BNC#6: Frans Cronje Q&A - Embracing SA's inevitable coalition future

  • During his Q&A session at BNC#6 in Hermanus, Frans Cronje discussed the shifting landscape of South African politics, emphasising the inevitability of coalition governance. He highlighted the decline of ANC dominance, suggesting a future where no single party holds executive control. Cronje underscored the importance of private actors navigating this transition for societal progress. Despite concerns, he believes in the resilience of institutions against worst-case scenarios, advocating for policies fostering economic growth and certainty to unlock business investment.

      It's possible, and it's horrible.
Especially as Frans says, polling numbers can change VERY quickly.
Even then, those megalomaniacs will probably not be capable of working together (think back to the EFF recently blocking the latest attempt by the ANC at EWC.)
Frans's thesis is that the ANC EFF coalition would destroy each other. He mentions it here, but went into more detail a while back.

Many of the changes are already taking place. The Government is becoming more and more of a non-entity, and the man/woman in the street is putting their heads down and doing their jobs and looking after their families. Ramaphosa has for some time time been a non-entity. He and his cadres might still be looting and pilfering, but seems to have less and less of an effect on the population.

Remember; Dr Verwoerd said that South Africa's future is not decided within the country but by international forces.
The question is which international think tank or lobby group as a shield to a foreign government(s) pull the strings and pay-off or buy politicians and voters.
Is America and its Allies or Russia and China or India going to have the deciding and winning hand in this election.
Whatever happen the international powers will make it difficult for us as South Africans if either or any of the powers backed the loosing horse.

Im no expert but I think the lost ANC support reflected in the polling is simply the proportion of the population who think like the breakaway far left faction in the ANC, rather than disaffected moderate supporters. ANC 42% + MK (ex ANC) 13% = 55% (close to what the ANC achieved in the 2019 election).....Im not convinced the political system works as he says.

I'm afraid that I am finding Frans Cronje and many other top political analysts in the country rather annoying. Firstly, the laid-back and almost ultra-calm approach exhibited by them borders on absurd, because the picture facing South Africa is a dystopian one. Anyone who doesn't live in a fantasy bubble just has to travel around urban areas, and one will see the hopelessness of many people on the streets, who are jobless and hungry and desperate. It is soul-destroying to see. There is dysfunctionality just about everywhere, and this extends into the private sector too now. Even companies that we expect far higher standards from are showing their blatant inefficiency and mismanagement. Most of us in the middle class know of many people including family and friends who have emigrated overseas, taking with them their skills and wealth. Coalition governments are not silver linings at all, unless the coalition partners all have strong similar values and respect agreements. All we see is much back-stabbing and bickering between coalition partners. Lastly, and this is the most depressing aspect of all, I see many people who should display common sense by fully supporting the Democratic Alliance (DA)100%, beating up on the only party worth defending in South Africa under this toxic climate. The DA is the only party to truly embrace diversity and non-racialism, whereas all the other parties are fully aware of their main identities. For example, the Freedom Front Plus is focused on the Afrikaner identity and the Afrikaans language and culture. Other examples include: the ACDP and its Christian identity, which is averse to LGBT+ people's rights (not to mention that their are many different religions in the country), the Patriotic Alliance concentrating on the Coloured vote, both Inkatha and MK focused on the Zulu identity, and the EFF making no apologies for their devotion to black people's rights above anything else. It is crystal clear to anybody with a shred of sense, that the Democratic Alliance is the only political party that is truly inclusive of just about everybody, and has the most sensible outlook for the country. However, it gets very little credit for the good things it has achieved in the Western Cape and elsewhere. The chattering classes would rather beat up on the DA, but make no mistake, if the DA were to vanish overnight, South Africa would become a hellhole!

Frans had a sober grip on realities until three or four years ago (check out "Every South African Needs To Watch This" on CZcams), when he suddenly changed his tune and was talking as recently as last about how the opposition parties were going to come to South Africa's rescue ("Optimistic that SA economy is on brink of post-ANC rejuvenation" on YT), and now he's saying that South Africans should learn to live with a bunch of socialists in charge and state-proof ourselves in enclaves and they can live great lives.
      He's a joke.

South Africa is not a country or a nation! It has never been!
South Africa's 12 ethnic nations have been forcefully united in 1909 by Britain after they subjected the 2 Afrikaner republics (ZAR, OFS) as result of the Anglo - Boer war, which they waged in order to controll the vast gold reserves.
The prevailing ethnic and social diversity need to be accommodated in a new federal system with local 'buy in' where every nation must 'feel' in charge of their own destiny.
Governance must be decentralized to local communities in order to cater for diverse needs and cultural values.
The alternative will be civil war between ethnic groups.
A canton system will probably be best to reduce ethnic friction.
Additional to government decentralization, SA needs to 'demonitize' politics to contain the current destructive political rivalry because the costs, monetary and politically, for taxpayers, is untenable.
Replace 90% of the overpaid, (unskilled) politicians with apolitical, skilled administrators.
When the government size is reduced by 50%, then corruption will by default be reduced accordingly.
