    Knowledge share. For the outside wheel weights, get a longer bolt, cut the head off to make a stud, turn wheel locate with the stud at the top position, hang weight, start bottom bolt, roll wheel 180 degrees, remove stud, put in second bolt, tighten and you are good to go and will still have most of your fingers.

      or just get studs and nuts for the weights, hex head studs that the nut will firt over would work fine

    Boy buddy your life gonna be a whole lot easier with that John Deere than that old ford you used to use in winter..i love mine and couldn’t live without it .. the 3 and 400 series JD were like the sub compacts of the 80’s and just as capable as like the 1023 and 1025 of today ,, it just may take a little bit longer to do the task ,,bit they can do anything they can.. beautiful 400 buddy..

    Great video. Probably the best small tractor with snow equipment video I've seen. (and I've seen a few). Good narration, editing, music, and photography. I Only have a 214, W/ 38" blower, and no hydraulics. Your set-up is a residential killer. "So much" ballast. Perfect.

We've got a snow storm coming in just a few hours tonight that's supposed to drop 3-6 inches. It was 6-10 inches, but they lowered it. I hope to find a snow plow for my John Deere 316 (onan) soon.

    Yeah, I have a couple of 214s and a 318. I have some Wheel Horses as well. Those old Deere s really are the best in the user friendly category. Front plow blade, snowblower and even the tiller are so well thought out for ease of use/install there's nothing close to them. Traction however definitely goes to my Wheel Horses. I've got my Deere s stuck a few times and had to pull them out with the horses I've got to remember their limitations more.

    • @Isavetractors

      I could build a little bucket for the front it has 2000 psi hoses and the pressure relief I believe is only 900 psi so there should be no hoses being blown at any weight. I've put 500 pounds on the 3 point hitch and it lifts it easily.

    How well that single stage blower work in heavy wet snow ?

    • @Isavetractors
      @Isavetractors  Před 5 lety +1

      Not well. Will bring out the plow for the heavy wet stuff

    • @rydplrs71
      @rydplrs71 Před 5 lety

      Oops Oops That is a single stage.

    • @rydplrs71
      @rydplrs71 Před 5 lety

      Oops Oops there is only one auger that both centers and throws the snow. A two stage has a slow front auger that centers the snow, then behind that is a second impeller that actually throws the snow.
      A model 47 is the two stage for a JD 400. You can google that to see. A model 50 is what Norman has, it is single stage.

      @@Isavetractors If you install the rubber flap mod to the very center auger paddles it will do much better in the heavy wet stuff!!! It will also throw the snow further. I have a JD 314 with 49 snowblower, I have this mod and it works great!!

    o you now where I can get a electric lift for a john deere 214

    • @Isavetractors
      @Isavetractors  Před 3 lety

      You can try to find a used one on eBay, but honestly yours may just need a simple repair. You can also replace with a modern electric actuator however it may require fitting.

    What's the difference from a 316 and a 400?

    • @Isavetractors
      @Isavetractors  Před 3 lety

      The width of the machine, the steering, and the engine

    Why not set the tractor up in September when its warm and then you would be ready to go when it gets cold.

  • @stevelecain886
    @stevelecain886 Před 5 lety

    i think your chains are inside out, your open end loops for your cross chains shouldn't be rubbing on your tires.

    Looks like you put the chains on upside down, better check them.
