    Literally the same failure on my car. Steering angle sensor in the clockspring assembly failed.
    Brought it to the known good dealership in the area and they replaced it.
    Not a cheap part this is when you buy new they charged ~300€ for it + installation and the necessary programming/calibration. Total bill came to just under 600€ with tax included.
    I would not have been able to buy a new sensor for a cheaper price and I simply did not feel like taking the gamble of getting a used sensor and setting up VIDA and trying to do the software bit myself.
    So paying the pros was worth it to me 😅

    It's t25 torx for the airbag removal.
    I just tried to replace the clockspring and they've sent me the wrong part. 🙄
    Thanks for the video, though. 👍🏻

    I have an xc60 from 2013. The horn does not work, nor do the steering wheel controls, radio or cruise control, they do not light up either. It also throws a steering angle error. Is it possible that the fault is the clock spring? Or does this model not have it? I haven't found much information. If anyone could give me some advice I would greatly appreciate it. kind regards

    Can I just not fix that?
    It looks hard and expensive. Does my car gonna have further problems if dont fix that?
    Thanks

    You need Vida to calibrate the Steering angle sensor As it Probaly works but you are going to need to calibrate it for it to work and get rid of Anti skid temporarily Off i hope this helps

      The message did go but it does come back from time to time. I don't have access to VIDA, if it were a permanent fault wouldn't it be there all the time?

      You Don't have to register to Vida I just got a Vida dice on eBay and I just downloaded Vida on a Windows 7 PC And with Internet Explorer 9 I Got it downloaded and I installed a 2030 Patch and I installed that then Vida was up and Running and the Username is Admin if you type that you can use Vida unregistered And you ask it to read the vehicle And then you click on diagnostics and you go to vehicle communications and you go to BCM And you click on the advanced tab and you can Recalibrate the Steering angle sensor but before you hit calibrate You turn the steering wheel at least 15 Degrees to the left and right then you centre the wheel then you press calibrate And you can calibrate the rest of the sensors and on my V70 I also turned off the daytime running lights on my V70 I went to the CEM and I went to programed values and I went to daytime run light but if you don't find it in programed values you go to advanced and you go to program Control module and you click on daytime running lights witch is number 2 and I changed the setting from Flexnol to flexstd and that makes it so you can turn off the headlights completely Witch includes Side lights and Dipped headlight And also on my V70 I also Changed my clock from 24 Hour to 12 hour and I changed the outside temperature from Celsius to faranhight And to change that you go to Dim and you go to Programming The driver information Module And on older Volvo's you click on it and you hit information but on later Volvo's it will open as a window but I think on your 54 Reg Volvo it will open by clicking Description/information at the bottom of the screen and you get the option to change the service intervals and change the outside temperature from Celsius to faranhight and you also get the option to change the Clock from 24 Hour to 12 hour And if you want to Read fault codes in the module,s you go to Fault trace In The Diagnostic tab And you click on delivery and you can read Fault codes and at the bottom of the page you can erase faults or read Fault if you had cleared the fault and you want to see what comes back But Vida is very helpful Take care

    Is the clock universal? Will an s60 unit work on an xc90? Thanks

      @IAMASPANNER  Před rokem +1

      As far as I’m aware, yes. My friend fitted one from an XC90 on his V70 recently and it cured the problem.

      The rain sensor is attached to the windscreen on the donor car so there wasn't a way to transfer it across really.

    It's ridiculous people have to replace such important parts, these shoud last 2 million km atleast. Manufacturer should completely do this!
