  • Have you been on the fence about the BMPCC6K Pro? Are you a faithful Canon user thinking about dipping their toe into the Blackmagic waters? I’ll be honest I am both a Canon and Blackmagic fanboy and In this video I break down my long-term experience using my Canon c200 Cinema Camera and how it compares directly to my new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro. The pro’s and con’s of each camera, which one I think is better and why and whether or not I need to keep both. It’s the ultimate showdown Blackmagic vs Canon, the Rebel Alliance vs the Evil Empire, corporate vs creative OR maybe just an excuse for me to do an epic Star Wars parody, I’ll let you decide!

      Thanks Brian, far too many hours spent on these vid's but very glad you appreciate them. As someone who's made the switch, I think unless you rely heavily on autofocus the workflow with the 6K pro and the image it produces are just too good. C200 is a great camera, still and has good resale value.

    This was AWESOME!! I love my c300 mark 1 had seen a price for c200(b) 70hrs 2500 and already had my eye on BMPCC6kpro but then was like WHAT DO I DO?! I feel an allegiance to Canon but I also work in Da vinci and the 6k pro just makes so much more sense. I needed this video ! And it was so creative and more entertaining than so many imfluencers out there. Thank you.

      Cheers Jon, I love my 6K pro, I think unless you heavily use auto focus there's a lot of benefits to the 6K. I do miss the C200 pre-amps, I don't miss the 8bit codecs and I do love B-raw.

    As a new 6K Pro owner, I endorse this video! 😁
    Also, I recently made a sequence about making espresso, and can I just say: total respect to anyone like you who can put together a feature. What a nightmare that short sequence was. Just sweeping up ground coffee constantly... and I still managed to leave the dish sponge in half the shots. I'm just playing with toys, but this stuff is hard.
    Anyway, good stuff. I only own one camera but I know where to send people who come asking for advice.

    • @thesavagefilmmaker
      @thesavagefilmmaker  Před 2 lety

      Thanks Rob! Yes putting together a feature film is insanely hard, but you're not alone with the dish sponge, there's a tissue lying next to my head in the opening sequence of this video when I'm on the ground that should absolutely not be there. We all fall victim to leaving something behind in frame.

    • @thesavagefilmmaker
      @thesavagefilmmaker  Před 2 lety +1

      If you already have MFT lenses, this is a great starting point and the Pocket 4K offers great value, however I would recommend getting a speedbooster as soon as possible and upgrading to at least one EF mount lens when you can, for the best results. • @naormeningher
    @naormeningher Před rokem

    great video. You ignored several key features that make the c200 win in my opinion:
    1. c200 has 10 stops of ND, BM only 6, which is not enough in most daylight situations.
    2. Battery on c200 lasts forever. In BM it's horrendous.
    3. c200 has XLR inputs
    4. c200 has a bigger sensor
    5. c200 UI is way more convenient with buttons.

    • @thesavagefilmmaker
      @thesavagefilmmaker  Před rokem +1

      Disagree with UI, Blackmagic UI is the easiest most straight forward and quickest to use via on-screen menu, you can jump around settings much quicker than Canon even with it's extra buttons.
      I've ran 6K in broad daylight for many shoots and never needed more ND.
      Pocket 6K has mini XLR inputs, which are no different than XLR you just use a Mini XLR to XLR cable instead of XLR to XLR cables.
      C200 may have a bigger sensor, but it doesn't film 6K and if you don't shoot Raw the codec is much worse. If you shoot in Raw it's great but much bigger and more limited in options than Blackmagics B-raw settings. Also much harder on computers.
      I think c200 is a great camera, but it doesn't seem great after using a Pocket 6k Pro and comparing the image I get out of that.
      Totally agree on the battery life, 6K battery life sucks, c200 is great.

    Love this, I've been wanting the BMPCC for several months now (I don't have the funds currently ha), so as soon as I can, I will get it! Have you ever thought about making a video as to how to get clients, obviously things like put yourself out there and talk to everyone are common examples youtubers say. But I don't often find myself at many events where people are actively searching for someone to film them you know? haha. So i was just curious how you physically came across some of your first clients to get the ball rolling!

    • @thesavagefilmmaker
      @thesavagefilmmaker  Před 2 lety +1

      Great question and tricky topic, it’s very difficult and everyone has a different path to getting their first clients I’ll have a think about this. I’m sure I could cover this in short form.
