That's a stupid way how to remove the tire fram the rim 🤣🤣🤣
Why??
It’s scrap metal. The rim is no good to me. So I get it off as fast as I can. Why stupid
Please tell
@@ScrappingwithGrandpaI believe he assumed the rim is being refitted with a tire. Now that you stated that it is being scraped he probably would agree with you and the video. If he used context he would have realized that is the case like the name of your channel, the title of the video, and your statements about getting more for the rim without a tire on it implies. Most people at home are just gonna watch the first minute or so and without context come to the same conclusion as him. The majority of people coming across this video are probably looking up how to debead or remove a tire "safely" at home. This comment or misunderstanding could easily be avoided with a warning that this should not be done for a rim being reused and is for scrap purposes only or something else and even shorter along those lines in the description, title, or even better at the beginning of the video. Now should it have to be done? No, because it is easily understood, but remember your on youtube. Most people here don't have an attention span let alone use context provided in numerous ways. No shade at all to the original commenter. Now I would be curious if the commenter is saying "stupid" because they think other methods like a tool meant for debeading a tire is quicker or even better because your not tearing up the tire and they could possibly be resold reused or even scraped for a few cents at the right places, like docks or boats that use them as buffers or places that build retaining walls with them, but I doubt that is the case. Just my thoughts. Good video for those looking for a quick way to seperate the tire from the rim for scrapping purposes though.
Thank you, my friend and I agree 100%. I probably should’ve made it a little more clear.
Had to stop 🛑 scraping at 73 due my health. Love your videos. Wish I could have known the great tips you share with us!! God Bless 🙏
I’m sorry to hear you had to stop Scrapping. That stinks. I hope I make it to 73. I would be blessed if I could. I’m definitely gonna try. I love sharing tips that would help somebody. Stay blessed. Talk soon. Thanks for watching.
I was given eight tires with aluminum rims and I was looking for a way to take the rims off for Scrap. I saw this video and tried it. It absolutely works. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge on the subject.
Glad I could help
Great to hear!
That’s amazing Drew
Thank you for stopping in David
What type of blade should I use on my reciprocating saw?
Bi metal blade
Absolutely 💯 perfect
If we can get it down to 30 seconds that would be even better
Thanks for sharing that… 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
You are so welcome
Thanks for sharing 👍
It was a fun project
Your the best broo. I use the grinder.. I alone. It suck.. after watching your video your a saver.. bro
I’m glad to help you my friend
so you cant use the sawzall to cut the bead? and what is that new angle grinder blade at the end?
It’s a diamond blade, and they work great for the bead
What blade did you use on the sawzall ?
Metal cutting blade
Awesome Video Grandpa! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much Elissa I love your little mouse. And thank you for all the hearts. I love making videos I love sharing my day. I love sharing my fun
What blades did he use for the Sawzall and the grinder?
Are used a wood cutting blade for the rubber I should say bi metal. And a diamond blade for the rest of it
Good lord I should have never looked at the comment section. All it did was remind me of how ignorant people are nowadays. I mean how many people are going to sit here and say something about damaging the rim when this man literally brought up scrapping the rims or scrap in general 600 times in this video. Good lord why are people so dumb nowadays.
I could not agree more
Wow that was awesome.
We’re hoping somebody will challenges and do it in less than 35 we’re going to try to get it down to 30 or less.
That is amazing fast ....thanks for showing me this
You’re welcome 😊
That's a great idea i have to get 4 old tires off of steel rims I want the rims so the part of that will help me out thank you for the video
Glad I could help
Very very nice video
Hopefully we can get it down to 30 seconds
He need me to bring more Aluminum? 😆 super cool way to do that! Good people! They got a channel yet?
He could always use your aluminum you know that and he still paying the best price. He does not have a channel yet. Right now he is living through me. You should see some of the cool things he is doing. He has already sold probably 7000 pounds of fishing weights
Amazing buddy
Thank you my friend and I had such a good time making that video for some reason
Good morning nice video...scrap on
Thank you my friend I appreciate you stopping by
What exact blade is that? Ive struggled to cut mine
The blade on the grinder is a diamond cutting blade. The blade on the saws all is a steel cutting blade. It cuts through rubber great
Awesome thanks
Welcome 😊
What edge blade was he using?
Diamond blade
What is nonferrous metal?
Aluminum brass copper anything except for steel
Just subscribed. Good stuff.
Thank you my friend I’m glad to have you I hope we can entertain
@@ScrappingwithGrandpa My pleasure. Always like seeing what you get at the body shop and pull out of the dumpsters.
What length blade was he using? About how long did the blades last? I am wearing out blades because the tire is moving with the blade
We use a wood, cutting saws, all blade and a diamond blade for the bead
A wood sawzall blade? I was buying metal cutting blades
All you need is a 6 inch saw, saw blade and a diamond tip cutting wheel for your grinder. You can do it and 30 seconds.
Any particular style blade? Metal? medium metal? thick metal? ??? Thanks alot for the video.
Great video
Thank you big red
35 seconds is a good number
What’s the brand of sawzaall blade ?
I made that video a while back. I don’t remember the brand it might’ve been a Lennox.
@@ScrappingwithGrandpa I got them
I watched the video again 3rd time lol I cut a tire around the sidewall first and the top tread was hard to cut but I see in the video he does across the top first then each side before that metal bead with the grinder .
smart idea!
If you’re not trying to save the rim it works good
even if you are saving it lol ! @@ScrappingwithGrandpa
Awesome 👏
Thank you! Cheers!
Man, that’s incredible!! Thanks for the tips !!!
We want to get it down to 30 seconds
I made bead breaker out railroad iron, tire removal with manual irons and soap
That is so awesome
That was epic haha gotta be some kind of record time! ♻💪😎
That is pretty quick I kept on saying 39 seconds but at the end of the video listen and you’ll see I said 35 seconds. And I think we can do it faster than that
We’re going to try to break our own record and do it in 30 or less
@@ScrappingwithGrandpa have the angle grinder ready to hand to your friend I bet 30 seconds is doable!
I’m thinking that’s cheating so I was thinking that we needed a bench a small bench or a chair to set the grinder on because I want it to be a one-man thing
@@ScrappingwithGrandpa that is true and also a good idea! I can't wait to see the next video!
That was the fastest tire cutting off the rim i ever saw, i have about 13 aluminum rims with tires where are you located what city or you in the California area, send me your address, i loved you're a how you took that tire off in 35 seconds with the diamond blade and edge blade thanks. 😊
Some people say that is a stupid way to do it because I ruin the rim. They think I should resell the rim by itself. I’m not sure where I would sell one single rim to anybody. So I’m not trying to save the rim. I’m trying to scrap it. I am a Scrapper. That’s what I do. Thank you for the comment and good luck with your tires. Actually I live in Southport , North Carolina.
🕚
I use my log splitter for steel and aluminum rims to get the tires off works every time
Now I bet that is mass I need one
I have seen the aluminum rims blow up
Great job Blake! I’ve got a lot of tires to get rid of. This will help.
Glad I could help!
Can this technique be done without damaging the rim?
No not at all
Thanks for the tips! I tried the cutoff saw like you did (ruining rims on my channel) but this looks much better
Like I said I could give them to him for $16 each that’s good money with the tire on it I wouldn’t even have to worry about it but if I have a good size rim it could weigh 40 pounds and at $.90 a pound for rims that’s good money
Thank you very much. Now i know there a better way. It usually take me 10 mins per tire
And my blade get dull after during 3 tire cuts. One time i set tire on fire with all heat from the blade.
Lol. That is so funny. I can see if you’re cutting for that long how the blade can get hot enough to start a fire. Like I say inhaling that smoke is not the best smoke you can inhale. Yes there is a better way I think you’ll find my way very easy on your next tire thank you for watching my friend.
Incognito could learn how to do that, maybe he could get a job there...tanks for sharing
That would be nice I could use the help
This ruins the rim !! Get a good steak knife from a thrift store, used motor oil and go around the sidewall - the oil makes the cutting go easy. With most of the tire gone cut a "V" in a spot to get all the way down to the rim, then use the thin grinder blade, working CAREFULLY at a 45* angle to JUST pop the wire bead. Don't nick the aluminum, but if you do, fill the nick with RTV silicone.
Now you can re-use the rim.
Cool
Incredible, world record..
Lol
What if you want to save the tire?
Then, this probably wouldn’t be the best way to take it off
hey buddy, i saw on non-ferrus jeff use the jaws of life to cut the rubber off smaller tires but i think seeing you are a very smart person maybe make a sharp metal piece on a crushing press to cut tie rubber
I wish I had 1. This is all I have
I have a few used tire shops that buy aluminum rim's with any condition of tires for $15. and higher now. Great video Drew
$15.50 is a good price with the rubber on it
But he gives me $.90 a pound for just a rim. I don’t even have to take the valve stem out. If you get an aluminum rim that weighs 45 pounds like a big 22 or bigger rim that’s good money
Not if you grind deep slots in them. Only a recycling center will pay for a trashed rim.
It did make metal once for a grinder
That’s how I clean them up my tires on rims my steel wheels I have a rim crusher I’m trying to build out of old wood spitter but I don’t get rims that much
Well I’m gonna tell you something right now if you build a rim crusher and you put an aluminum rim in it you better run because it’s going to shatter. Do not try to crush an aluminum rim with a log splitter. Seriously it could kill you. The last thing I wanna do is lose one of my CZcams friends
@@ScrappingwithGrandpa I have never crushed a aluminum I only crush steel wheels that have tires on them I know what a aluminum rim will do they pop I just a call today my one of my shopping stores has ton of stuff by dumper I left my card in the work trailer window guy called there a pile of locker if u want u can have I’m idk there about 5 trips worth if I had a trailer like u have maybe even more there over 300 lockers and baking racks which is what I want I’m looking at a dump trailer as well
Did you see that size trailer that I sold Silver Scorpion I sold him a 7 x 22’ car hauler I almost didn’t say I sold it to him I gave it to him for dirt cheap. He’s my buddy that’s why. Yes it sounds like he definitely need a bigger trailer
Dang that circular saw as almost ran into the power cord 😅
I know right
Heck yeah buddy that was quick and can definitely tell the difference for sure buddy!! Great video!!
What type of sawsall blade was that?
Wood, cutting blade or bi metal
I thought I would just quickly slice some truck tyres on one side so I can easily remove them from around trees when they get big. Half an hour later, 2 cutting blades worn out on the grinder and I gave up on the second tyre. It is the trees problem now. I will try the reciprocal saw next time.
It’s tough cutting for sure. Get a metal cutting blade. That should work.
i seen they cut up the rubbers and color it for mulch for yards
That’s interesting
I don't take the tires off, my yard pays crap for aluminum
Dude I get $.90 a pound for rims
So Jimbo do you leave the tire on it and they’ll take it with the tire 🛞?
@@ScrappingwithGrandpa yes for 5$
@@ScrappingwithGrandpa only aluminum tho no steel
That’s crazy I can bring mine in and get $15.50 per tire. That’s without taking the Rubber Roof
Only works if you're scraping the rims. Cause you're going to wreck the bead on the rim.
True
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching my friend I appreciate you
He was able to cut down the tread a lot quicker than me!! Glad to know you too have free drop off access of tires!
Hello my friend. Thank you for watching. He is quick at 35 sec for sure. Scrap on my friend. I enjoy your videos
What kind of a place gives him free drop off for tires?
We have a recycle place near us and they take tires for free
Does this damage the rim?
Yes
But I have no use for the room. I’m turning it into Scrap Metal so it doesn’t matter.
My dad just uses the Sawzall and cuts the rim with Sawzall accept we try to stay away from doing it this way as our tire shop doesn't want cut tires like that. We do jackal jack jacking up trailer attached to truck with rubber under jack takes about 5 mins start to finish abd since the tires aren't cut the tire shop gives us 20$ for a pair of good tires abd we get in thier good graces abd they strip the steels we have for free
Wow. Interesting
@ScrappingwithGrandpa I don't know what blades you're using on your Sawzall but try the diablo steel demon 8TPI carbide tip blades thier expensive 20$ CAD but they zip through anything super quickly even High grade stainless
Nice, I like that tip . Thank you.
You still have to get rid of the rubber!
It’s free at my local county
never would have thought to remove a tire off a rim that way so cool I'll have to try it that way some time great video I learned alot
It is the Fastest Way, Chris. Quick money
@@ScrappingwithGrandpa I know
Chris you’re the best
@@ScrappingwithGrandpa no u are the best roofer scrapper and generous person u do amazing things
Thank you 🙏 Chris. Thank you
put a metal blade or i use a framing blade
on a old circler saw and it will run right threw that instead of the grinder
Will try that
Keep up the great work
Thank you love and I appreciate you stopping by always
Watch Scrap DR. They have a process that is pretty quick.
I’ll check them out for sure I think 35 seconds is pretty quick
@@ScrappingwithGrandpa There's is pretty quick to.
Next video we’re gonna shoot for 30 seconds
Helloooooooooooo Blake 😍
Blake is an awesome dude. I’m so glad I met him. Not to mention he pays me so much more on my excursion than I can get at the other place. I went to my shred metal place today Southern metal recycling in Wilmington. And the guy at the window has been watching my videos and he asked me who is this guy you’re bringing your non-ferrous metal to? I was like oh crap he watches my videos lol so I told him it was just an independent guy that kinda is a one-man team he pays me more so I have to give it to him
Use a guard on grinder
It has it
Where do you take your tires again? Where is Blake place of employment?
Where I live, they have a facility that you can bring tires to and it doesn’t cost you anything. You have to remove the rim and Blake works out of his fathers or parents property.
Is that Scarborough Maine? I’m from Biddeford Saco.
After cutting numerous tires with low quality disc, i will correct you in, that its not the metal in the tire that burns the disc, but as much its the rubber aswell..
True
@@ScrappingwithGrandpa could you possible link the blade for the reciprocating saw, that you recommend, because mine just dosnt cut it even thou its supposingly meant for the job. Snd yours look nothing like mine, so for easy translation in my danish hardware store, a link would be appreciated. ✌️✌️✌️
Because the blade you mention, is just mentioned by brand, and its hard to see the details of the blade.
#boom1st #WWWP
Thank you for stopping over Gulfcoast I need all the support I can get my brother.
how to damage a wheel to remove a tire, got it!!
The wheel is getting melted down into a aluminum bar. I don’t care about the rim.
Fkn legend!
Whatever works right whatever works. Thank you my friend.
You Win! This guy should be in the Tire Shop Olympics. I am experienced with those tools and tried it on three different tires. For me it took alot longer ..minutes. Honestly it was sketchy cutting that bead part. You really have to cut into that rim . He's done it alot and knows where to stand, hold, and sit on it. Wear gloves it you try.
That’s nothing my friend. He told me that he has gotten quicker at it. He is a Scrapper good friend of mine. I actually sell him some of my metal. When it comes to cutting tires off of rims oh my God we’re gonna do an update video on this first of the year. I hope you come back and watch it. We will show everything we use so other people can use the same tools and get the same results
Great. Ill take free advice anytime. I used what i had around. A used diamond blade and a wood with nails sawblade. It works! If you could mention prices and how long the blade last would be helpful. Cheers
Will do
This is ok if you don`t want to save the rim but even a little gouge will make the tire leak
Yes, and if you listen to the video, I told you that I am Matt Blakes the guy that buys scrap metal from me so the rim plan was to scrap it not to save it. Great comment. Stay blessed Scrapping With Grandpa watch next.
Diablo
Diablo is an amazing blade
Oh no don’t throw the sawzall.
I didn’t throw it but I did kinda drop it maybe a little hard frustrated
I spent 15 minutes trying to cut one tire off lol. I was sweating and wore out by the time I was done.
WOW... I guess you just have to be smarter than the tire :-) Great Video!
Sometimes that’s all it takes
And that’s not always easy LOL
I can cut em faster, grab your self one of them new metal cutting circular saw blades, 2 plunge cuts, 1 on either side right thru sidewall bead and rim. It works with regular wood blade but the rubber heats it up and warps the blade, the metal is easy to cut it's actually the rubber that causes all the heat and blade issues. Make your 2 cuts being sure you have gone thru ss bead and then just peel tire off done.
Nice. I like that idea. I’m not sure if you watched it to the end but at the end of the video we did the tire and 30 seconds.
How fast can you do this without ruining the rim...
We’re not trying to do it without ruining the realm I don’t care about the rim rim is Scrap Metal for me $.90 a pound
Takes less than 2 minutes to take a car tire off a rim with tire tools
Really
Yes, really. I have a video of a tire guy, breaking, remounting and remounting a 12 ply 16” trailer tire, in a parking lot, at night, all hand tools. . Just because you don’t know how does not mean others can’t.
When I said really, I didn’t mean it in a bad way. I meant it in a good way. What I meant was wow that’s impressive. I wish I could do that.
We’re cool!
Maybe change the title to a damaged rim or one you don't need. I was looking for a vid on how to remove a tire from a Porsche Carrera without damaging the precious costly rim.
At the very beginning of the video it does say my intentions are to scrap the rim. I understand what you’re saying and maybe you’re right I don’t want people thinking that I’m trying to save it and apparently some dude.
How much does he pay for aluminum rim?
90 cents a pound
@@ScrappingwithGrandpa I get 10 dollars a rim at mine called yesterday.....
Aluminum rims are some of the best aluminum you can get it is exclusion aluminum if the rim weighs 20 pounds I get $18 for it if it weighs 10 pounds I would get nine dollars for it. You are getting robbed do not sell your aluminum rims for $10 each. Ask them how much is Exmetal for per pound or aluminum rims per pound. You should get at least between 60 and $.90 per pound for excursion if the rim weighs 20 pounds at six cents excuse me $.60 a pound you should be at least getting $12.
You don't need to cut half way round the tire, just across, use a new angle grinder blade as that steel bead cable is way down there, watch for sparks and the sound once it pops.
Thank you. Do you have any videos on it???
Can you do it without damaging the rim?
Didn’t work for me
Really
The only other way is using old tire changer.
I don’t think even with a tire changer you can do it in 35 seconds. I take that back that would probably be the fastest way
@@ScrappingwithGrandpa I use a cheap Harbor Freight tyre changer. It takes more than 35 seconds but the process is cleaner and you don't use up blades or grinding wheels.
I want 1. That will save me money also
I think if you were removing tires from wheels all day an old tire machine would be in order.
Agreed
Selling wheels on marketplace for $25 each is much better than $10-12 each. If you have a full matching set of 4 $150-200 . But yes you need to be patient and wait when you go fishing for cash. Some folks don’t have the space to store while selling .
@@ScrappingwithGrandpa also selling wheels on marketplace is really good money. Easy sale $25-50 per wheel. Especially the turbine wheel shown in your video.
Interesting

I wasn’t trying to save the rim, so it seems like to me this works out best
No !
Shame about that tire - someone could have used it - why not invest in a tire machine and sell the used tires for 20 each like Pullapart does? Nice revenue stream.
True I could’ve done that and I actually do sell tires. I have four of them for sale now all we were doing that day at Scrapping. I want to do a video on how to take a tire off a rim

DON"T DO IT LIKE THIS! He damaged the rim beyond repair. You can't cut a slot in a rim and have it hold air ever again.. Stick with scrapping and not tire repair.
Hi Scrap, the rim I no longer wanted the rim. I picked it up in Scrap Metal I got $.90 a pound for the aluminum. I had no intentions of keeping the rim or putting it on another tire. It’s Scrap Metal only my friend no tire repair needed or rim repair for that matter.
