One of the most magnificent individual performances in the history of the World Cup. Zidane did not lost the ball to the brazilians one single time. A genius.

I didn't like seeing Ronaldo and Zidane laughing and joking together during this match. It's the World Cup! You need the eye of the tiger. For me, it marked the end of Brazilian dominance at the World Cup. They had won the previous World Cup in 2002, but they haven't won it since. They don't have the hunger. Too much dancing and not enough anger. You have to play like an absolute mad man to win a competition like this. Nobody ever won anything by laughing and joking and dancing. You can pinpoint the decline in Brazilian seleçao to this exact match. Pelé and Jairzinho and all those legends would have never behaved like this. And f**k Zidane. You're supposed to be Brazilian.

In this match when i see fans try to compare Zidan to Ronaldinho they seem to forget the whole French team accepted Zidan was their leader... the full backs, midfield, Ribery and Malouda they all play around Zidan.. you can even even see him instructing the French players and they don't have a problem with it
Compare with the mess that Ronaldinho had with Brazil... do you think Cafu R.carlos Kaka Zeroberto were willing to do the same for Ronaldinho. And fans still blame Dinho.
That was the same Ronaldinho who had saved Brazil in the 2002wc they also witnessed what Dinho was doing with Barcelona in laliga and UCL... that same season Dinho received a standing ovation at the Bernabeu and R.carlos witnessed it all...then in the UCL when Barca faced Milan it was Dinhos pass that knocked Milan out and Kaka and Cafu were playing for Milan.
They never gave Ronaldinho the respect he deserved like the French players gave to Zidan.
Zizou had the support of his team... Makelele vieira Sagnol Abidal they all play around zidan.

@@nicogarcia1894 you clearly are not familiar with the 98 squad. This is a non-argument. And even if it was the case, what does age have to do with any of this? Abidal, Vieira, Henry, Sagnol, Gallas, Diarra, Toulalan all in their peak. Youth power with Ribery and Malouda. Thuram, Zidane, Wiltord and Makelele past their prime but still world class. Important players like Petit, Lizarazu, Blanc, Karembeu, Djorkaeff, Desailly, Deshamps, Dugarry, Silvestre, Lebouef and so on are no longer part of the team or are reserves. Trezeguet and Anelka were never big stars for their national team. I'm sorry if I seem mad or something like that, it is not the case, but what yoh said is just not true. People tend to treat France's 2006 national team as weak and aging, when in fact there was a great mix of experience and phisicallity, specially in the midfield.

@@YOUENNNN i dont agree. I mean, to be clear: zizou was one of the greatest, fullstop. Was amazing to see even just for his elegance. But. In this highligts is doing really nothing special: the major part of what he did was keeping The Ball (with elegance, ok) and making a simple pass. He did one assist on set piece and thats all the game change he did. Then OF COURSE, when a great player does something normal is anyway nicer to see. But i will not put this match into his best (and im italian, ive seen him in Juventus many years. He played much better in many other matches). I have seen in slow replay what he does at 4:44. Here you can barely realize how amazing is what he did (that's what is Zidane all about, making amazing things look simple in the flow of the game). While he puts the ball up, he actually uses the bottom of this foot to control the ball as it goes down...but the ball just stopped right under his foot, it does not even do a bounce, Zidane litteraly asked the ball to just stand below his foot after he trowed it high...and the Ball said, OK you are Zidane, I will obey. Pure magic! If you have the occasion to watch this on slow motion from a close angle, it is worth it.
