  • In this excerpt from NO-TURN CAST, Monte demonstrates how pros move the wrists move in the downswing, a move that almost no amateurs make because it isn't obviously visible at full speed. Monty is giving away the secret sauce with this rarely shared tip.
I’ve come across a lot of swing tips where I thought I’ve unlocked the “secret” only to still struggle. This no turn cast fixed my early extension, over the top and chicken wing. Also got more clubhead speed. I sound like an infomercial! 😄
Hardest part of this concept is just believing it works.
    Great tip Monty!

Yup, just tried it. Definately a key building block. Not fighting the weight of club anymore. Windup to top backswing feels better once you got the feeling of throwing back at 8pm "grooved" Appears to underpin everything for me. (Already use foot pressure & straigthing & lowering the trail arm from the top) Thanks for sharing. (Beginner)

The best golf swing tip ever, without doubt.
For me it has helped with giving me the confidence to make the clubface changes my coach wants to see.
I have been trying to get rid of a shut face at the top which we’ve been trying to get to square, but for a steep shaft DS person like me, that’s super scary.
Knowing I can release from the top like this has helped so much and the swings on video are really good.
    Thank you Monte!

This works. For someone like me who naturally casts to 5:00 (you can guess the result), it feels a bit awkward, but even just "trying" to start in that 8:00 ballpark makes all the difference. I'm eager to put in about a thousand reps with this move so it becomes my natural move and not something I have to think my way into. I video'd after getting this move down and my positions were so much better. former slicer went to straight or light draw and one club longer in distance.

I was with "bring the lag, pull it through" lessons. My driver became 290 to 255. This was why. huh. 6 months to become 320 was making me move backwards.

Monty, When i'm on the top of my backswing, my feel is that my trail thumb points down to get the shaft to 8'oclock since i'm right hand dominate. Will that be a correct feel to get my club in the right position? BTW Great stuff!!!!

Holy shit, i accidentally figured this out a few weeks ago and was working brilliantly, for some reason, i went right back to my bad habits. With this swing mechanism i hit a bullet drive 300yards dead straight almost onto the green and then next shot i went back to flip releasing, scuffed my chip shot and 3 putted for a double bogey 😅

In what your showing the body has to rotate extremely fast to allow the club to catch up with the hands at impact, us old players don’t have that anymore. So another way to accomplish this is to maintain the lead arm angle with the club shaft to about 8 o’clock then simply turn the lead pinky down which allows the forarms to rotate which allows the club head to catch up with the hands at impact. In this example I just gave don’t ulnar deviate the lead wrist as you show in your example. Question one must ask themselves which way is easier and can be repeated most often. Thanks for the example but we have choices if we know what to look for.

"the club to catch up with the hands at impact.'
      What does this mean?
The club is attached to the hands.
There is no "lag" being forced.
By casting toward 8:00, everything is in the proper place.

@@Randsurfer I’m not arguing with what you said surfer, in fact said it was another option that would help others . It’s an option because there is no ONE answer that fits all feet. I gave another as to my experience and understanding of the motion. Mike Dunaway was one of the best at doing what you’re saying and it worked for him as I’m sure it works for others. So again good vid and thanks for giving people the option.

I am 67 years old, this move works very well for me and I have no problems at all squaring the clubface at impact. My body turn matches nicely with the arm movement. I am somewhat disadvantaged because I am not tall, but manage 95mph+ clubhead speed with driver

  • @PeterInness

Is that not considered a cast ?? And how does that relate to the overall downswing movement to make sure it is not a cast?

    • @jonandersen7208
      @jonandersen7208 Před 5 měsíci +1

It's not a cast in a negative sense if it's timed properly and on the right swing path. "Casting" is just the un hinging of the hands, which all good golfers do in their swing. Most amateurs either cast it too early in the downswing, before the momentum shifts and/or cast it over the top at 6 or even 5 o'clock. Timed correctly and on the right path, Monte's casting described above will accelerate the hands through the downswing, transferring the lag built up in the backswing to the club face at impact. Casting too early dumps all of that lag and hand speed at the start of the downswing instead of the end. I hope this helps.
