I keep hearing people say "it didnt work out for him at Arsenal" but rarely does he get the praise for what he did for Arsenal. He brought Saliba in, he was the one who integrated Saka, Martinelli and Smithe Rowe from Academy into the first team. Saka specifically credits Emery with his career. So not only is he absolutely crushing it at Villa, but he's also the reason Arsenal are as competitive as they are.

      Hallelujah. Someone that knows.
I'm sick of typing the same sort of comment you have here.
Europa league final with that squad was an achievement. Players let him down on the day. Prima Dona players like Aubemayang making his job hard and the club toxic.
Entitled fans who wanted him sacked after 1 loss and insisted on keeping Aubemayang and paying him whatever he liked when he was so bad for the club.
Horrible Media who basically trolled him, in part simply because he was polite.
Many other factors but I'm preaching to the choir here. You understand football.

@@smichaelb1980 The club (and this isn't only an Arsenal problem) allowed the ogotistical players run "roughshod" by it being obvious that it would be the manager to take the rap.
A lot is made of transfers in but just as important is a manager being able to get rid of players who he doesn't want - especially when they are negative influences off the pitch.
When Arteta came in, he was backed to be able to get rid of the dead wood that had basically gotten Unai saked. He also benefited from having young players that Unai had brought through and taken the time to develop.
That's not a slant at Arteta. I rate him highly and had predicted him to be a good manager before even starting.
Take the time to envisage the 2 managers rotated in their respective periods in the club. The conclusion is surely that Arteta is saked as Unai was, given it was the dynamics of the club itself at the time that was the burden.
I don't know if Arteta would have brought through the younger players. I don't think Saliba gets signed but Unai being able to walk into a club that backs their manager and get rid of the problem players and offers bigger budgets for incomings sees him doing as well with Arsenal as he is now at Villa.
Assuming you're an Arsenal fan, this isn't a case of Claret tinted glasses, it's more a typical case of Araenal fans not being able to be grateful for anything outside of a title challenge no matter the hurdles in the way.
Arteta was a great manager before Arsenal and has been One since. The variable in the equation is Arsenal Football Club itself.

I think the game changer or X factor this season is Leon bailey playing well and stepping up his game. The last three games Leon bailey was key in getting Villa over line. Yes all the Villa players contributed but Villa look so much more threatening with Bailey driving through the middle or down the line.

Right, there's one thing that nobody is really making enough of here. Yes they talk of humbling City and getting 3 points off Arsenal, but for Villa fans, December was by FAR the most difficult month because of the DENSITY of games as well as the CALIBRE of opponents.
5 games in 13 days including Spurs, Man City, Arsenal, and a vital European game against the one team that beat us in Europe already and top of the group at the time. We won them all by the way. Then we've got the final Euro group stage for top spot in a couple of days, then two games in five days plus Man Utd on Boxing day. 5 games in 16 days over Christmas.

Whats the main difference? Simple...belief! Same players under Gerrard hadnt got a clue in what Gerrard was doing, didnt believe in him or the system, if there was one. Unai is a master tactician, a chess player of the football pitch, someone to whole heartily believe in. If he told his player the sky was green they'd 100% believe go wirh him on it. True respect from the players, owners and supporters, thats the least this football giant deserves. UTV.

Villa & Newcastle cannot just go & buy really expensive ready made players, although both clubs owners have the money. The problem is that the FFP rules are tied to a clubs revenue,Villa & Newcastle had simaler revenues in the last set of accounts, approximately 215 million for each of these 2 clubs. The clubs that have been consistent over the last 10-20 years like Chelsea, arsenal, Spurs.etc. have double these yearly revenues,so have to work smarter too have any chance of catching up on the so called big 6?. Lol...The FFP rules must be adjusted to a layered system based on the different yearly incomes of each club & to be given more leeway over a certain period of time for clubs with smaller revenues,in order to allow these clubs to catch up & to be able to compete. The current rules just protect the so called big 6? Lol. That's why the current rules are a farce & stink! EPL is a monopoly & a closed shop as it stands..... up the mighty Villa!!!!

Newcastles revenues will dwarf Villa's in the next set of accounts due to a lot of dodgey deals. Saudi government owned companies will be their shirt sponsors, and other type of sponsorships all related to the Saudia Arabia will be hugely inflated. Then you have the £50mill just by being in the Champions league, and the New kit deal.
Villa struggle to get £5mill shirt sponsor and Kit Sponsors. Big clubs are getting £50 million for the kit and another £50 for the sponsor.
