Hey, outstanding video, thanks a lot!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks a ton for your video! Just managed to swap batteries right before I lost the light of day.
As a tip for other people, opening the air filter box right in front of the battery gives easier access to the bolt holding the battery down at it's base.
Glad to hear that you found it useful! Thank your for sharing the tip!
wish I had of read comments before changing the battery. I’ll know for next time! thanks!
Thanks for the help! I'm sure I could have guessed my way through the whole process, but I'm so inept at cars that I'm positive this vid saved me both time and stress. I'm glad I decided to watch your vid first.

There is wire connected to Negative terminal , go down inside car (not ground) , can anyone tell me what’s their name and their purpose ?
It's probably negatives from electronics being grounded that way. It's normal.
Great video. Used exact tools you showed however I would recommend that people could probably use a 10 mil socket the smaller nuts as there is a slight risk of rounding the bolt off if it's a bit stubborn or whatever because you've got to come in at an angle so you don't get really good surface grab with just the open end wrench. Anyway do appreciate the video thank you
Thank you for your feedback. Glad you found the video helpful 🙂
10mil worked for me. ty
i have to replace a 2011 elantra battery today, is it a h5? i can’t find a answer anywhere, it looks the the one that came out of the car is taller and not as square as most battery
It is a H5. You may also can check it yourself. www.battfinder.com/

Thank you!
I'm glad you show a socket wrench to take out the bolt because I thought you'd only have to use a bolt/socket drill and I don't own one of those. Nice detailed and informative video!!

Tengo esa misma bateria en 2020 y mi elantra es 2012. Funciona impecable aún.
Me alegra saber que el video te resultó útil
Very straight forward explanation. However, the positive terminal on my car battery is on there so tight, it doesn't want to come off. I need to remove it without breaking it. Advice, please.
This is what I would try. I would make certain that I have loosened the nut for the positive terminal. The 10mm nut. Now there shouldn't anything holding the positive terminal wire to the battery post. I would grab a plier and use that to grab the battery wire and use that to wiggle it left and right. That will be break any moisture, rust anything that is causing it to be stuck on. Once you do that it should come loose. It may take a couple minutes of wiggling with the pliers but it will come loose. Just be sure that the negative terminal wire is disconnected and safely out of the way before you do this, to avoid any accidental contact.
@@VirarAutomotive It did loosen so I could wiggle it but strangely, it couldn't be removed from the post. I will try again. Thanks for the advice!
@@autryldHow’d you get it off?
@@VirarAutomotiveWhat’s the battery wire? The wires on the left at the bottom that go into the box?
Good idea to get a battery brush to clean the area where the cable attaches to the post. Otherwise, great video.
Good tip!
Thanks bro
You are welcome. Glad you hear that you found the video useful :)
on the positive you have to remove 2 nuts or only 1?
Just the 1 nut, as I show in the video here.
thank you, i successfully changed my battery and didnt explode!
Glad to hear that!
Thank you
Glad I could help!
Thank you for the video! I have a question. I did this but now my car still won’t start. The power can soft start my car (radio, interior lights, air conditioning, etc) but the engine just shakes instead of starting. Do you have any idea what it could be? Going to have it towed but wanted to ask first.
It could be the starter, or it could be a bad crankshaft position sensor or a fuel delivery issue or an ignition issue. Can't say for sure without having looked at the car. Sorry.
HELP!! Negative terminal is stuck onto battery and won’t budge at all
I can’t even wiggle it.
Help!!!
Did you loosen the nut enough? The nut that secures the negative terminal on the battery? I'd suggest you check that once. Then if you some plastic pliers, or any plastic tool, then you can try using that to pry the terminal off.
@@VirarAutomotive I removed both screws but that nut won’t budge at all. I spread WD-40 onto it but it’s still not budging!
Aah. I am sorry to hear that. I can't think of anything else. :(
Question. I was opening fuse box and one of my clamps broke off and now that broken clamp is underneath the plastic battery tray 2:05, should I take off battery and the tray and remove that plastic clamp?
It's not really a concern since it's just a plastic piece that has gotten stuck there underneath the plastic battery tray. it would probably just stay wedged in there. If you are concerned about it and have some time on your hands doesn't hurt to take the battery and battery tray off and remove the broken plastic clamp
@@VirarAutomotive ok, thank you for your response. When I have time I’ll just remove the battery and a tray, so I don’t have to think about it.
Makes sense. Good luck!
Hi ... I have the same car. but my address is very inaccurate straight. you have to correct a lot to go straight. Do you have the same problem?
Sorry I don't quite understand the problem. Do you mean the steering is very inaccurate?
@@VirarAutomotive yes
Sounds like an alignment issue. Which may be being caused by faulty suspension or bad tires. I would suggest getting the suspension and alignment checked by a mechanic shop.
Thanks
Glad you found it useful!
I replaced my battery a couple of days ago. It would not start so I tap the positive terminal and it started. Yesterday and today; it has the car just went dead and I had to tap the positive terminal box on both times before it power came.
Do you know what is under the positive terminal that could causing this?
Is there any corrosion there? Can you check that the positive terminal wire is pushed in all the way on the positive terminal on the battery ? And then tightened properly ? Sounds like a connection issue due to rust or loose contact.
@@VirarAutomotive Thanks. There was a loose connection that needed to be tightened on the positive terminal.
Glad to hear that you found the issue!
I just had to change my battery and all went smooth and I started the car it ran for maybe 30 seconds and shut off then wouldn’t start. Tried about 5 minutes later and it started and ran just fine. Has this ever happened or could this have something to do with the remote starter I installed a few months ago?
This has never happened to me. Does not sound like an issue with the battery. Its a new battery and it started twice. It sounds like an issue with the wiring of the remote starter or the starter itself. When the car did start, did it fire up right away or was the starter struggling to start the engine?
@@VirarAutomotive The old battery was about dead today. I could only get some clicks out of it. New battery and it fired right up like it normally would then stalled. After that it cranked but wouldn’t start. Ran a scan for codes and got nothing. Then I tried again and it started right up again and I let it run for a good 10 minutes and still seems fine. I’m guessing maybe the module for the remote start had to reset or something then because it’s never given me trouble
Sounds like you are on the right path. The remote starter module maybe the first one to check out.
What the battery type is that? Is it H5 the group.
Yes. it is the H5 Battery group.

What type of battery would I need to buy to replace this one?
H5 battery..Walmart has a great deal on it for $120 USD. Check out the link. m.battfinder.com/Automotive

You are very welcome!
@@VirarAutomotive Guess it is Group 48/H6 Battery in Hyundai Elantra Limited GDI 2.0L
I'd suggest checking it here. m.battfinder.com/Automotive
can someone help me with the name of the battery (Hyundai Elantra 2013 Petrol)
The battery size is H5. You can use any brand battery as long it is the H5 size battery and has cold cranking amps (CCA) of around 650A.
My positive terminal wont come off at all like it is stuck to something please help!
It's probably just siezed on. Make sure the positive terminal bolt is loose. And then wiggle it patiently for a couple minutes. It should come off.
@@VirarAutomotiveIt won’t come off, what should I do? Wiggling it, pulling, rocking the whole car will not get it off.
Sorry. I can't think of anything else. :(
@@VirarAutomotive I had to unhook the wires to remove the battery so I could stick a flathead in between the battery and terminal box and it popped right off. I couldn’t get the screwdriver in that spot with it in the car. It was really stuck on there and idk why because it came off quite easily after that.
What size battery?
www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart-Maxx-Lead-Acid-Automotive-Battery-Group-Size-H5-12-Volt-650-CCA/20531541
I had an auto zone employee tell me they couldn’t replace it and told me I had to take it to a mechanic due to the high voltage or some shit like that and the car had to be connected to a power source in order to swap it and connect it to some kind of memory stick. Judging by this video and the others like it that seems to be untrue.
That is such a sham. You can follow along as in this video and you will be fine. In some cars after batteries are replaced, the transmission control unit has to relearn how/when to shift and adopts to your driving pattern. So maybe for the 1 hour or so after replacing the battery, the transmission shifts may seem a bit off, but that is just the transmission control unit learning and adapting to your driving style. In some cars (older Hondas) the radio resets and locks when then the battery is replaced and then you have to punch in a code to unlock it. But that's about it. The whole connecting to a power source/memory stick prevents this as the computers memory isn't lost due to loss of battery power. Hopefully this helps.
@@VirarAutomotive thank you for the reply. That is extremely helpful!
That's the exact reason I'm watching this video! Scammy dealership.
How do you jump start the car? My positive cables are unable to connect to the positive terminal.
Just jump starting won't work. You will need the positive terminal to be connected to the positive cables for the cad to continue running.
You put the same battery back in.Very very odd
Just kidding, excellent video showing process AND tools required,THANKS.
Haha. Glad you found the video helpful!
He didn't actually change the battery I think
Yeah I didn't. Change the battery. I did this video for demonstration to help folks who are doing the replacement themselves. I took the battery out and then installed the same one back. Is there a concern with that?
