I watched a ton of videos. Nothing was helping the orange clogging light go away as it pulsated. Your video cured it. Thanks for explanations and taking the time to help random people fix their Dysons!
No problem, glad the video was helpful for you, thanks for the feedback
I really like your presentation. It's a clear (and clean) description of what to do. It may have been sufficient to solve the pulsating problem I had. I highly recommend your post to anyone with the pulsating problem However, before I saw your video, I followed another very good presentation that showed how to take apart all the pieces, including the rubber seals, and using special screwdrivers to remove certain parts for a very thorough cleaning. The lady presenter also showed how to put everything back together again. As I hadn't given the Dyson a proper cleaning in the last two years, it may well have been necessary to do what I did. But next time I shall first follow your post, and clean my Dyson more regularly. Many thanks.
Great feedback, thanks very much 😊
My Dyson was doing just this, pulsing and not sucking and after cleaning the filter it was still not working so I had a hunt through CZcams and came upon your channel - thank you so much for your clear instructions on how to remove the relevant parts, clean and them put them all back and I am most certainly not a DIYer! It didn't take long and I kept my fingers crossed as I started using the machine again - bingo, its like a new machine, I can't thank you enough. I've even ordered 2 new filters from your recommendations so I never have to wait 24 hours for the filter to dry. I feel so happy that I've managed to do this myself because I really thought the machine was finished!! I'll also be recommending your site to friends - if I can do it then anyone can. Top Man !!
This is always great to get feedback like this, i'm glad you managed to sort it out 😊
Very Helpful video. I have a V7 and a V8. The V7 has been having the pulsing problem for nearly 2 years. I always take the filter out and clean it and it works again without pulsing for 10 minutes then back to pulsing. The filter is always packed with dust. I typically tap it the sink and get lots of dry dust out. Every so often I also wash it. But the pulsing issue returns shortly thereafter. I finally took one extra step: I took the sealed cyclone unit off and washed it under running water through all the internal (invisible) paths both through the holes around the top and through the bottom. The amount of dirt that came out was incredible including big chunks of mud. Black water came out for at least 15 minutes and the water wasn't clear until I had washed it for at least 30 minutes. Apparently there was so much build-up inside the cyclones that they stopped working efficiently and the dust went straight through and into the filter causing it to clog very fast. After this "super-cleaning" it works like when it was new!
Thanks for this great feedback 👍
A V7 and V8 filter should almost never accumulate dust on the removable filter. It means that either the internal cyclones are clogged with caked on dirt OR you are overfilling the bin and large debris is entering the fine cyclones and then making their way to the filter. The solution is to always empty the bin regularly and never exceed the fill line on the bin, and you probably will need to full dissassemble the cyclone assembly and clean all the internal parts. Admittedly this takes a while and can be tricky/messy. There are videos on how to do it. At work we remove the cyclone assembly from the motor and then wash the whole cyclone unit in warm water with antimicrobial hand wash and then dry it infront of a powerful fan overnight + compressed air gun, because we don't have time to fully dissasemble, clean, and reassemble the cyclone. Again, the main reason that we need to do that deep cleaning is people overfilling the main bin.
Super helpful and appreciate all the models being included. Solved my V8 issue thanks to your video. I can return the Dyson back filter I ordered for $30 thinking it could be that… thanks to you saved $30, kicking myself for not finding your video sooner, would have saved myself the hassle of the filter return! Thanks for the informational video!
Hi Angela, thanks for your comment. I too have the V8 and in the morning, will be checking over my machine for any blockages . I’m just interested to know, was your issue just the filter, and, if you did have a blockage somewhere, where was it please?
I’ve checked mine over previously, but I now think that the blockage could be in the section where the hard pipe meets the canister.
Now that I know how to completely separate the canister from everything else, I’m going to give it a really good wash and a thorough checking over.
Anyway, thanks again for sharing your success and for mentioning that you had a V8, super helpful thanks, Eve
🙂🐿❤️🌈
Thank you. My V10 is working better than it has for years. I didn't know about the extra drum release button that means you can clean it properly.
Thank you very much for the valuable information. I can tell you are a very detailed person when I saw at the end of the video you mentioned to make sure the bottom flap is closed properly after emptying the dust. This was exactly happened to me. You have to make sure you hear the click when you close it.
Thanks, I bought a new battery for my V6 pulsing, it did help but still pulsed on max lol My other V6 pulses too, I thought the filter looked clean but washed it anyway. The amount of dirt that came out, il surprised it didn’t block my sink!
We need more YT channels like this, it saves us cash and frustration when things you don’t expect are explained clearly. 👍
A very useful video. Spot on! Our V7 was pulsing and I just thought it was dying. I followed your instructions and it's running good as new. Many thanks!
This kind of feedback is always great to hear, im glad it solved it for you.
Spot on! Our V6 was pulsing and I just thought it was dying. A good cleanout and it's running good as new. Many thanks!
Thats brilliant to hear, thanks for the feedback
I had an issue with my V10 and the instructions in this video helped. Thank you.
Great to hear the video was helpful. Thanks for the feedback
Thank you so much, fixed my V8! The very last thing you mentioned was the issue - there was some dust collected around the bottom seal of the container. Cleaned it and now works like new :)
Thank you so much for this - literally just did that and so thankful it worked just like new. Super helpful and clear and to the point.
The best little vacuum I ever had! I have two cats and the amount of cat hair the Dyson picks is amazing I’m really amazed. The best investment I’ve done!!
I just love your voice! You have such a calm, sweet way of speaking 💙
Why thank you so much
OMG you have saved me hundreds if not more $! I was ready to buy a new traditional vacuum cleaner tomorrow because I've had MONTHS of my Dyson V8 pulsing and it's so blood frustrating. Although I didn't find any blockages, just taking it apart did the trick in that now it's just running and not pulsing! I probably do need to clean the filters and undo the floor accessories, but the weather is crappy and so I'll wait til the sun comes out and in the meantime order more so I don't have to wait to use it. Thank you so much, really awesome video.
Great Video! Clear, concise, and you get straight to the point! Many Thanks.
Thanks heaps!!! it turns out it the seal wasn't clean soon as we cleaned it all works perfectly .. you're a legend 😊
I hadn’t thought of the seal (i’ve tried everything else!) - I hope it works!!! Thanks so much 😁
Cleaning the filter fixed it for me. Thank you very much! ❤
Thankyou young man. My dyson is working now, thanks to you. Washed the filter which hadn't been washed for 6 year. So so pleased. You deserve a medal.xxx
OMG, filters are cheap, what were you thinking?
@@johngreydanus2033You don’t know what you don’t know. We are all learning - even if different things! 😊
My Dyson cordless vacuum was pulsating. I had never taken it apart before. All I had done was empty the canister. I didn’t even know the filters were removable! With your clear instructions I was able to clean it thoroughly and it has stopped pulsating! Thank you! You just saved me several hundred dollars that I would have spent on another Dyson! I love how light and maneuverable this little vacuum is! ❤️
Just saved me a lot of money over the tiniest bit of fluff caught in the wrong place! Thank you 🙌🏼
No problem, love getting feedback like this to know this video can be useful
This video was so helpful! Didn't know how to get to the top of the tub on my v10 cyclone animal and once I saw how to pull down the bin to expose the opening I saw a lot of lint buildup stuck in there. Thank you!
No problem glad this was helpful for you, thanks for the feedback
Wow, thanks! I just got the V10 and on the second day started pulsing. I played around with it for awhile and then started watching CZcams videos. I followed your instructions and found a small piece of tile along with some soft plastic completely blocking just above the vacuum head.
Cleared it all out and my vacuum is working again. Learned far more from this video that from the instruction papers that came with the machine.
Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful and you managed to sort it. Thanks for the great feedback
Thank goodness you had this video. I borrowed my sisters vacuum, which she absolutely loves, and it starting pulsing! I panicked because there’s no way I could afford to replace or repair it. You saved me so much grief. Thank you so much.
No problem, glad this was helpful for you.
Thanks for your video on how to solve the pulsing. My Dyson now works perfectly again!
I have the Dyson V 11 animal, and this vacuum has changed my life. I don’t hate vacuuming anymore, I love the cordless and how well it picks up every single thing. Then it stopped sucking although I could hear it was running it was a second. Now I have cleaned it and I will see what happens. There was nothing blocking it but there was a lot of dirt where the bin hooks to the rest of the vacuum. I don’t know what your people are talking about when you say you hate it. This is a fantastic vacuum.
Thank you!!! I really appreciate the thorough easy to understand instructions. I learned so much! I really appreciate the specific instructions for each model. For me I tried everything and nothing worked (but so happy to know all the ways to troubleshoot for future). Then I bought a new filter and it worked! Woo hoo 🎉. THANK YOU!!
Awesome. Thanks forvthe great feedback
Thanks so much. We have a V10 Animal and a V11 Animal (and three animals! 🙂). This was super helpful, and the detailed videos for each model were also great.
I have a v8 and watched several videos on how to service the unit. This video was by far the best and easiest to follow! Mine was pulsating and I did everything to correct it-turns out mine needed the very last item mentioned in the video. So grateful!!!
Great to hear this was useful for you, well done on solving the problem.
What would have helped me would be, providing a general overview up front, like a clear - visual, outline with words that make sense - that doesn't lead the learner into getting stuck in loops of misunderstanding, because I have a hearing impairment and can't think when I do not clearly comprehend what I am being shown.
Not everyone speaks the same learning language and mine is to have a visual roadway, with an understanding of the key, presented to me in the form of a brief where I can engage and seek clarifying questions. Otherwise, I can only learn by reading the broken captions and interpreting within my own frame of reference.
I am, however, grateful for the learning opportunity you provided. Thank you!
Great video! It helped me to maintain my V15. Thanks a lot.
Luxusní vysavač, velká spokojenostv 👍👍👍
Very nicely presented! Thorough, complete, and informative!
Excellent! Especially the end of the video regarding the bottom lid closure. Once I cleaned the bottom flap around the rubber seal it was working again. Thank you!!
Great to know this was useful for you, thanks for the feedback
Thank you! This was perfect. Had my V6 for a few years... Found a lot of build up in the spinning head part at the bottom. All fixed 😀
Thats great well done, thanks for the feedback.
Hello and THANK YOU for saving me a lot of trouble and time. Well done video and very helpful information.
It helped! Thankfully it’s a hot dry day and it’s now drying in a delicate bag on the line!
Wow! Excellent presentation on that regular Dyson issue!
It really solved the pulsing issue on my long slender cone after clearing the dirts on the sucking end! Thank you!
I have a Dyson DC44 Animal cordless since 2013. I use it for steps, bathrooms and quick pickups. I make sure I empty after every use. It works fine. I also had a purple upright. Can’t remember model, that was a tank. It picked up and never a problem. Wife dropped it down stairs. She rarely vacuums and dropped it. Jeez. Thought I’d get a Shark Apex. It is a great machine with loads of attachments, but it never cleaned like my Dyson. Now I got a v15. It is amazing. It’s picking up pet hair that my Shark never could, and only in two passes. I love it. Learn your Dyson. Keep it clean and filter clean. It will serve you well.
I was able to clear the clog in my v10 due to this video, thanks much.
Great simple and helpful! Thank you! Informative
You are brilliant! I went through numerous videos trying to figure out why my Dyson v8 was pulsing and stopping. Did everything that you and others suggested. Cleaned filters and put back on in 24 hours after dry. Pulled vacuum apart and cleaned every nook and cranny. Still no luck. So per your suggestion I ordered new replacement filters. Coming in 2 days.
But just at the end of your video you mentioned the problem could be the the seal of the cannister door flap. I cleaned the rubber gasket even more. Plus I realized that sometimes when I slap the door closed, it is not perfectly flat and sealed to the cannister. Just off the tiniest bit. So when I closed the door more carefully.... guess what? No more pulsing or stopping. That little detail that you mentioned solved my problem. Thank you so much!!!!!
Brilliant well done that's great to hear. Thanks for the great feedback
Thank you so much, mine started doing this a couple of days ago.Much appreciated😅
That’s a good thing to check. Noted!
Thank you so much for this video - I had given up on my V8 with a pulsing problem and was distraught when the same thing happened with my replacement V10 - but was able to get both of them working again by following this advice!
That's great to hear, thanks for the feedback.
Great, thanks! I'll keep an eye out for that symptom, and will be sure to dry the filters before reassembling.
Thanks so much! I was able to fix the blockage problem, reassemble, and now my Dyson works great!
Great to hear that the video was helpful for you. Thanks for the feedback
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
My Dyson had this problem so has been left plugged in, in the cupboard for I don’t know how long.
Whilst I’ve cleaned it on several occasions, I’ve just followed your instructions and found a lot more fine dust which I’ve now been able to remove.
It now works like a charm 😊
That's great to hear, well done in solving this and thanks for the great feedback
Will get straight onto it.
Thanks for a clear and constructive video 😊
Thank you so much we thought our old Dyson was ready for the bin but now it's like new ! It was pulsing and had lost its suck. So thanks again for saving us a lot of money, cheers 👍
No problem glad it was useful for you.
Howdy from Texas! Ours had a blockage at the joint of the floor head. Thank you for the video!
Oh Mercy! I had cleaned the bin and filter, checked the tubes for blockages nothing. You nailed it when you said to see if the passage in the motor part is clogged. A ton of debris completely blocking it. I am letting the filter dry and will recharge overnight. I hope I didn't blow the motor. Thanks for the very easy to follow instructions. I will click on a few ads for you.
Well done on sorting the vacuum. Thanks very much for the feedback
Thank you - you saved me from ditching a perfectly fine Dyson -just had a clog in the floor attachment
Really informative, thanks for this. Nice work :)
Great video! Very informative and fixed the problem with our Dyson V8 which was pulsing with lesser and lesser suction than normal. The problem was a bunched up Home Depot receipt and accumulated dust and hair in the intake pipe; something you addressed in the video. We were ready to buy a new unit, but now it works like a charm. Thank you very much.
That's great to hear, thanks for the kind feedback
Really helped me prove my point to my wife - thanks! I was able to search for, watch 3 minutes, and solve the issue, and fix everything within a total of about 5 minutes! For reference; there was a Pirate's Booty puff lodged with the little red flapper... But most importantly; I was able to give my wife crap for not making any efforts to fix her brand new $600+ vacuum. Fixed it in the time she was scrolling on TikTok while on the crapper. Thanks!
This is great to hear the video has helped you 👍 Go easy on your wife, i am sure she would have sorted it in the end 🤣
Omg thanks 🙏 I was going crazy and cleaned the filter twice but it was a section that had a whole heap of lint stuck and now it’s working again.
Great to hear you sorted your vacuum, thanks for the kind feedback 😀
Excellent. Well that's given me a few things to look at on my V10 but ultimately I either need to let the filter dry for a bit longer or buy a new one.
I have a V8. Best vacuum I have ever had. You briefly mention on the back filter. After disassembling, unsnapping the main components, I washed them in the sink. The part with the cone and steel fine perforated screen discharged mud, for many wash cycles. After letting everything dry, the cleaner worked marvelously, EXCEPT for when the back filter was on. As soon as I clipped it on, the surge came back. Taking it off the machine worked as new. The issue is, it blows directly in your face. Washing it did not help. It is sealed, and the outside plastic shields the filter. I took a screwdriver and split the glued join between the outside cap and body. The exposed filter element, under water then again spewed mud. Let it dry, don't worry about the outside shell, just put the filter on and the blast is directed sideways away from your face. The unserviceability of this filter is I suspect a cynical ploy to enslave us to Dyson spare parts. Who would have thunk it?
Hell from France.Thank you very much. I've repaired my Dyson after watching your vidéo. Thanks to you.
That's great to hear. Well done. Thanks for the feedback
I could not get my Dyson work work for several days. After seeing his video and following his instructions, it worked! My problem was that there was dirt at the bottom of canister (in the gasket). He was right on the $$. THANK YOU!!
That's great, i'm glad it worked for you Patricia.
Just purchased a v8 and after a short go, we had this issue. Thanks to this video, I was able to find the blockage and clear it. Cheers!
Glad the video was helpful for you. Thanks for the feedback.
Very helpful. My vacuum needed serious cleaning. Works like new now.
Thank you for posting a useful video, helped me solve the issue with my handheld!
That's great, well done. Thanks for the feedback
Thank you! I was about to buy a new battery and low and behold thanks to your video I don't have to. It was indeed clogged. Also learned how to take it all apart !
Great to hear you sorted it 👍
Very useful and I did buy the additional filter for my V15 as you suggested.
Thank you for this video! Helped me looked the Superman I am fixing everything.
This helped! Still balking somewhat, will try recleaning the bin seal, thanks so much!
Thanks so much for you time and help!!! I was about to sell mine and spend more money on another dyson. No need for anymore. Very helpful video!
That's great to hear
I’ve had the V11 for several years and I love it. I have never over filled the canister and have never had this air flow problem.
Thats great to hear, obviously you like to look after the vacuum properly 👍
Thanks for that. Thought I was gonna need a new filter. Sorted within minutes thanks to your clear briefing.
Great to hear this was useful for you, thanks for the feedback
Your videos are very helpful. Thank you
Massive thanks for the video. There was an accumulation of hard particles lodged in the flap which was preventing correct operation. Cleared these & unit works as normal.
Very helpful👏👏👏
Thats great to hear the video was useful for you. thanks for the feedback
OMG you made it so easy!!!!! thank goodness I found this video! Problem solved no more pulsing. (water bottle cap was stuck in my wand) but i learned how to take it all apart and cleaned my flap, it needed it.
Awesome, glad that this helped you out. Thanks for the feedback x
Thank you so much for all the info. I have brought 2 different batteries to solve the pulsing issue thinking it was my battery. Turns out it was just a clog where the flap is flipped over. Thank you for saving mire time & stress you are my hero
Thank you, I really like my Dyson. I’m happy to learn I can take the canister off to clean it. I have tried cleaning thru the end, while cover is open.
Thank you so much for this video! It was very helpful and informative on how to get my Dyson unclogged
For units with the long slender cone shaped filters, it is important to detach the fabric portion of the filter from the plastic support...as you mentioned...and remove any dirt that has accumulated at the bottom of the filter cage. It can't be removed by simply running the filter under water. Glad you mentioned that the filter should be detached to accomplish this. Whenever my V6 starts to pulsate, this is the reason.
Exactly! Many DIY vids on this issue don’t instruct to do this step!
Hi
I found I also needed to use warm soapy water, rinsing under the tap didn't lift the fine dust (I'm guessing it needed the surfactant properties to help release the particles).
Good to know. I’ll try this
Good tip, I have a friend that thinks than he needs a new battery, as he already washed the filter with no fix .
I find his voice and presentation very calming
This is a great video. I followed your instructions and was able to fix my issue with pulsing on my V7 model. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the feedback, great to know it was helpful for you.
Excellent video, very helpful. I think Dyson is an excellent product - we have two, one cordless and the other has a cord, both very powerful. I maintain them and they don't let us down. Thank you.
Thank you so much. Watching your video solved my problem and saved me ordering a new battery.
No problem, glad the video was useful for you.
Great tip about buying a second filter. Thx.
legend, great video, all clean now waiting for it to dry and get wife back to work !
Great video, I look forward to use the knowledge from this video to solve the problem of my Dyson.
This was FANTASTIC! I had *thought* that I emptied it all, I had no idea that I was able to take the cannister off! Game changer. I didn't know about the flap - mine (in my V7) was stuck down with a mat of dirt. Once I managed to unstick it with my finger, some dishsoap, and a lot of time, it flapped back and it works again! Thank you!!!
No problem, glad this was helpful for you. Thanks for the great feedback 😀
Thanks! The fix was so easy when I found a blockage in the long pipe!
very good trouble shoots points to consider. I appreciate all your suggestions.
Thank you- that has helped a lot. Have ordered a spare filter. Wish I had never bought the beastly V10 in the first place though. Had to get a Hetty ad well- soooo much better!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!
15 minutes before midnight here in Chicago and now I can finish vacuuming the dinning room with my v6 and go to bed. (Liked and Following) Have a great day.
Great to hear this was helpful for you. Thanks for the feedback
Thank you. I'm an hour from the fix center, so very much appreciated!
No problem, hope you get this sorted.
Thank you!!! My V8 Animal was doing that and i was going to spend 850$ on a V15 tomorrow morning. You're a superstar!!! ❤ I mentioned you in my Vlogmas video that will be up tomorrow!!!!!! 👍
No problem. Really glad this was useful for you. Thanks for the great feedback
Yay yay yay! A good thorough cleaning solved this problem (honestly I had NEVER cleaned my filters in over 4 years - YIKES!) Many thanks!!
That's great to hear it help you. Thanks for the kind feedback 😊
Thank you for your help. I loved the way you showed us how to take my Dyson v7 apart. Great demonstration video.
Glad the video was helpful for you, thanks for the feedback 😁
You are a natural. Thanks for tips.
I had vacuumed some wet dirt/dust and I had left a coating that partially blocked the intake-initially it appeared to be open for air flow-NOT!
Thank you for your videos.
We’re good to go -
Got an older V6 animal that has had v little usage. When it pulses your informed to ring Dyson. You do so with them asking about the lights on the battery when it pulses. They put you on hold while they say “I’ll go and check the troubleshooting manual”, they come back on the line after a few minutes and say it’s the battery. And yes, this is the 2nd time in exactly 4 years I’ve owned it. As the first time it was just in warranty so go that one replaced free of charge, this time though they want $120. Save yourself the money and watch this video, it solved my pulsing issue in under 5mins. I’m now going to go dig up the original battery and recheck that now as i never threw that one out. Now i know all the components of the vacuum and got to meet them, I’m more than confident in troubleshooting it next time the pulsing issue returns. Thank you good sir for your video and service to your fellow CZcams community. ❤
No problem glad you found it useful. Thanks for this great feedback. 👍
Awesome video. Much better than their customer service. My son gave me one for Christmas. It was refurbished and had no serial Number.
You were awesome!!!
I could listen to you all day!!!
👏👏👏👏👏
Glad to know this was helpful for you. Thanks for the great feedback 😊
Thank you for all of your advise. I had tried everything including buying a new battery and filters and it turned out the floor suction area was clogged and I had not seen it. I appreciate this tutorial
Glad it was helpful for you, thanks for the feedback
Thanks so much. We were so annoyed with this problem. You solved it.
Thanks for the feedback, i'm glad you solved the issue.
