Although I do agree with the fact that the other Marvel movies flipped, Shang Chi did relatively well for a sorta unknown hero, grossing over 400 million even tho the budget was 150 million
Plus I didn't hear much critique of the movie
The movie didn't suck but it didn't blow me away either.
I paid to watch it in cinema. I felt I would've lost nothing watching it at home on my laptop.
Shang-Chi was decent. I expected a train wreck and was pleasantly surprised. Not going to knock your socks off by any means but it mostly hits the beats it needs to. Thumbs up.
Shang-Chi was an appetizer.
The kinda of movie you put out to keep your audience positively engaged....before dropping big hit movie.

@@bryanokai6967 agree but the problem was there was no big hit following it. It was the appetizer to drought and prison food. I personally liked the movie and watched it when it released in the cinema and I never went to see another marvel movie until guardians. There was legit nothing good released between them that was worth seeing so shang-chi gets perceived in a worse manner because of this. It is a movie that kind of relied upon what was sandwiching it.
Movie expectations and experience is different in theatre and tv. In a theatre, one pays for ticket and expects a movie worth it and if movie is slow or boring, he is stuck with it. In TV, one pays for entire package and not just for one movie and can forward the boring part and enjoy the good part. Also, the theatre is a immersive experience and the effect stays in the mind for hours and even days. A TV show effect rarely lasts beyond few hours.
So a movie which is a box office failure can end up being a good time pass show on TV. A good TV response doesn't make it a theatre worth movie.
They have *BEEN* admitting failure for years now.... and yet they *KEEP* doubling down.

What is even worst is Marvel Studios had everything it needed to continue being successful after Phase 3. It has hundreds upon hundreds of characters and decades worth of good stories to call upon. We could have gotten a Silver Surfer and Galactus film, a Heroes for Hire film, Ghost Rider, X-Men, Fantastic Four, A Defenders team up movie after a Namor film, a Daredevil continuation, A Doctor Doom film of him conquering Latveria and becoming it's Monarch and setting him up as the next Big Bad. And then we have all the X-Men characters who could carry solo films like a Gambit and Rogue movie, a Night Crawler origin story, a Bishop Movie and even a Brotherhood movie.
The MCU could have been even more amazing than before, but instead they insisted on hiring morons who had no interest in the comics and had never picked up a comic in their life.
I had purchased and streamed The Eternals but less than a few minutes in I realized I wished I could get my money back. I never went back to see anymore of it and even tried to delete it out of my library it was so bad. I finally got it removed. It has to be horrible if I don't even want to keep a movie in my library of movies.
No point in watching any new large studio film that comes out nowadays

I want these movies to feel like a story and an experience again- so I can rewatch them and see new things. All the new marvel movies has done was create a teaser for the next movie . No actual character development , no good story with good dialogue . They are weak right now
i think disney needs to start leveraging Marvels's roots and pump more money into their comic book and animated TV production. It is a cheaper way to flesh out these characters and storylines. It respects and honors the original owners creative wishes, and it gives them some time to lick their wounds and remember how to tell a good story and flesh out intriguing characters

2008 - 2021: We had a great run of great movies. I'm really happy I got experience all of that first hand in the theater. The longer I wait for new stuff though the more I realize that those 14 years are probably the best the world will ever see of Marvel in the theaters. 26 good movies is an impressive feat though ( I, personally, liked Black Widow and Shang Chi). It's sad that they couldn't do more, but, I'm really grateful for what we got.
Too bad about the Fantastic Four though. I was really hoping they'd do a god job on that one.

Here's a fun little rumor for you to share. Elon Musk was recent seen in conversations with the previous CEO of Disney and said they were "talking about companies they wanted to buy". After seeing the conniptions caused by him buying Twitter... I cannot imagine the outrage if he were to buy Disney too. Regardless of what you think of the man you have to admit it will be fun watching the fireworks from a safe distance while waiting to see if anything of quality comes out in the aftermath

Okay, here's something you can do when you spot people trying to hype up things like the Marvels by saying it was great without giving specifics: Ask for reasons and details. Just ask them what they liked about the movie/shows and ask them to be specific.
I have a few comments so I'm going to bulletpoint
•be careful leaving that bass in plain sight. Davie504 or Charles Berthoud might challenge you to a battle.
•The only people who like these activist oriented films are Twitter activists. You will lose money every time catering to them. Disney, just stop.
•Brie Larson looks more attractive in the marvels from what I've seen in snippets. I cant put my finger on it.
•I'm cautiously optimistic about Deadpool and wolverine. I want him to be marvel Jesus.
I didn't take to social media to vent my spleen, rant about the decline to my friends, or wave signs by the highway. They stopped telling worthwhile stories (or honestly any kind of stories at all) and then proceeded to attack and belittle me for not being a cheerleader, so I quietly spent my money elsewhere. And I won't forget it.
I grew up thinking I’d be a life long Star Wars fan, I couldn’t make it 10 minutes into Solo before turning it off .

The problem with Disney, is they're treating the Marvel universe as a brand and not an opportunity to finally put all the quality stories we grew up from comic book to film! The sad thing is the stories are already there, the fan base is already there, so why doesn't someone give the bosses a shake, give them a pile of Marvel comics and say now go make some films! That is what the millions and millions of diehard fans are waiting for! They need to get out of the way and let the comics do the work!

It’s not that I don’t like female characters, game of thrones had 20 interesting female characters that outlived most of the male characters in the first four seasons. The problem is that they keep on spamming the same resting cow face, wooden puppet that is paid to spit out dialogue who are absolutely condescending towards men who are helping them out who are absolutely insufferable. “It’s the same thing. Am I the only one who notices this? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!”
GOT had a similar problem in later seasons - especially after season 6.The "Mary Sue" type of protection of the main female characters and their "girl boss" behavior - especially of Sansa and Arya - made no sense in the way it was presented. They had an unrealistic protection that didn't make sense with the way that GRRM had written his books and his characters.

It’s one thing to be a strong woman in a movie. I liked Atomic Blonde and Tomb Raider. But they weren’t replacing men they were their own characters. Action movies are pretty much male oriented vehicles. If you cancel and denigrate and basically turn males into step and fechit buffoons where’s the money going to come from. Not from trying to make females watch action movies.

Marvel has always been criticized for not knowing how to write great female superheroes for the screen, guess nothing’s changed.
Tried to stomach The Marvels on Disney Plus. Absolute Dumpster Fire. I think a 4 year old wrote it. End of story.

It started as a comic and even got a animation eventually. It's CONSIDERABLY better than the M-SHE-U. It has some KILLER lines, VERY memorable characters. (Flute cop is awesome.)
