      @@BlitzDG Honestly it sounds like you’re speaking to me! 🤣 I have a lot of those things going on - it's practically a checklist and I've started to work out the underlying problems behind it. In my case it's more than just a) shrugging the shoulder and b) dropping the elbow. Both are definitely happening, and they're related due to external shoulder rotation during my swing. But I only recently worked out that the root cause is further downstream. I think I'll make a video on my channel this Friday. You may want to watch it, but basically Owen's approach showed me that what I was doing with my torso and lower body was putting myself in the position to cause this. I'm not rotating properly, so forcibly lean forward and shrug my throwing shoulder, and the arm has no choice but to externally rotate. BTW Gyro Nation is a friend of mine and he helped get me started to build an understanding of what I was doing. Small world!

    I’m definitely late to the party but I have the shoulder shrugging problem as well as the elbow orientation problem. A video on either of those would be sweet.
    Keep on making these vids, much love.

    I have went through 3 well know coaches trying to figure out how to fix the disc flip up issue ( #1 issue). I was always told "just throw slower". Now that I know what the actual issue is, its probably a sinch to fix. this could be what pushes me past that 66 area

    I'll add, yes, make a video about elbow orientation. I can add that "briefcasing" the disc turns the arm more towards being elbow out naturally. Not sure if good, bad, or just a bandaid at this point. Would also love for you to add to the notion of keeping your arm loose/relaxed vs adding muscle to it. Or when you're doing what. Keep the content coming, you're on a ROLL!

  • @chrisblood1971
    @chrisblood1971 Před 6 měsíci

    Loving the content! When you do the tense wrist video, can you touch on whether and how to maintain the “pour the coffee” position?
    I ask because I’ve been focused on that for a really long time, because until you released a recent video, I didn’t realize the problem was actually in my elbow position. So I could never fix it with wrist position, even though I’m pouring the hell out the world’s biggest pot of coffee at this point, and my wrist is, as you would expect, tense. That said, I imagine there’s still a good and bad wrist position for nose down, so trying to figure out how to maintain it without tension would be super helpful.
    Thanks again for the great videos! The 4-part series has been some of the most helpful content I’ve ever watched 👍

  • @mr.twoputt9241

    I developed a bad habit of leading with my head... no matter how much I try to keep it down or in line with my shoulders during rotation, it always happens. I know I'm arming the disc more than I should be and have a few other issues. But that one is what's literally hurting me. This is years of muscle memory and I can't break it. I can throw over 400' but I started feeling the strain in my neck and it gets bad the more I throw power backhands. Maybe that could be a good video soon and it'll benefit others than just myself I assume. Thanks for the videos, digging them.

    • @BlitzDG
      @BlitzDG  Před 6 měsíci

    I have tried to find information about elbow pit orientation on the release point and right after it with very little success.
    Should the elbow pit be oriented backwards always even though it naturally turns almost upwards when arm is straightened all the way?
    Great videos keep it up!

    • @BlitzDG
      @BlitzDG  Před 6 měsíci +1

      It's a very good question. I will put it in the notes to go over when I cover elbow drop. I can only really say what I do, as I'm sure there are 1 million factors like limb lengths and mobility in every joint that come into play.

    • @putkipihvi324
      @putkipihvi324 Před 6 měsíci

      @@BlitzDG I feel like that elbow pit facing backwards would give more raw power because tricep and upper back activates more, but the drawback would be shorter arm/leverage resulting possibly into less arm speed on the tip on the throwing hand. Havent gotten to try this out on field because it still very much winter in Finland..

  • @AlanS_DGC
    @AlanS_DGC Před 6 měsíci

    I end up with a lot of lag in my shoulder and elbow. It might just be a timing issue where I start to turn my hips and chest leaving my arm behind trying to catch up. What’s your thoughts? Maybe I could even do a short video on my form as the weather gets nicer.

  • @mesh.619
    @mesh.619 Před 6 měsíci

    Any thoughts on starting the pull through prior to being fully braced on the front leg?
    Stand still throws help to eliminate that, but working up to a full x step drive the timing is very easy to throw off if you're not cognizant of that mistake.

    • @BlitzDG
      @BlitzDG  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I think number one priority is your timing, so walk up as slow as you need to to get that right, and only add speed once you have it down at your current speed. It's definitely ideal to be fully planted before pulling but it can also just blow your timing up and result in garbage throws so, you have to feather your expectations of perfection. You don't have to be perfect to throw far.

    • @mesh.619
      @mesh.619 Před 6 měsíci

      Appreciate the feedback, I've definitely messed up my upper body timing trying to focus on the plant too much (fix one thing, break something else lol)
      Your content on the upper body has definitely been helpful in my field work sessions the past few weeks! Now trying to work back up to a full x step and make sure those form tweaks stick

    I have a question for you. How to you throw on Anheiser? I lean back, keeping the disc parrallel with my chess, but that seems contradictory to your number 2 tip, arching the lower back. You have too, in order to lean back to throw on Anny.

    • @BlitzDG
      @BlitzDG  Před 6 měsíci

      I dont. I throw hard enough that 0-10 is enough to flip the disc where I need to go. I think alot of pros do the same.
