@@utube0372 I did some of these except mines look a little more 3D-ish. I used liquid nail to reinforce the glue because I don't think the glue that's already on the back of the tile will last once the kitchen change in temperature from use. If I ever want to change it I'll just mud and sand the damaged spots. I hope this helps.

Looks to me like its a 12" tall piece (most seem to come in a 12x12 sheets) and the distance from the cabinet to counter is about 14", so a 2" gap at the top. No cutting needed for top or bottom. They drew straight line at the top so they knew it was perfectly straight/level - the cabinet could possibly not be perfectly level. I'd think that IF there was any gap at all at the bottom of the stick-on tile because the cabinet was not perfectly level, you could use caulking to fill that space in, though I am not sure how that would look. Otherwise you'd be cutting the stick-on tile at an angle and that would probably look worse.

  • @courag1

i also have dark cabinets and though I have great lightning, I would not put a backsplash up which would not reflect at least as much as my white wall has been doing. The reason is that if one cannot see adequately and you are cutting with a knife, you can make an error and cut into your own hand or fingers.
Pretty needs and education to what is safe. If one wants the dark tile, then you need under cabinet lighting to make up for the amount you have removed in reflective lighting or worse, you may decide that you need to refinish or paint your cabinetry white to solve a problem you made with the wrong color on the backsplash.
If you have white cabinets already, you can choose whatever color you like. But if you have dark cabinets, white subway tiles are the best option or something which looks like stainless steel.

It seems obvious that the tiles are not sized properly to interlock with the other sheet...thats why the edges are sitting on top of the other tiles instead of cleanly sitting between them. If this is how a properly applied one is supposed to look, i think i will pass.

Me too. I have installed wallpaper, floor tiles etc.. I was skeptical that these would hold. I thought I did all the right things. I patched wall, sanded, primed, cleaned with TSP, and skuffed wall with sandpaper for adhesion. I bought at major retailer. I asked the tile department in advance for recommended additional adhesive before I began, but they said that anything I used would probably reduce overall adhesion. Began curling within a couple of months,,keep re-attaching but getting worse. Now been 3 years, and planning to replace. We didn't have humidity or splashed water problems,, just didn't stick permanently to our walls.
Update : I removed a couple of tiles that became loose. On the back looks like they did not make full contact with the wall because of the recessed pattern. I had tried rolling the tiles when I put them on. Anyway, they primarily curl at the overlap onto the adjacent tile. I followed other's suggestions and used polyurethane construction adhesive on overlaps,, wiped thoroughly clean and taped down to hold until dry. That was a month ago, and is holding well.

These tiles look great but takes extreme patience to peel the paper off the tile. They have got to find another way. If you have little patience or bad eyesight. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this product.

If done correctly it's a good product.
Unfortunately real stone doesn't always look good or match what a person is going for and ends up being a costly waste.
They stick products have their place and purpose.
