Millennium Dawn Pros and Cons:
Pros- Turns a war game into a modern economy and politics simulator
Cons - Turns a war game into a modern economy and politics simulator
XD 😂
When I saw the US in my Millenium Dawn game go 25000b in debt, I believed that the mod was too complicated even for it's own AI...
Then I looked up the height of US debt in the real world.
US Economic policy built different, not in a good way
@@Hammurabae YOU DONT UNDERSTAND WE NEED TO SPEEEEEEEND
@@admiraljohan7152hahhaa
32 trillion
25000b? Not enough.
Id love to see critical infrastructure and resources in Millenium Dawn - like food, gas/oil with pipelines needed for efficient civilian and military factories. That would get the game one level higher in terms of realism!
yeah but it would just make it too complex
@@H3rraM4juri maybe - or maybe not. Railways and supply are currently the best thing that could happen to warfare in hoi iv in my opinion. I believe that better reflected resource transport and trade would make the same for economy and powerplay.
The other thing i would love seeing is being able to force your options in peace conference if you are major power/superpower even if you didn't fight directly. That should be accompanied by military power having it's share in war contribution. As a superpower it should be possible to shape world without being engaged directly!
Bro it’s already like three times more complicated then base game💀

The current mod is great, I love the idea, and I admire the work put into this. It's complicated but with videos like these one can grab basics and have fun :)
But for me skipping these (and to a lesser extent straits - control of it should generate political power and GDP at least) causes a high loss in ralism. Currently one fights not only for resources but to control trade routes. The lack of these completely transforms powerplay and strategy... If Millennium Dawn wants to simulate the current political landscape (and I thought it does) it requires at least 3 more features:
- food and commodities
- pipelines/transport routes (straits included)
- peace conference rebalanced :)
You helped me a year ago you helping me now thanks bro
When it comes to debt I’d recommend paying it off as often as possible and try to get it near zero. If you actually manage to get it paid off you won’t have to worry about a debt crisis during WW3 which is the last thing you need in the late game when division costs are through the moon. Bonus points are earned for this in the late game when major powers keep exploding into civil wars because the AI is still pretty bad at economy even if super powers rarely self destruct anymore.
Thanks this video really helped me understand the game(mod)
Im ngl you should be getting more views
First I thank for the video, help me much. Now I ask if you know about the ONU mod and how play multiplayer with he.
I love the economic mechanic in millenium dawn, but the time for buliding civilian factory by investment is sooo Looong. For example it take 933 day for only 3 civilian factory with max infrastructur and network.
Is there any change to reduce time for building? it is really frustating to only build Infrastructure and network😅
There is if you know how to work with in-game files
Can you make a video on how to download millenium dawn and run it with the correct version please, because i had lots of problem in it
While in the majority of cases it is true for the trade laws I find it more worthwhile to use global trade early on as Canada because of the fact they have a huge surplus of resources and them being in Nato means it is easier to export to big consumers. It is especially good to give that early cash boost when combined with the oil focuses
Whenever I try to build something it tells me I do not have an assigned industry. What does it mean by that? Is there a hidden menu or something that I missed?
tbh russia in late game can be powerful but it takes time to build large army and challenge major powers (of course if you have ai division limit off) and oh yeah i always go for mandatory service bcs i don't care what happens to my soldiers
''I don't care about what happens to my soldiers'' playing straight IRL Russia lmfao.
@@commanderchaos5670 just build lot of infantry and tanks and just throw them into the meat grinder because I HAVE THE MANPOWER TO DO SO
@@H3rraM4juri yup and Russia's economy is strong once you get out of the initial early phase.
@@H3rraM4juri russia has barely enough men to fight a minor country xd. us, china and eu can conscript tens of millions each with little to no economic effect while russian federation is barely able to field a few millions at best before collapsing.
@@Jack-he8jv the ai and player russia are two different fucking things
Do you know what other factors influence GDP? If we go by the numbers provided, assuming you aren't a rural microstate with one office complex taking your one building slot and thus have a gdp per capita through the roof, the highest you can get gdp per capita through buildings seems to be 48k with the numbers provided through 3 office complexes per state with each state barely having 300k population. Is trade added to GDP?
GDP is based on your factories (civs, mils, dockyards, offices).
If you are getting civs through trade this are included in the calculation. See: Russia at game start whose civs will almost all come from oil exports.
@@sneedchuckington so 48k per capita is indeed the max then
Investing takes I think around 20-30 years to pay off so unless you plan to pay till late game it might not be worth it compared to paying off your debts.
A lot of MD players go until late. If your budget isnt balanced make office complexes instead or cut costs.
Investing in other countries is more of a tool for acquiring subjects half the time. Making money is a side benefit.
Also at least in my USSR games it's been really amusing putting down 15 civs a year in countries that I know will be part of me soon. Whether they like it or not.
Do I understand correctly that volunteer service is more expensive than mandatory service? I never understood why that is
Also is there a way to increase the opinion of internal factions other than focuses and random events?
It’s actually pretty simple. With a volunteer service the government needs to compete with industry for soldiers whereas in conscription services the government can pay you whatever it feels and you have to do it or go to jail.
@@adamm4766 Makes sense now thank you
Hey! Could you explain the omt system?
Does AI manage their military stockpile costs or do they just produce?
They manage them in order to balance budget
Could you explain how the weapons Market is working, I placed order but how long does it take before I get the Equipment I want to buy?
Check your decisions to see a timer at the top telling you how long. I believe its a month or few
How to play it without the Bux ? The game Crashs every time if i play it longer
Ive never played hearts of iron, day i got the game immediately went to millenium dawn
How did that go 😅🤣
Pretty bad but got better but if the support for this mode stops I'm dead
A lot of people buy hoi4 to play MD and old world blues tbh.
@@Hammurabae Alot more for OWB, mostly just Fallout Fans that just want to play a new fallout game instead of waiting for Todd Howard to make another one 😂
I’m not understanding how to get rubber for production. I trade for it but it costs civ industry. I’ve burned through that already. Isn’t there any other way to gain good without using industrial building as a trade off?
Invading a country that has said goods, or building refineries other than those i think thats it
What is reinvestment investment?
Did they completely do away with agriculture?
This mod is just painful. I think I got the economy after 3rd watch, but for the military I will need to see the video 8 more times
I've seen this video before
Ok

Honestly, this economy thing feels off. Because if we're talking about MD here, it should account for different things and repurpose some economic actions, such as civs, why do civs divert to tax costs? Why can't the office parks do that? Another reason is trade, why do civs go to other nations when you want to trade? Makes no sense, because the Cold War mod already made a better version and that is you don't pay with civs but actual money, also there's no civilian consumption in MD but in cold war, there is [Consumption Economy spirit] also the economic synergy between nations is lacking, in MD4 the global economy was very interconnected like irl (i suppose that's cuz resources were limited and oil was still used to make ships and tanks, making oil exporting countries like Russia and Saudi Arabia very, VERY broken in terms of civ amount) while here it feels isolationist. I feel it's only right to expand on the economics of MD to include all available forms of irl modern day economy matters, because it still feels like it's VERY heavily focused on the military and expansion.
Another point (this is more of my favourite) is the ability to cut resource production, now you may ask why? Because it can increase the price of those certain resources like irl, if you were playing Saudi Arabia for instance and you GREATLY cut your oil production (with a cap of 10%) it should make the oil prices soar and make u a LOT of revenue (ofc it should be counterbalanced by either demands from other nations for you to increase your oil production or for other oil rich nations to increase their production)
Can someone help me because my population income is 0
Playing as Ghana. Not easy!
What's the difference between basic and cash crops? Why should I priotize one over the other? (if this is in the video sorry, i played it in the background while playing hoi4)
I feel like number of building slots depending on population is a bit strange
Returning playee here, i notice they removed the Weapons Market in MD 1.9.1... did they put it on international Market on DLC (arms against tyranny)? Also is selling weapons in that DLC generate Income?
Friday comes new update and brings market back and solutio to the issues with game crash because of AAT dlc.
