just fyi to all, the newer i30 model has a air intake duct that blocks the +ve bracket. so you will need to unplug the duct first before you can push the dismounted bracket aside. i am a newbie and i was following this video too! thanks, ray, for your video. you made it look so easy.

for those living in the States, i30 is what they call Elantra overseas.

THANK YOU! I just did this, by myself, at 12:30 am because I drive rideshare and I don't have time to lose money. I followed you word for word. Now I have new tools too! Lol

Thank you very much for this video. I just changed my battery thanks to your video here. The only different thing I did was since I didnt have an extension for the wrench, I lifted up the air cleaner, then could reach the hold down bolt without any wrench extension. Thanks for the video!

GREAT video, thanks for the socket sizes and quick explanation. Also super helpful to know that the car might not idle right 2 or 3 times after the battery swap.

Thanks! I used this video as a reference to change the battery in my 2013 Elantra!

  • @thewaltbrownellchannel9318

Thanks for uploading this video! Here's another tip: You don't need to completely remove the battery hold down bolt, just back it off till there is a few threads left. This will save you from having to find the hole again, or worse, dropping the bolt into some unreachable nook and cranny. 👍

Thank you for this video! My vehicle is a 2014 Kia Forte, but it has the same setup as the Elantra (as far as the battery is concerned anyway.) I was going to have my car towed to my mechanic - frozen/dead battery - this video of yours saved me a lot of time and money, didn't think it would be so easy.

Everything worked great except on our '14 Elantra the battery holddown bolt was a 12mm, not a 13mm.

You can always learn something new no matter how much you know. I did not know about the car needing to be driven and restarted a few times to get the battery used to the voltages.

I bought the H5 at first but found it was smaller then the one that came with the car as shown here. The 2014 Elantra takes a H6.
