- The Royal Regiment of Scotland march into Peterhead on Saturday 11th May 2024 ready to be granted the Freedom of Aberdeenshire. The parade is led by 4 SCOTS Pipes and Drums , followed by the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, the regimental mascot Corporal Cruachan IV, regimental marching troops and Colour Party, with the band playing "Cock o' the North".
The official Freedom was conferred on the regiment by the Provost of Aberdeenshire, Cllr Judy Whyte outside Buchan House on St Peter St, in the centre of Peterhead.
Corporal Cruachan IV, is a Shetland pony and took up his role as Regimental mascot in October 2012, and is cared for by Pony Major Cpl Stewart. The Royal Regiment of Scotland is the senior and only Scottish line infantry regiment of the British Army Infantry. It consists of three regular (formerly five) and two reserve battalions, plus an incremental company.
