I certainly think people should read and study the bible. It worked for me. When I saw for myself what it really contained it led me toward atheism.

Yes the voice in your head must be the devil telling you not to open your Bible tapes, actually could not be your subconscious voicing your preconceived notions.
The bible IS meaningless.
Have you read it all the way through? Or at least gotten a summary of the books? I find it hard to believe that you wouldnt find ANY meaning in the bible. Even if you don't believe it's a 100% true story, it's had a lot of meaning to the history of our society....things that were not always common.
It's a collection of ancient stories. For that reason alone it has value.
