It would have. For instance, Niles not wanting to be outpaced by his brother hiring his own butler and a competition would ensue between the two brothers to prove who has the best butler... I'm not sure whom would ve the be st butter for Niles... Can't think of a present day British actor who would be perfect for that role...

He could have fooled me with his British accent.
Then again, I'm not an expert on British accents and certainly not enough to tell Jane Leaves' accent is not from Ma chestier... I know enough to tell her brother Simon's, played by Anthony LaPaglia is as Australian as can be...
But Victor Garber pulled it off very convincingly...

Something about the way furguson described Niles willing to break rank and him being the voice of reason for Daphne when he kept breaking their dates, would imply he was the one who didn't want to cross that line, almost as if his love interest was willing to do so.

In the new 2023 Frasier, Ferguson would have made a FANTASTIC addition to the cast! I mean, after all, Frasier is now Uber-rich (after having his own nationally syndicated talk show on TV for 14 years), so why would he not have that butler he always dreamed of?? Perhaps things didn't work out so well with Lady Westerfield after he renewed their acquaintance. Meanwhile, it's these great secondary characters from the original show who I think could really help make the reboot. Ferguson, Gil Chesterfield, Bulldog, Noel, Kenny, Bebe (the agent...AND the actress Bebe Neuwirth, of course), and even Rodney Banks (the Niles doppelgänger). Oh, and what about Lana Gardner (formerly Lorna Lindley)? Jean Smart was HILARIOUS!! Also, wouldn't it be funny if her idiot son, Kirby, somehow ended up at Harvard and became a professor of American History? So much wasted potential!!

Because of this episode, & thinking back to my childhood, after reading my Summer Novels, I got this notion of having a Butler for one year's time. I live alone with my 2 Pitties, & Cat. I'm NOT married, or even have a girlfriend... In my Home, I even have a "Morning Room" where I keep my personal library, small sofa, & my piano: A mahogany red, baby grand piano. Because of Frasier, I took it as far as to wear a Changing Jacket in the Mornings, & a Smoking Jacket for night as I hit the blunt, & cup of coffee/cream, & Rum. He was a man, aged 67 from London, England. I changed his name to Wilson. "Sir Wilson" His meals, his respect, his friendship, his mannerisms. He would accompany me to Mexico as different escorts paid me a visit. I even got him laid. SMDH, my pets adored him, my daughter loved him. She couldn't believe it! "Dad, you've lost your damn mind! A Butler Dad? Who has a Butler these days???" & I responded: "Your Dad, & especially your 1st boyfriend, ME!" My beautiful daughter @age 4.5 "Daddy, R U my boyfriend? Yes U R Daddy, you're a boy, & you're my friend, that makes U my boyfriend." Wilson was so much fun, he'd even roll my blunts. I have guy friends that all play a musical instrument. They come on over, we all smoke a lil weEd, & jam out. I'm on my piano. Wilson was there, hooking all of us up, drinks, & weEd. He cost me: $95,000. Don't believe me? Google me: Santiago Murillo-Tucson. & U'll know why I could afford Sir Wilson. The year was 2015.

Mel forces Niles to cancel his plans with Daphnie to continue their pretend ‘happy marriage’ front. Niles snaps and publicly tells everyone their marriage is a sham and he loves daphnie.
For reasons I’ve never quite understood this reflects badly on Frasier and he does not get his seat on the Opera Board.
