#Sweetwater - Hudba
I thought i'd love the dark ones, but the Brilliants, WOW. for the money, very refined and musical sound.
i prefer my brilliant trash cymbals compared to my dark particularly the china
i see nick, i click
Wise words, my friend
i see click
i nick
😬
I just bought the Brilliant's. I think they all sound incredible but the 16" crash is the best I've ever heard. I've been a casual (cellar dweller) drummer for almost 50 years and have played most of the brands out there. None have ever come close to this. It is crystal clear and cutting.
I kinda like the sound of the dark series more
Came for the cymbals, stayed for the playing. Love the playing! :D
all I've used for years are high end sabians (aax-plosions, hhx evolutions), but recently I cracked my main crash and decided to try something different, so I grabbed the 18'' and 19'' dark crashes, and they are the best crashes I've ever used by a mile. the wash, the feel, the way they open up when you play them... an absolute dream to play and are PHENOMINAL recorded. cannot suggest enough.
ye same boat
Great sounding cymbals. If I were to pick a mix-n-match set from these cymbals using my ears , it would be as follows: 14" Dark Hats , 16" & 18 " Custom Crash , 20" Dark Ride . Then I'd add an 18" Classic Custom Trash China , and a 10" Dark Splash. That would be a wonderful set of cymbals.
This was a great side by side comparison! Please do more of these! 👍🏼
🙂👊
@@sweetwater I'm comment jacking sorry but I just want to thank you guys. Without Sweetwater and the Sweetwater card I would have never had a way to get all the stuff I do now. I've wanted a drum set since I was a kid and now I got one hell of a drum set on the way. I have a new guitar and a new bass. You guys basically provided me my own band and I never could have got this stuff without you guys. You rock!
This is a great comparison video. I'm finding I like the dark ones better except for the ride.
I feel like the dark is more for worship
Love the trashier sound of the 18 in Dark!
I think the dark series sound fantastic ! And I’ve always been a die-hard Paiste guy.
Thank you! I was just looking into the Classics Custom series and these two lines caught my attention. I would mix them up: Dark Customs Hats, 16" Dark Custom Crash, 18" Bright Custom Crash and Bright Custom Ride.
Haha I was thinking the same thing !!!!!
I was thinking classic custom bright hats, bright ride, 2 bright crashes, 2 dark crash
Love this guy !! Great video !!! Such a good comparison. Thanks !!!
I really like the sound of those brilliants.
Thank You Nick Awesome Demo Brother
I bought the 8" Brilliant and Dark splashes 😍😍😍 lovely sounds
Great playing Nick! tops chops
I'm so glad I listened to my gut and ordered the Brilliant pack, lots of cymbals for $999
im looking into buying the pack, how are they doing, and was it worth it?
That would be a hard choice. Side by Side was cool.
Sounds beautiful
Great comparison!! Loved it. The Brilliants sound best to me overall. But both are very pleasing. I'd take either set.
For any kind of rock: dark. and the Classic for any kind of music. Just like that.
I have the 16'' Dark Classics Custom Crash, and it sound a lot better in person than in this video... Here it really sounds like a splash for some reason.
The Dark crashes sound higher in pitch than the normal one’s. I considered buying either of them but settled for Zildjian S. Problem with those is that they have to much sustain for my liking and you really have to play into them to get their bright sound. These are cutting and them gone. I like it. Might buy them when a I get my new set.
I use an 18" Classics Custom Medium Crash and the 18" Classics Custom Dark Crash.. same size but so much character in the both of them, I do prefer the Dark series, I also have the 14" hats and I freaking love them!
Winners:
Hats: Brilliants
16" crash: Brilliants
18" crash: Darks
20" ride: Brilliants
I wish some of these cymbal companies would let us mix and match our own cymbal sets from similar lineups. Mix Byzance with Byzance, Pure Alloy with PA Customs, and different Customs with different Customs. I would absolutely go for a set with the above mix of Brilliant and Dark.
are you deaf?
Exactly, thats why your better off getting some second hand, if your trying the new Zildjian dark, because they also only had a box set at launch. Reverb!
Torn until he got to the 18" crash. Dark won, hands down.
I have Dark and Brilliant 8" splashes. The dark is a bit pangy on it's own, but mixed with other things it does sound great.
So far I have CC 8" splash, 12" Trash Splash, CCD 8" Splash, HCS Bronze 16" & 14" Crash
I love both equally
I definitely prefer the regular version. Would be great for complex grooving, but the rides could have better definition on the bells
Man, Nick is the definition of çool. I wonder if my sales engineer knows him?
I play in a small area, so these would have been the good rock/big band/country with even the dark series. Zildjian now makes a dark set too, ,thankfully we have these good videos! I went with Zildjian S and I family, but these Meinl custom line always sounded really awesome. They are still loud, because Megadeth's drummer now uses some dark customs.
I feel like getting both sets. If I can get the dark cymbals with the regular hats that would be great.
Cant wait to record new tracks with my MEINL collection including Classics Customs Dark and Brilliant and now with the Byzance Extra Dry dual crash
Have basically the entire dark set besides my polyphonic ride and a thick Zildjian crash, cymbals are stupid nice. Really good for the price, and work super well for my style of music. I'm on more of the deathcore side of shit especially recently, and I can't recommend these enough for any metal.
I just spoke to this guy today!
This guy freaking jams
Dark all the way!!
would be cool if u can mix cymbals in this box set
What song was that in the beginning?
Nick is a beast... check him out in old Spock's Beard and new Big Big Train.
What about the 14" brilliant crash?
DAAAYUM!
Am I able to get the brilliant ride separately from the set or do I have to get the entire package?
Hello, Ace! We do sell the Classics Custom Rides separately on our website. Nick is playing the 20" in this video: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/CC20MR-B--meinl-cymbals-classics-custom-medium-ride-cymbal-20-inch
Thanks for the interest!

4pk and 3pk Meinl classic customs starting at $329 is a deal!
Please rewiew the Paiste 900 series!
They never made a 13" dark hi hat... Can you stack up two 12" splashes?!...how do they sound?!
Can we get this music track?
I like the darks better. Would they be fitting for non-rock/pop like funk, reggae or even rootsy Americana-like stuff?
Great playing! I just don't see how you can play like that lol, it's like your fulcrum point is non existent. It looks as if your sticks may go flying out of your hands at any second. I usually have about 3/4 of an inch of my sticks coming from the bottom of my hands. Everyone's different but once again great chops ya got there bro!
Fulcrum is there it's just not primarily in the index finger. Loose hands also tend to = good fat sounds
The darker series sounds thin and cheaper this is just my opinion. The regular brighter classics sound more like the a custom series from zildjian. I would think that the standard classics custom would be much more versatile and for the money very worth it
🥁🔱🤘
A little YYZ on the ride : )
In terms of quality, sound and price, what would be similar from Sabian? XSR? AA?
Unless you want to pay 1000 or over for a set of cymbals
These are some of the best sounding you can get
Can we get a long haired dweeb to demo the Extreme metal box set?
This is a joke btw, but seriously can we get a demo for the extreme metal set?
Do they wobble?!
Anyone knows how to clean the Classics Custom Dark?
I use the Meinl cymbal cleaner, gets them looking back to original and doesn't mess with the finish or logos (if that matters to you) but there's probably other cleaners out there that are similar, just not sure if the same. The also have a protectant and a polish. The protectant keeps them cleaner longer, at least in my experience.
These or zildjian A customs?
Hi, Alexander! Our Sales team will be glad to look into the best option for you. When you have a moment, please give us a call at (800) 222-4700 or email us at sales@sweetwater.com. Thanks for the message!
Zildjian A
I'd go with the A customs. These cymbals are at more of the price point of the zildjian S series (I prefer the classics customs to those). The A customs are more at the price point of meinl pure alloy series, which are great cymbals.
Lower levels could these be used for jazz....
These are very loud cymbals that open up fairly quick. I'd look at some b20 cymbals for jazz instead
I just don't trust sheet cymbals anymore. Tho I do like the look.
B10 .... but by Meinl ... they are good, made in Germany
The Byzance(B20)line is awesome
I was the tipical Zildjan guy but now i'm not sure...
Kristers D and these are their mid tier cymbals
WANT
Shame you couldn't mix and match.
The regular ones are better than the dark ones. The colouring doesn’t look that great and it dampens the sound.
The snare drum sounds like a old wash tub.
Dennis Rivenburg that’s pure Tasmania wood right there
Look and sound like cheap stage props. Dark ride bell dosent even cut through the kick and snare. Definitely entry level.
These are definitely not entry level
PaPa-D I have HCS that came on my kit. They are the worst sounding cymbals I have ever heard.
Every cymbal in this line sounds like a splash.
Are you listening through a potato?
Are u crazy??? Lol
Except for the one to his furthest right (our left), they are all super high pitch with short yet ringy sustain compared to other cymbals of similar sizes.
In other words they are discount cymbals that sound like discount cymbals.
These sounds terrible. If you guys want good budget cymbals look at Stagg. The VB line sounds amazing. The 16 DH china is money.
SiREN2173 Not everyone has a dealer near them that stocks Stagg.
These are entry level/intermediate Meinls so it's not really fair to conclude their sound through these sets.
@@ryankyungsoocho4291 please reread my comment I'm talking about budget cymbals, which these meinl cymbals are (overpriced budget cymbals) I now they make good cymbals but these aren't them lol
@@AtTheSourceStudios Wuhans are also good
@@AtTheSourceStudios they're like zildjian s series, the same alloy, but stamped
