Dyson vacuums. Thus, only the complete $50 tube is available instead of a $1 part to fix it. Glad its under warranty.
    To clean my V11, I simply use an electric leaf blower to blow out all the openings and HEPA filter. It works great!

    There's an easier way to temporarily disconnect the wires! It can be removed from the main motor section by taking apart each section to access the screws to dismantle but then refitting loosely to gain enough access to pop the rubber boot that holds the pins in place from the cyclone zone using a flat head screwdriver and a little force. Then it's just a matter of removing the boot by prying the clip open. To reconnect, loosely fit all the parts together so that the wires protrude enough to refit the boot and then simply pull back into position and then refit as disassembled. Saves so much time!

    • @fredthebulldog529
      @fredthebulldog529 Před rokem

      Yeah I was thinking this as I'm watching the video and trying to disassemble mine. Didn't seem like you need to fully remove all the wiring. I was able to pry out the wires from the end connector that goes to the attachments by just using a flathead screwdriver and a little force to pop out the clips.

    This is an amazing guide, it's been driving me nuts having dirt in the rubber seals of the bin and I got the end flap ones out but had no luck with the vacuum side.. perfect! I think it's a real fault, especially for the price, that its not easier / more intended to disassemble this bin at the very least and honestly cleaning the cyclones easier would be nice too. The unit is obviously quite a lot louder now than when I first got it - air noise wise.

    For those out there who plan to routinely disassemble for cleaning, skip the entire plastic shim and chopstick routine, and instead, cut the wires, and then attach crimp or solder on bullet style wiring disconnects to the wires...then, in future cleaning cycles, all one has to do is unplug the bullet connectors to service the cyclone

    The gray graphite donuts are made of a ferrite material and are referred to as toroids. By looping the conductors through them electro-magnetic fields are setup and aid in reducing electromagnetic "noise." This is often required to comply with FCC interference requirements.

      To expand Jeff's comment slightly, the toroids form a "common mode choke" intended to reduce the high frequency components of the electrical noise generated by the motor, that can interefere with TV and radio reception.

    A very useful video. Thanks! Like most Dyson equipment, the concepts are brilliant, and they work very well - but the engineering is so horribly over-complicated it becomes obvious why they are so expensive! Sadly, useful service information is also almost non-existent, and after-sales help is generally very poor :(

    • @OpenMeUpTec
      @OpenMeUpTec  Před 2 lety

      there is a misunderstading. first service is unnescessary. without doing the stuff in the video your dyson will work like normal. it is just something you do to clean but does not improve performance.second if something goes wrong dyson will replace the item for you without you needing to return the faulty item. you might think this is bad until you tried other vacuum like bissel where you can even disassameble it to clean as they glue it together.

      Thank you for your replies. Still no luck. The screw (deep in the handle) was very tight to undo which led me to the glue suspicion. It turns ok now but doesn’t tighten either. Does it just screw into plastic or is there some sort of lock in there? Anyway, if I put any more force to extract the assembly something is going to break so I’m going to plan B. Forget the trigger repair, reassemble and join the small red and black wires that go to the little connector on the PCB. I’ll turn the motor on and off by taking the filter on and off. Regards Richard.

      the bruch bar only has one setting. only the torque head has different speeds. if it is pulsing then you have a blockage somewhere. please note if your filter is old and has been clean correctly it can cuase the pulse

    we have some bits of stuff falling into the dust collector with each use, that look like little fragments of some kind of black plastic screen... but I don't see any part in your video that looks like a fine black plastic screen... and it seems to make filter light blink, even when the filter is clean... what could this be...??

    • @OpenMeUpTec

      dust builds up over time and looks like pieces of plastic. rub it with your hand and see if it disappears. you confirm your filter is clean if you lift it up to the light and it should be white. if it looks gray or dark like a shadow it is not clean

      @@OpenMeUpTec hi, I was googling around and found some pictures with the identical little bits of plastic ending up in the purple filter... they look like little tiny black plastic dogbones... and they say the sponge is for sound reduction...!
      I suppose that makes sense, a filter that is completely inaccessible for cleaning or replacement would be strange... although just shoving a sponge into a tube for sound reduction is pretty poor engineering also...!
      Why couldn't they just make the top of the tube with a lid to get at the sponge, instead of having to disassemble literally the entire vacuum and motor just to get access to it... :(
      ** So, in either case, I suppose that we could just put up with the sponge slowly degrading, if it doesn't actually affect operation of the vacuum...?

      Hi All,
      I also have a broken trigger. So, looking at the trigger removal section, what I'm looking at is pulling everything apart to get to the trigger, correct?
      Hey Ich Ich, in what way was your trigger broken? And how did you fix it?
      Mine kinda feels like theres nothing behind the trigger, or is not making contact correctly or something. If you keep pushing it quite hard, it does turn on sometimes.. Not sure if pulling it all apart will give me the clue as to what happens to get the trigger working again. But it feels like it's just not making contact or something like that, and is why it doesn't start the motor.
