The right wing is cruel??? When was the last time HE got a concrete milkshake thrown at him from conservatives who disagrees with him? Or had his business burned to the ground in a riot started by HIS side? Or stood by and made excuses for paroled felons who assault, rape, or murder innocent citizens while stripping them of the ability to defend themselves? Damn your feelings about the other side's beliefs. You can say a lot of things about the right, especially on the extremes, but they are not the one right now who are so morally unhinged that they will say, or do anything to achieve their social agenda.

I think Texas and CA makes sense. Both states function basically outside of the Union as is. Though they are literally opposite in beliefs, I could imagine an alliance to secede and become independent countries.

This film is a perfect representation of postmodernism. It's impossible for anyone in Hollywood today to write a movie about a civil war or any war. Modern Hollywood writers and producers are historically and reality illiterate. None of them has studied wars, especially civil wars, and how they get started or why they are fought. NONE OF THEM has ever been in war, served in the military (and i'll go one step farther, I doubt they even know anyone who has). A film about war from people who have only seen other films about war and talked about war on social media. It's a surface level understanding of war, journalism, and civil strife from people who have no experience or interest in really exploring ANY of those concepts.

Especially states who were divided before invasion by some outside forces. Ala. Russian Ukrainian war of our real world. It created a more divided nation.

And this new lady journalist, a gal who witnessed the corporate war between militech anf arasaka and later witnesses the new war. The South American federation. Invading their country. Called Vespuccia. A former Spanish nation turned Mexican imperial colony turned independent nation. Made up of mestizo Spanglish speakers.

As soon as it was apparent their governments were acting in insurrection they'd be taken over..by the many federal bases that answer to the Pentagon. 15 bases in Texas, and 32 in California all filled with people who are largely not even native to those states. That isn't accidental.
I assume those 2 states were chosen because of their economies.
It's unrealistic that they would win the war also, as they are both on coasts putting them well within in reach of US naval vessels.
A US civil war today would be an absolute mess, but like the first one the fed would not allow any states to simply "leave". And back then, the soldiers in those bases were disconnected from Washington.

If you watched the film, you'd see they're portrayed as highly ambitious, quite egotistical and completely detached.
If this was real life the journalists would be hiding in their house and the interview would be done over zoom

Sucks that these in-movie journalists have more balls to drive across a war zone than most real life journalists could. It’s why I never bought this version. It’s why I created an alternate history story where even today’s journalists are more risky to get stories than our soy milk chugging types would ever be.

After easily accessible cameras, there's no reason to have a press honestly. The people are the press and you see this when the 'press' just reposts content from social media accounts. They are glorified content curators now that put a spin on a story. Now I do think they can be helpful for interacting and watching governments, but the only thing that is different is a journalist college degree, a press badge, and a job at a mainstream company.
The only thing I took from this movie was there are no good guys and war is hell.

Kind of ironic that the same week the movie celebrating “objective journalists” comes out a longtime left leaning NPR reporter came out and said that NPR as a whole basically gave up it’s journalistic integrity starting in 2016 because they all wanted to get Trump.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The MSM has lost all credibility and they did it themselves when they stopped reporting on the news and instead went to 1 hour (or more) News OPINION shows with pundits pretending to be News Presenters (Anchors). They tried to tell Americans these shows and the people hosting them were "Truth" and as such, there is no debate to be had.
Is it any wonder people are turning them off and instead, looking at numerous Independent Sources for actual news??? But even some of the bigger Independent News Sources are becoming overly biased to certain issues/subjects. After a while, you won't be able to trust anyone for unbiased news unless the Govt. (FCC), steps in (scary) and regulates these news sources and demands they "label" their shows either "News Reporting" or "News Opinion".

Is it REALLY a dystopia if people are still able to get gasoline, an unending supply of bullets, clothes, and equipment, but oddly enough no one has a single frag grenade and only one guy in the entire film gas a flash-bang and he wastes it?

Having California and Texas working together has to have been done simply to make sure the film attracts people from all sides of the political spectrum. Not because it could ever happen.
No it's because people in Europe think California is extremely counter culture and the director is European so he believes Texas and Cali would naturally join up. This is the problem when you set out to make a political movie but don't know anything about the politics of the subject lol!

Enjoyed the video. I very much appreciate your videos, meaning not just live streams. I know live streams are probably the most lucrative and that YT anymore tends to demonitize any videos that our corner of the internet puts out anymore. But, I for one became a subscriber primarily due to your videos. Just saying, I'd very much appreciate if you would continue making videos like this.

Journalists would only travel that far if they got 1st class airfares and 5 star hotels. Then email their stories, cobbled together from press releases and fartbook pics, getting buzzed on their 6th cocktail.
In WW2 germany, the press and courts were always in favor of the party. Anyone who disagreed was imprisoned. Politicians and people the party disliked had many false charges thrown at them and vilified by the party controlled press. Sounds a bit familiar doesnt it?
And I should add this was all done so the people that voted for the party could then say "look at all those charges against this guy we dislike, see what a bad person he is!"
