  • This was the most voted in the Top 5 Biggest Mistakes video! I tried to keep it short and combine drop with orientation. I hope the examples and metaphors help some of you finally piece the puzzle together!
    Also, check out my standstill tutorial which will help in putting it all together!

    Nothing better than randomly stumbling upon a video that addresses exactly the main thing I’ve been working to fix the past 2 months. You did a beautiful job elaborating this.

    Wow this video is gold, there’s so many videos out there on “leading with the elbow” and “how to fix rounding” but very few disc golf CZcamsrs actually explain the intricacies like this that most would never even think of on their own.

    Wow! Didn’t realize how inflexible my elbow was. Went out and slowed it way down to allow my body to keep the elbow up and I was able to throw just as far with WAY less effort. Had a couple of the easiest 300+ throws I’ve ever had. Made me think 400+ is actually possible! Thanks for the great content.

    And that little dork is messing up my drive for sure. The way you explain concepts in your videos just make so much more sense to me then other videos. Thanks so much for this! Also, great little call to action at the end there lol.

    I’m glad I stayed until the end! But this is great info. A recent cue that I started telling myself was to actually watch my disc pull through below my elbow during my throw. It not only helps me keep my head down (so I don’t stand up in my throw), but also helped me keep that elbow up and out. Maybe it will help others. 🤷‍♂️

    Bodanza posted a video recently where he talked about some things he had learned from Gibson by watching him. He said that on Drew’s first right step in the x-step he takes his left hand and kind of “rolls the disc up” and it raises his elbow and sets him in this ideal position. He couldn’t articulate it much, but he demonstrated it. I tried it in the field, and immediately saw results. I think this video outlines exactly what Gibson is doing, and maybe the way bodanza describes it may give another que to get into the form you’re talking about?

    This gave me a sudden epiphany as to why when i speed up and i struggle to get in the power pocket at the course compared to throwing into the net at home. I put so much emphasis on my elbow by either giving the disc the space to work to be able to come back through the pocket and looking back at some of my videos everything looks solid until you mentioned the elbow down because my disc is essentially facing the opposite way of me which makes sense now as to why some throws felt so off and like i was fighting to get my arm caught up to speed because i locked it out on my reach back. which also makes sense for my inconsistencies. No one else really explains what brief casing means besides just holding it there at start up. I just have to visually and mentally brief case my reach back because i can see how much easier it is for my elbow to come back through during rotation. My friend thank you. I knew something was causing a hitch. i almost feel stupid 😅 great great video.

    This is gold. Really good explanation of the problems, and a drill progression to fix them. Looked at my recent slow-mos, and noticed my elbow is pointing straight at the ground at peak reachback, which totally explains why I've got a bit of elbow dip and been throwing some sky hyzers on accident. My delt feels tired just doing some reps, so I got some work to do. Thanks!

    Thought provoking video. I’ve been struggling with the elbow issue for a while now. Recently had ulnar, medial and lateral nerve issues along with tennis elbow and golf elbow. Been doing a lot of therapy to get everything strong and working again, but I still have the elbow dip issue and I wonder if my body is trying to protect itself. I feel if I could get the elbow up and loose like you are advocating, speed, and accuracy would follow.

  • @ioweutube2
    @ioweutube2 Před 4 měsíci

    You mentioned "if the stamp goes towards the camera in your reach back" and I realized that I got the elbow dip problem when I tried to re-learn the hyzer recently. I probably didn't hinge my hyzers enough and started 'intentionally' getting that elbow drop instead...
    I'm gonna go work on the twirly whirly and I'll wait for a video on how to get more/better ab engagement (I think my body is scared of the rotation while hinged enough for a good hyzer).

    You are an awesome coach. I see good things in your future.
    I have a question. For someone who has struggled to achieve a lot as far as working on form, do you think a tech disc would be a helpful tool, since you would have actual numbers to see what works and what doesnt? I often find myself questioning if what im doing is helping, because ive tried so many different things.

    • @BlitzDG
      @BlitzDG  Před 4 měsíci +1

      hahaha. That's a tough one man. We all do a little strong arming here or there. Just gotta remember feel vs. real. You only THINK you're throwing harder alot of the time :)

    • @Rytubes
      @Rytubes Před 4 měsíci

      @@BlitzDG I’m going to find a small, light wiffle bat and start practicing left handed swings; try and exercise on your note about getting your body to slowly recognize that it’s capable of said motion. I feel like I have a huge mental block on engaging my hips and core from the backhanded position. I’ll get there.

  • @MusicGW
    @MusicGW Před 4 měsíci

    does the grip matter? I keep dropping my elbow, and I have the disc tilted with the flightplate towards the camera in my power pocket. So I almost got it flat against my chest in my power pocket

    • @BlitzDG
      @BlitzDG  Před 4 měsíci

      You don't want your stamp facing the camera at reachback. I talk about that in the video.

  • @happyboyeeeee
    @happyboyeeeee Před 4 měsíci

    Am I hearing this right? Is the pull initiated by the shoulder rotation? It would make sense if it were, because every time I manually pull or bend the elbow to get the disc in the pocket, I have to tense parts of my arm and shoulder to do it.

    • @BlitzDG
      @BlitzDG  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I don't want to send the wrong message here. This isn't just rotate and let the arm flap about. It's a chain. Each piece has to do it's part and "accept" help from the other parts. That's the key. Whatever you want to imagine going first is fine with me as long as everything is working together throughout the pull.
