- This is a tutorial that encompasses military mechanics for millennium dawn hoi4 for by blood alone. It will cover millennium dawn army related mechanics The 1.7 update will feature a reworked military and navy system which requires a proper explanation. This update will release on September 24th, 2022. If you have any questions let me know in the comments and I will try to answer them.

hey @Hammurabae, I have a question in regards to playing 1.8 millenium dawn. are there any "enhancer" mods you use to play millenium dawn such as specific ai improvement mods ?

It was not until by the time the dev finished by blood alone air tech, another new dlc massively chance anything released
They were aware of it so it wasn't a surprise, they just launched the update when they felt it was the right time. Plus any release then update/bug fixe would break the mod too!
Paradox should work together with the biggest mods so they can prepare a patch for the mod for when the content releases

Tbh making a research system for modern day strategy would be extremely different and much more complex then anything that's been done ever in this genre, and how millenium dawn managed to make it work with the regular hoi4 while keeping country capabilities realistic is extremely impressive
I think one thing they could change is by increasing the ground attack stats of MR and strike fighters

I know this is an old video but could you possibly make a video covering how SAM sites work vs air force. Lets say you are a small country with a non existent air force. how decent are SAM sites at countering enemy air superiority. Thanks, love your guides BTW.
I would imagine they are just like anti air in the base game. I find putting a couple of anti air in base game substantially help air battle, but I've never tested it without have any airforce at all but could imagine they still shoot down a couple planes especially when they are in active combat supporting a battle

@hammurabae you say that the AI is not coded to ever to use nukes, does this include the setting before matches to allow AI first strike options? I have that setting on and was hoping it worked lol

Until then, I have a specific aircraft question I hope you can answer. You talk about Air Superiority vs CAS vs MR, and that all makes sense. But where do strike fighters and light jets fit into all that?
MD naval tutorial is already out, the air one is on my to do list though no current ETA.
Strike fighers and light jets are flavor and not better at anything currently.
Can you give any advice for playing smaller nations? Like what to prioritize, or how to build up your economy when it's basically nothing, like for example almost any country in Africa.
High gdp and gdp/c through office complexes for research slot , then prioritize pp too. Build influence in countries and diplomatically puppet your neighbors

Nice tutorial, though I can't really find anything solving my issue, maybe you could help. When I'm trying to fire an ICBM I have multiple silos ready but it says I need to have launchers... Do you know how I build those? ^^
You have to build them manually, it shops up under batteries

I have a question about the game. Let’s say I have a level 1 tank and all my tank units are using the level 1 tank. Then I research tank level 2 and start producing them. Would my tank units start replacing the level 1 tank with the level 2 tank as I produce them or do I have to start making new units?
Basically, yeah.
For example. Let's say you have a unit with one million tanks in it (meme number just for example and for lols)
Those one million tanks are level one tanks.
But you research level two tanks and immediately put them into production.
Your production now has to create one million level two tanks to replace the old tanks.
Eventually the old tanks will be replaced once production eventually catches up.
As long as you have the correct tank in storage (for example just a normal tank) the game will automatically keep resupplying your units with a tank. The game will prioritize the "best" tank you have in storage to give to your tank units.
This works exactly the same for everything else. Guns. Planes. Artillery. E.c.t.
(Navy is a little bit different though)

Honesty? Not really, but they are a powerful tool

They removed them in the battalion, they’re only in support now
The missile & missile defense & nuclear system all seem like a disorganized mess with tedious steps of clicking, overcomplicated compared to the rest of the system the mod has. I would have much preferred a simple 'drop nuke' & 'drop missiles' button with its impact automatically calculated by the techs you have and the missile defense tech the opponent has. Seems like the common case of a mod overdoing things to the point of being unnecessarily tedious. Bombarding an air region should take a few clicks while this seems like a clickfest micromanagement nightmarish feature for me.
Thank you for the tutorial, and the rest of the mod seems very well thought out from my limited experience.

If you mean the one that lets you invest them into other countries that would require you to have military industrial faction in your gov which can be changed for a lot of PP unless youre a superpower

So any time I try and add a missile to fire, it never actually ques up...I have first strike policies, ICBM selected with the correct warhead, everything seems to be a go but i never see the screen with the launch details pop up, whether im testing in my own country (playing as North Korea) or launching at a country im invading. Am i doing something wrong?
They always fire on the first day of the week. Are you waiting long enough? Also are you hitting the right button to lock in an order? One puts it on standby which is useless and one is to actively fire

I think you buy them in the energy tab. You should also be able to buy material in the decision tab.

i think about something crazy, when you are a small nation and defeated an expedetion force from a major nation or both sides had heavy casutalies ....why no peace talk or negotioation comes up for peace or another solution...is there any mode like that coming up?
Not as far as im aware. Putting that into a format the AI could use would be a nightmare

@@timokimo61 modern wars are generally total wars, mostly because majority of invasions since ww2 are done by nato which are far too powerful to bother talking to dead men.
I do not have an APC and an IFV in research... All DLS are included.

Please stop making save game breaking updates all the time! 2nd time now in 2 months that I can stop middle game, it is totally screwed up with areas, finances, stock supplies... Steam auto updates the mods and I can't turn that off. Is there a way to revert to the previous version?
Play with steam offline mode. Check a tutorial in youtube.

Should I start with vanilla HOI4 or use some dlc's for this mod?
Vanilla hoi4 for a little bit to learn the game will make it easier for you. All the DLC's make the game better but theyre expensive, you can get the subscription I think for a monthly cost to get them all.

La Resistance adds spy agency stuff which is a lot of fun especially in MD but not needed

All those research options and how many research slots do you get, six or seven? The annoying thing with hoi4 is you can conquer the entire world, but still only have 4 or 5 research slots. Hoi3 did a much better job with research.
You get more based on your gdp/c
In my opinion, The mod is amazing and extensive but goes way too much into detail and makes it that much more confusing than the already complicated by DLC base game is. Many research slots and micromanaging things should be honestly replaced with a button. Launching a satellite shouldnt require you to open 4-5 tabs with no tutorial to help you figure it out in the first place. It should just be a button you click: llose cost associated with making satalite boom its launched and if you wanna counter enemy ones its the same. But thats just an example of the dozens upon dozens of confusing things.

Go to the workshop for HOI4, search Millennium Dawn, subscribe, add it in playlist in the paradox launcher and you’re good to go.

Go for the guerilla warfare doctirne with those unit types and go for size in terms of width. At the end of the dya you will just get pushed by good divisions. Good anti air and atgm’s added on will go a longg way as well
Well, I don’t know, it was not bad for the limited economic development of authoritarian and other states, such as China, it was necessary to beat: corruption is high (after 15-20 thousand dollars, the economic boom is replaced by stagnation and blocks the rise - reforms are needed, from which support for democracy hangs). If only it wasn't such a slug and slow grind. barely any industry, too many different equipment requirements. Like this mod is somewhat cool, but it's realistically poorly executed.
I dont mind waiting lol, I just watch something else on a second monitor, I really like this mod
The mod by itself is good, even if there are a couple of thing that could be changed for the better . The problem is that without rliminating SA and AF your pc is going to day in the first years. Its really slow mostly because of microstates and having hundred of useless nations. Its sad, this mod has so much potential but its permormance issue on low and medium end pc make it almost a nightmare at best and unplayable at worst.
@@carbobruto9407 It's not even the performance to me. There's just nothing that happens, waiting for PP to change your government, producing a division takes literally ages with how little factories you have.. I tried the normal start and it was so lame, had to wait 8years before I got into my first war that was due to an event, not even me declaring on someone.
If you want fast games and map painting I recommend comp or r56. MD is set in the modern age where map painting is frowned upon
@@Hammurabae I mean, there's slow, and then there's MD. You play 12years in game for literally 30minutes of war. There's a way to make a political/modern mod without making it seem like a chore. I'm fine playing Kaiserreich and vanilla going against the odds.

How do i make a PMC or get a mercany company?
Go to decisions, scroll down until you see options for hiring PMC's. They have an initial cost, and then a monthly one after. Equipment and manpower comes from you besides what they initially start with.
