So we reach probably the most uneven season of them all. There's some terrible things (one of which you’ve seen), but there's good stuff in there, too. My favourite character of this season hasn't got their full groove on yet, but you'll know when they have.
Just so you know, all the Grips are former Gophers, while half the Gaffers are former Bass. I know, three quarters of the cast. It was more even with Bridgette and Geoff because they were both Bass.
Gophers were definitely the main characters season 1.

3:10 to Crazytown just sucks. It really pulls to ahead what Trent became. So much so that I’m not sad to see him go. And that I’m not sad that this is where they retired the character entirely. He’s reduced to a Peanut Gallery role for the rest of the show and I just… can’t bring myself to care. Trent’s my least favorite character of the original cast because of this. That said… it was never the original intent. We know now that this was all the higher ups meddling with the show. They didn’t want most couples to stay together because it was “too unrealistic”. Yeah, as if everything else in Total Drama is *so* believable. It just sucks that this is what it became. And it’s a shame that Trent became just a single domino in the hellish Total Drama love web and the one who never made it out. The higher ups suck.

19:30 my favorite scene in episode one of season two.
So, Monster Cash. It’s a good episode but it embodies everything a lot wrong Action to me they shrink the cast down to fourteen but keep the episode count the exact same. What does that leave? A bloated feeling season that feels empty. Everyone else’s absence is felt. Ezekiel’s absence is felt, Eva’s absence is felt, Noah’s is felt, Katie’s is felt, Tyler’s is felt, Cody’s is felt, Sadie’s is felt, and Courtney’s is felt. It’s especially bad that of those eight, none made merge last time and seven were in *desperate* need of extra screentime. Having 14 characters instead of 22 in a 26 episode was not a good move. But hey, at least there’s no problems with our already existing characters… right? Oh and also a boys team versus girls team isn’t a good idea, it limits potential dynamics.
To be fair, one of them will have plenty of time later. And I'm glad to have Beth and Justin along, both of who got the shaft last season.
@@strawberrysoulforever8336 I mean yes, obviously I know one of them gets plenty of time later and some get plenty of time in later seasons… okay not *plenty* of time, but some time. But it doesn’t stop Action from feeling… empty.

Action isn't best season but its still good.
Alien Resu-eggtion is alright. Eleven out of the fourteen characters are well written… but three aren’t. Trent is suddenly extremely awkward and weird around Gwen… but we know it gets worse. And reducing Geoff and Bridgette to just two people that make out all the time is just… dumb. I get why they did it and I think what it leads to is good, but it’s still weird to see. And going into episode three with 12 instead of how we went into episode three with 21 last season just feels… so wrong.
Riot on Set is mostly pretty good. The problem is that this really begins Trent’s… downfall. I hate what it does to his character. He acts nearly indistinguishable from how he did in season one. It feels so wrong, almost like this isn’t what they wanted… but nah, higher ups would *never* mess with the show… anyway I like the team formation. The Screaming Gaffers are easily my favorite team in the series, they cooked on that. Sad to see E-Scope go, but… eh she didn’t have much to do… at least for this part of the series. I also like the addition of the whole illegal alliance plot, it’s a good storyline.

Beach Blanket Bogus is… bad. I really don’t like what Trent’s become. This nonsensical number nine thing came out of nowhere and is so stupid. His descent into madness is so dumb. And I don’t like that he’s throwing challenges now, and I *also* don’t like that he gets the idea from Owen and not Justin when Justin is supposed to be the season’s villain. It’s just… it’s not good.
