Hello Matt. What a stuggle that was. But how happy you were when the locking lugs came off!
George B
That was a struggle, but behind you now! Looking forward to the truck build, and congratulations on 500 subscribers! 👍👍👍
Thanks Alvin. I hope the next 500 goes faster.. lol
Very cool 🤙 I stripped down an 86 convertible vette put the engine in my 85 suburban turbocharged it. Have the front/rear and trans sitting around. And I bought an 87 suspension setup from one of my dad's friend's i haven't seen yet. I believe he's about got everything moved so i can pick it up.
How'd that engine work out in the suburban with that turbocharger? Sounds like you have a project coming. What are you doing with the suspension.
@Exit45Restorations it works pretty well lots of torque. I'm swapping the turbo setup and going from a 355 to a 383
Good progress! I've never tried this but I wonder if it would do any good to loosen all the other lug-nuts first. Maybe that would allow the wheel to rock infinitesimally and loosen under the offending nut? I did like the RR tie method and it's only ridiculous if it doesn't work.
Hey Scott. I went into that task with a much different understanding of how it would go than when I finished. I did go around and loosen the others and just didn't seem to help. Those locking lugs were very tight. I found those RR ties a while back and wasn't sure what I would do with them.. never though it would be that.. lol. Good to here from you Scott.
@@Exit45Restorations Just goes to show, never throw anything out! 😄
I bought the master set from hf the last time I came across one of these. I was warned there was a restocking fee. No big deal. I planned to keep them. None of them were correct. Anyway, I ended up using the extractors on 2. Nuts welded on the other 2. I heated them with mapp gas before welding the nuts on. I save the keys for them when I buy vehicles. I swap them for regular lug nuts.
@aaadamt964 that's a bummer the set didn't have the right one.. but it sounds like you will use them anyway. It was kind of fun getting them off the hard way though.
@@Exit45Restorations ha! I love a good challenge... Until it starts costing me time and money. If I only use them once or twice a year id say they're worth the investment.
You're not in California are you? I'm looking for an 84 - 89 rear bumper clip and door panels.
Hello. Sorry, I'm in Florida. That would probably be pricey shipping.
You seriously made an entire video of you struggling with lock nuts and hacking off exhaust?
I did.. thanks for checking in.
damn big undertaking good luck guys pulling for you!
Thanks. I do feel a little in over my head sometimes. I haven't done anything like this before..
