Great tips as always. The thing I would mention is don't go too big with your screen. I went to 17" thinking that it would be better, but it just makes it impossible to use as a laptop. That and the battery life of a gaming Laptop really just makes it a desktop with built in keyboard, trackpad and screen! Some really good ideas in this one. Cheers

I need a new laptop and my primary use at the moment, aside from Excel and the usual stuff, is Lightroom Classic and some Photoshop. I’ve also started dabbling with video editing and I want to start exploring Ps more and also Power BI (for work). I think I know what I need but don’t want to leave myself short on spec or go overboard! Noisy fans seem to be an issue in some models I’ve seen reviews for!

Question for you, if you could give a personal opinion on. 3d modeling, photo editing, video editing laptop w/pen input, although have a 7950x 4080 desktop, I have a 2022 asus flow x16 ryzen 3060 used for $1300, and a 2023 flow x16 i9 4070 w/mini led for $2800. Have both, using both, still in return window for a week. 2023 is faster overall, similar battery, screen is wow, 2022 does everything i need it to, lag while flipping through photos in lightroom or modelling . I use laptop 50/50 desktop, I could live with the 2022 lag for the $1500 saved, which is like half the 2023 price. Or should i just keep the 2023, enjoy the faster performance, quicker feel, at double the cost, perhaps future proofing? Price for either isnt going to kill me, though spending half/$1300 is definilty a perk. Love the x16, keeps up and does everything i want/need it to do. Already have 2xwd 850x 4tb nvme and 64gb ran kit for them.
I'm just torn between the two, and though perhaps you could throw some quick input or suggestion. You review alot alot of laptops, would be nice to get a different perspective.

I talk price and features when discussing buying a computer for someone
What's your budget. Which locks them into a specific performance category
Then what features must you have. Size of the screen. mouse, keyboard, touchscreen, gaming, 3d modeling, video editing.
once that's establishing. I start narrowing it down to a couple of models then it just comes down to looks and price.
Throwing numbers around for cpu memory and resolution and what not, most people look at you like What?
Price range is the best indicator of what to get. Need something with a GPU, $1500 laptop. Need something for office work. $600 to $800. Need something to access the internet. Your phone a tablet or a chrome book.

My default for cozy is 3000K. I find 2000-2700K way too yellow in a sickly jaundiced sort of way. I would only use 2000-2700K sparingly - such as in accent/ambient lighting applications like an LED light strip. 3000K OTH gives you enough of a hint of that elegant golden glow without looking like hepatitis threw up all over your house.

It didn't work with my old laser printer or my webcam so I put it aside. Recently I came back to it and the OS is improving, more things just work on it. Ergonomics barely considers keyboard layout. One of the top tips should be kb layout unless you're already into macs.
Keyboard layout is essential if you're going to be writting a lot. Consider if a keypad is important as well for those spreadsheet enthusiasts or devs who hate pressing a modifier key to enter a series of numbers and floats.
Id also avoid any gaming laptop unless you have a well ventilated space to have it rest on and a wall plug nearby. In most cases a small form factor tower will be cheaper in the long run as you can also upgrade it or more easilly resell it. Easier to service too.
The Usb-C requirement is ... meh... support of all modern features is so flaky on older aystems, unless you specifically want usb-c charging or video out then don't mind this too much. Second hand laptops without it can perform better compared to newer low end models. It's all over the place and it's best to ask around before commiting to the purchase.

I'm a corporate slave doing mainly spreadsheets, finance admin work. My choice of OS is windows because it needs to be able to communicate with outdated scanners/printers/peripherals at work, and 16:10 aspect ratio because I run Excel everyday. For the amount of data and excels that I need to open (ordering goods, checking books) specs above entry level is required so the spreadsheets don't freeze, i5 minimum. RAM size wise I've been able to get by with 8Gb but maybe 16Gb would be faster? I'm looking into buying a Dell XPS 13 9315 because of the portability and what I've heard about battery life. Surfave laptop go doesn't seem so value-for-money, Asus S13 Oled is too expensive, Dell XPS so far seems like a good compromise. I'm on the fence because of the lack of HDMI and USB port but USB-C charging is a Yay. Would appreciate any input from those who have it already... thanks! Or maybe if there are other better recommendations, weight and size is really really important to me so I don't consider any options heavier than 1.2kg 😅

It depends. I love Macs so much, and was kind of saving up to buy one for my PhD research and thesis stuff, but then I researched a bit and found out that majority of the softwares I need to run for data handling on my projects don't even work on MacOS or Macs. That was a bummer at first, but now I can buy a good enough Windows machine for a lot cheaper lol which will do my job! I WILL own a Mac one day though (unless it is actually useless for me).

For the tight budget, I would suggest to go with regular windows laptop and then install a Linux OS on it instead of going with Chromebooks, infact Chromebook is a locked Unix OS from Google. So why go for a locked Linux system with only Chrome Web and Android Apps when you can have a open freedom of installing any Linux OS and open source software's with tons of options in both with way better performance and also have an option to install anytime a lightweight custom Windows ISO if needed.

kindly suggest me few Laptops for Digital Marketing/ e-commerce.
    TASKS mainly; Multitasking.
browsing multiple tabs, data analytics, client's zoom meetings, light (cutting, trimming, basic effects) to modertae (multiple effects, color grading) video editing [not professional or high end editing: like Higher color grading, applying heavy effects, and rendering high-resolution videos] and Multimedia use in general.
PREFERENCE: Durability, speed, Smooth performance without any type of lagging (performance slight higher than mentioned above), Good display (higer than 1080 with 400+ nits), longer battery, less bezels, decent sleek design.
i5/i7 10th or + gens (kindly specify the model number), 16gb RAM minimum DDR4, SSD storage.
I hope u understood the requirements +/- in general.

A used 2015 MacBook Pro can be a great alternative to a Chromebook. It will be way more powerful with better specs and have better software, along with that legendary build quality. A 13 inch model is around 200 bucks!

I just annihilated my wallet few days ago, went for razer blade 16 4090, with hope that it will provide more than enough power for the next 3 to 6 years and maybe even 10 years if it doesn't break. (I travel a lot which is why I didn't go with desktop).
My first laptop doesn't have a dedicated GPU it last me about 4 years, then I upgraded to omen 15 1650TI and it is about 3 or 4 years old now, but now is finally the time to get another new laptop that can last even longer now... I hope...
