I was 18 when I watched this match live. People often comments about how great Messi and Cristiano are but they should see this man before the injuries struck. He did not get enough protection from referees. Not only in this game but in the previous round of that world cup against Denmark he suffered some ugly tackle.One from Brian Laudrup I still remember. After 98 WC till 02 WC he played only 52 club games because of the injury yet came back and had his redemption.If the injuries did not affected him he would be named the greatest off all without any doubt. The mistake people make about France 98 is the assumption that Zidane was a star. Ronaldo, on the other hand, was already a well known superstar *BEFORE* said tournament thanks to his exploits at Inter Milan.
