There isnt a football fan in their fifties or sixties who isnt in a reflective mood this weekend. Thank you Stanley, for all the entertainment and enjoyment. RIP
Perfectly put.
My childhood floats away. Francis to Bowles...GOAL with Brian Moore doing the commentary. RIP Stan.
I'm a Liverpool fan from Ireland, I remember QPR and Liverpool going down to the wire for the title in '76 and the run QPR had in the EUFA cup in '77. I loved watching that QPR team, very entertaining and Stan was right at the heart of it. Slan abhaile Stan.
Villa Fan here, Nice memories from my childhood when Stan was one of those players of the era like Frank Worthington, Duncan McKenzie, Tony Currie, Alan Hudson that you`d pay the attendance fee to watch. Even at the young age of 10yrs at the time, i was absolutely fascinated at the transfer in 1979 of Bowles from QPR to the European Champions forest, Given his and Brian Clough`s reputation as both larger than life characters. But this very transfer tells me that if Clough had become England Manager in the 1970`s as he surely deserved, the soccer mavericks of the era would have had more of a Look in for England than they had under Sir Alf Ramsey and Don Revie and Ron Greenwood. Remember it was also Clough that signed Duncan Mc Kenzie for Leeds, so i am convinced they would have got more than the few paltry caps they received.
Sad news just come in. Stan has sadly passed away aged 75. RIP Stan Bowles. 🙏 😢
Agreed, even if you haven`t mentioned Peter Osgood. Loved watching them all.
Bowles had the 3 fs flair, finesse and finishing, every shot caressed into the corner, lovely 2 watch RIP we will never see his like again
I am from the Shed... If Alf had played Francis , Thomas and Bowles in 73 we would have got to Argentina and won.....
RIP Stan. What a player.
Legend of the 70's loved watching him & Dave Thomas rip defences apart. Thanks for posting
Flashback to when I was a boy. Not a QPR supporter but Bowles put a smile on everyone's face. Another brilliant player that English football can produce but doesn't know quite what to do with.
same...........I'm West Ham till I die........but as a lad loved watching Stan play.............
RIP Stan Bowles.
One of the game's true entertainers.
I thought number one would be when he shot the table on Sporting Superstars :D God the game's dull these days without a Stan about.
I was at the QPR v Cardiff game (supporting Cardiff) and we were behind the goal that he scored. Many of us clapped the goal it was SO brilliant!
One of the best from my youth. Great to see his goals. Sorry to hear he has left us.
As a lifelong QPR supporter I can watch these one after another ,first saw the R's in 1967 ,fingers crossed for this season !
So sad about stan bowles never saw him play live but do remember his maverick style amd will be sorely missed one of qpr all time greats r.i.p stan gone but not forgotten 😢
A great skilful player from the 1970s who seemed to play with a sense of unaffected cheekiness, and left a smile on many people's faces. Thanks for the memories
My friends and I used to go to Loftus Road from 1972 as 12 year olds and paid a few shillings to get in. We loved that team, Stan Bowles, Don Given, Dave Thomas, Phil Parkes in goal, Terry Mancini, Gerry Francis, Terry Venables, Ian Morgan and the rest. We tried to play like Stan. He was the Gazza and Hazard of his day. Lovely guy, a bit crazy. Best wishes Stan.
Fantastic time proper football full of personalities and great players and now there sadly passing away it’s depressing RIP Stan Bowles
A true football superstar. RIP Stan. Will be missed in the Blue Bell.
Thanks for the memories, Stan was class.
Wow! How good was he?! Every goal slotted in with precision. Quality player!
In the Modern game he'd be considered bog-standard and probably not make it past a team like Solihull Moors. The quality around today is another level
@@stevepeachey6469 of course, because the modern game is where it's at. Better pitches, lighter balls, different approach to fitness, etc. Very difficult to compare, but I'm quite sure that it would be the opposite. Go back 20 years and further back, they had to rely on talent. How many of the premier league players would have cut it back then? Not many. Different times. This guy had undeniable talent.
@@dedgeroo4665 Totally Agree, Stanley was a fantastic 'Natural' and there has never ever been many of them past or present!
@@stevepeachey6469 You`re ignorant...modern day players hardly ever get tackled ,so they`re allowed a lot more time on the ball,Stan used to get kicked to bits every week, the modern players would be in tears after only 5 minutes of that sort of treatment.
RIP, Stan. A genius with the ball at his feet.
Bowles could shoot with both feet too.
Certainly a maverick, but an absolute star.
The most talented and exciting player in the country from'73-'77
Yes,he was, every other club in the country would have loved to have hi, but they didn`t have the balls to handle his moods the way Rangers did.
The man who made me support QPR.
RIP Stan, you were the best, QPR fans of the generation will miss you.
This vid should be re-titled "Top 10 Stan Bowles Goals on TV"...I was at every match he ever played in his seven years at QPR and saw him score a LOT of goals which were far FAR better than these ones....It`s a terrible shame the cameras weren`t at all the matches in those days the way they are now....He used to score a ton of world-class direct free kick goals from outside the area too,I`ve never seen another player who could bend and swerve the ball around the wall as much as Stan Bowles did....."Banana shots" as they were called in those days.
yeah sadly I don't have that many of his goals, no doubt there are plenty of better ones i've missed.
Great to have these goals all in one place. Pure joy! Thank you.
God bless you Stan one of our very best
Great goals by a fabulous player.
A pity there doesn't seem to be any footage of Stan scoring for Carlisle United. He took the piss out of A.S.Roma in the Anglo-Italian Cup in 1972. What a wonderful player he was for us.
Is there any footage at all of his Carlisle days?
Notice how Stan played better on ITV, although the goal against Cologne was his favourite.
Super cool finisher.
All of those big names playing for QPR ~ ~ Different times.
RIP Stan Bowles.
From a time when players went out to entertain the fans. Stan, alongside Tony Currie and Rodney Marsh, are my main memories from this era - when football was a sport, not a business. And the 3 players I've mentioned were a pleasure to watch. I'm a United fan but speak for all true football fans when I say, God bless you Stan and thanks for the memories ❤
Stan Bowles was a really good footballer
Legend
Perfect footballer who could score.
I used to go to London quite often and nearly always went to QPR. I saw some wonderful goals from a wonderful player. Why was it that he always seemed to require at least one defender to sit on the floor just as he was trying to shoot. It wasn’t a Stan Bowles goal if he didn’t do that. I remember one game where he ran most of the length of their half and was one on one with the keeper and eventually threw him so many dummies that he just sat down and Bowles simply rolled it in. You just don’t see that any more.
Great memories of a good player.
Exquisite precision fnishng.
saw Stan score straight from a corner at Ayresome Park Middlesbrough great entertainer
I remember it all being a q p r supporter , 😅Dave sexton was a great manager
Stanley was ...... Simply the best!!!!!
Loftus Road ... immagini semplicemente meravigliose ...
sono stato nella "loft" dal 75 al 79 e ho solo bellissimi ricordi sono un tifoso del Queens Park Rangers che vive in Italia e ho incontrato Stanley una domenica mattina al parco di Pitshanger.
El Tel with a few assists. Begs the question ‘74 and ‘78 England were not great. Why didn’t this geezer earn more caps? I having deja vu as this was the question everyone asked Matt Le Tissier too years later.
I think England were good they just played the best in qualifying rounds and were unlucky. Not like now where they play teams like Moldova etc
@@mickpearson6184 and the other thing as well .. francis and bowles didnt play together for england as they did for QPR even tho they were both picked for england at same time.. we just never know.. little things like that could have changed things
RIP Stan the man
A entertainer nuff said
Great player RIP
RIP, Stan.
R.I.P, legends 😭😭
RIP STAN😢
Worthington Currie Hudson Marsh and Bowles the most underrated players England's ever had
Nonsense not at all underrated!
Ah, well, now you’re talking ,..
RIP!
Had'nt realised what a side QPR had in those days. What a player !! Le Tissier, Bowles, Worthington, Gascoigne all miles better than todays foreign rubbish. Showed their skills on muddy pitches not snooker tables.
Great team I agree - but I dont agree about the "foreign rubbish"
Does anyone know where I can buy a Time Machine?
Mick thomas was welsh , we,rn,t he ..??
U need to jump when you score a goal as your celebration 😂
😢
Great stuff Terry Venables in there setting things up
