i dont mind looking slightly annoyed at all times, it actually makes me feel oddly regal haha
😂✅
“We are not amused!”
itcan certainly be beneficial to look "stern"
Same. More cred at work 😂
Why bother coming, take your frown some place else...annoying 😊
I really like how this man's tone of voice and cadence in how he speaks is calm enough to be nonthreatening and relax me, but not so much that his voice is boring and make me want to fall asleep.
I would thoroughly enjoy having a longer conversation with him.
And thank you for this content. I just turned 40 and my lips have started doing this. It's very annoying because I'm a very happy person and sometimes people think I'm upset.
I wonder how much this 'grouchy look' aging effect influences a strained marriage?
Where, due to lack of practiced diligent indepth sincere communication conversations, each spouse assumes a negative attitude in each other purely based on their aging appearance.
I remember the beginnings of downward spiral conversations (that sadly, ultimately ended up with my ex succumbing to an affair and abandoning our marriage):
"What's wrong?" 😬
"nothing. Nothing is wrong."🤨
"Then why do you look so 'angry'? What did I do to you?"🥺
"I'm nOT "angry!!! Sheesh, just leave me alone"😠
...all because we could no longer "read" each other's faces. And had lost communication and trust.
I think it's very important for husbands to _ongoing_ compliment their wife's inner beauty and his attraction and love for her based on how he 'sees' her, with all the appreciation of the remembered beauty of her youth, and the new 'growing old gracefully together' beauty she is transitioning into. And _his_ appreciation of her love and respect for all her husband's practical sacrifices to provide for her over the years, and willingness to love _him_ as he is aging too.
I'm thinking it would be better to not focus on striving to stay looking 'young', but to embrace the "growing old gracefully" stage of life together with acceptance, appreciation, and love.
I’m 54. I really have no wrinkles but my mouth has turned down very noticeably. I’m constantly being asked what is upsetting me. It does get annoying.
Thanks for showing before and after pictures without makeup. One can definitely see how the client's face improved after you corrected her previous lip lift surgery.
Great job Dr. Linkov!
Added little observation: Bridget Bardot had downturned lips and was so beautiful.
Thanks for this. I only have one prominent wrinkle, & that’s along the jaw, but for over 60 years my downturned lips have bothered me… but not near as much as the men who tell me to “smile”.
@@sunshine3914 how annoying to be told that all of the time. People have said that to me, I just look them in the eyes and say no.
@@sunshine3914yeah, I really wonder how often this “problem” is based on women just being expected to smile even when there’s nothing particular to smile about
@@sunshine3914 Thank you. I don't even have a downturned lips, but random strange men walking past me telling me to smile would drive me crazy! I guess the nice thing about aging, you are not harassed anymore.
I find it annoying to have this issue. My lips just started doing this and people think I'm upset.
Side note: the lighting and video quality in your video is great.
We can't all be beautiful lol so we have to develop a great personality to actually succeed in life. Nothing wrong with that!
I hear that!😂
I got the bell-shaped effect, and I hated it SO MUCH. I got a bit dysmorphic and depressed from it. I spoke to surgeons to correct it, but they did not recommend further surgery (probably because of my mental health, and I understand that). I still don't like my mouth, I still regret the lip lift, but I understand that the people who loved me when I had a 2.3mm philtrum, still love me with a bit of a downturned mouth. As to whether I love me, yeah, mostly I do. I still have my dysmorphic days, but it's usually related to other stressors in my life.
I think I could have done the self work at the beginning and saved the tears and money!
You live, and you learn :)
I feel the same way with my procedures but still want more to correct
Your fix for the bell effect patient was perfect.👏🏻
What a pleasant voice you have and such correct, clear pronunciation, it’s just a pleasure to listen to you !
Thanks Dr Gary,this was fantastic,so informative 😊
Very informative. Thank you.
Dr Gary!!! Please do a plastic surgery analysis of Demi Moore! Thank you!!! Love your channel and content
And Priscilla Presley.
Gosh she has had so many procedures!
your skin looks great Doc
Yes, please show us your routine
So informative!
I appreciate the detailed explsnation and considerations
I have always had a resting frown since young. Like another viewer said, " i don't mind because it looks a bit regal." I really thought this video was going to show facial exercises that reduce the friwnie look! Silly me!
same😊
Wonderful information, thank you!
Glad I found you. Honest advice
Dr. Linkov, I see a bit of a five o clock shadow and nice brows! Congrats looking good!!
Eat well, exercise and focus on enjoying your life and you will feel and look great. Congratulations Doc Gary for growing your hair back, thanks for your excellent help.
Oh my gosh I've been wondering this lately. Thank you!!
I have a natural bs detector (my downturned mouth) 😂 I was born like this! Lol
It looks beautiful on some people
Me too!
Thanks Gary. Would you consider doing a video on where you place lip filler? I remember you commenting on a past video you don't tend to fill some of the commonly filled places (unless I have misunderstood), but you didn't elaborate on it. It would be great to have to some guidance for when getting filler on what is best practice. Thanks again.
😊 love your channel you’re so smart and talented my profe you did an amazing wonderful work performance 😊she looks wonderful
I love him , hes so good
it is not always about age. I have always had it.
Me too.
Thank you, dr., for the technical approach of this subject. I always learn a lot watching your videos! Best regards from Brazil!
Hi Doctor Gary, does The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum For Hair Density effective for male pattern baldness? 😊
You look better. Keep it up 👍👍👍
You are fascinating to listen to, Doctor, and I learn a lot. Your befores and afters are amazing.
I’ve had a down turned mouth since childhood…Always called miserable and sulky. 60 now and it’s still the same…very depressing cos now apparently it’s my resting biatch face…🥺
I used a dental device called Oralift. Worked very well. No more frown and less laugh lines without any procedures.
Sure love you and your videos!❤ from Alaska
I do wonder if exercises for the face, like holding a half smile whenever possible, can help strengthen the muscle that makes your corners lifted? IDK about the anatomy obviously lol. I did notice that for the last 8 years or so I was hating my eyebrows because they were very straight and low set. I made it a point to isolate the muscles that raise only the outer corners of my brows and now, all this time later, my face kinda tends to reset that way with the outer brows lifted a lot. Facial yoga? IDK what do you think, Dr?
There's not enough evidence to show it works, and there's still a potential for it to cause wrinkles. I did it for a long time and nothing changed.
I was doing the same with my brows, and now I have horizontal wrinkles on my forehead in places of the muscle which was lifting my outer corners of eyebrows. I'm 28. I also have one horizontal wrinkle on my whole forehead, so maybe that's how my face ages 🤔🤷🏼♀️
@@arcaseidax I'm 38, I don't have any dynamic lines but I think it's genetic
I'm not a doctor but logically speaking facial yoga is actually the opposite of getting Botox. Why would you move your mouth or eyes and this way deepen your wrinkles that actually partly come from muscle movement? I personally think facial yoga is fraud but facial massages could theoretically work I guess. There are lots of Asian influencers that promote facial yoga but it's their genetics not yoga that keeps them young. Hope I helped you with your doubts!
Look up Danielle Collins…she’s a facial yoga teacher.
The non-surgical invasive procedures sound quite scary. Thanks for explaining the various options. I think micro needling would be the most I will do.
Doctor what about the use of mouth guards. I use an OC mouth guard and I think it has made my mouth more downturned.
Oh my, I had never heard of the corner lip lift until now. I have been eager for a lip lift, but I have feared that it would give me a mild inverted smile. The corner lip lift could fix that. I am going to see my plastic surgeon right away!
Hi Dr. Gary - I love your podcast so much! Can you please bring your wife Liz on again? Today’s show was so relevant to me, my students ask me why I’m mad and I tell them my face is just that way 😜
Hey Sister! Me too! 🙃
What about infrared light.
Dr Gary, you have such a soothing voice! My question-what is a vertical face=lift?
Uber expensive!
indeed Sandra!@@sandrafranks1854
If someone has used liquid minoxidil and finasteride for 7 years and they want to get a transplant do they continue using minoxidil afterwards ?
Botox in my DAO muscles makes me feel so much better about myself 🥰
Targeted massage can do the job too. Gives instant results and is free. Try it next time 👍
I get Botox in my DAO too. I am not sure how much of a difference it has made on my resting face, but it has really helped my self esteem. I love the feeling of the Botox working in the DAO too
I really want those little lines at the side of my lips to be upturned! In my 40s I am noticing them more. A very informative video, thank you! ❤👄
I’m curious, do men get this procedure? It’s never occurred to me (as a guy) to be worried about whether I look like I’m frowning, but I know a lot of women are told by random strangers to smile as if it’s not okay for them to go about life with a neutral or even sour face.
That's a great question, now I'm curious
Interesting question. Generally, even though it's been changing, women do have more pressure to get procedures done. I think most men are oblivious to their "flaws", while women get random comments all the time that can even contradict themselves. I think it's sometimes strange how I get told something is wrong with me, while the guy isn't perfect either (which is normal ...). But yeah, big difference between genders when it comes to surgery and I think men get other types of procedures done than women.
I'm 31 years old, and my marionette lines have become more pronounced these past couple of years. I was considering laser resurfacing. Thank you for your input on these treatments.
Looking at your picture, you are very beautiful, and I'll bet you are over focussing on that area of your face.
If you choose to do something, start minimally invasive. In my experience, avoid filler. I'm 57, and I swear every bit of filler I put in my face is still there and has moved south. I feel I look a bit puffy and heavy in the face. And at my age, dissolving it is not recommended. Honestly I didn't start doing stuff to my face until I was 43. I still get told I look 10 years younger than my peers. But, my sister and my non-beauty 'obsessed' peers are heaps happier than I am :)
Still, if you must proceed ... At your age, fraxel may be OK but in my personal experience it does no more than micro needling at 0.5mm every 2 to 3 months. Get a powered pen style needler (not a manual roller) and do it yourself as that saves $$. Put the savings in your 401k (superannuation)... Also, go NO DEEPER than 0.5mm or 0.75mm if you must.
The micro edema alone will plump out your skin and smooth out the totally normal contours of your face, such minor "marionette lines" which really are were a facial ligament is which you see when under certain light.look at a baby's face and you'll see them!
Is it ok to get a Botox lip flip and Botox to the DAO at the same time?
I have dimples in the DAO/DLI area. I've also have a downturned mouth. Always have. A guy once told me smile more, I'll have less frown lines. If I wasn't angry before. I was after that remark.
Sounds like the muscles around your mouth are too stiff and drags the corners down. Try massage to losen them up. It is a great alternative to botox and works for me every time
@DrGary I need a lip flip and dental. Why because my area between my nose and lip now covers my teeth! I had a beautiful smile and in 3-4 years it’s changed and I constantly bite my lip when eating. Do you think insurance would help me? If not how can I fix this ?
Are there face muscle exercises that one can do to tighten and tone an aging face?
My natural lips look not that great and the upper lip is bigger than the other one and goes outwards and down. So I just move my lower lip out and hold my upper lip in with the lower lip to make my lips look how I like them!
Hello Dr Linkov,
Do you Direct LL I’m in need of one the area to nose and upper lip area looks elongated and makes me look older.
I’ve been puffing out my cheeks whenever I think about it to try to change my resting face position. Will that help with the nasolabial folds and down-turned mouth?
My family all have this problem. I remember being g a young girl and people always asking what was up with me
Do face yoga/face exercises (it really does work, but you have to be consistent).
You’re welcome.
❤
I had one strong smoker's line and many shallow ones, so I had my derm (Sadra Jazayeri, md) fill them in when I got my first lip injections at about 48. He is a magician and made them all disappear! Im not big into cosmetic procedures, but I'm so glad i had him do them. It's nearly 10 years later, and they never came back. I guess the filler just spread through the area and smothed it all. If you can find a doctor as skilled - or you live nearby - I can't recommend it enough. Keep in mind that Dr Jaz won't create anything unnatural, like big lips. Thats not his style. His specialty is refreshing or subtly tweaking what God gave you, not playing Dr Frankenstein.
The frowny mouth and droopy corners are ageing. I would find it helpful seeing before and after pictures using fillers in that area.
I am really sorry for my dumb question, but are there any vegan\vegetarian ways to substitude collagen supplements for our bodies?Tnx ahead and really greateful for all info that u give)
There are supplements for it. Just google it. There's a lot to try.
Yes. There are plenty of vegan collagen products, both supplements and topical products. Just google them.
If you do a lip lift, won't the bullhorn scar be pulled down as the person ages and the filtrum skin sags? 😮
I have drooping lower eyelids and I’m finally looking to get them fixed. I’m concerned that my ethnicity is kept however, I’ve never really seen how my eyes should look being an Afro-Asiano-European. Who would be the bus specialist to perform a complex surgery (in respect of keeping my eyes ethnic)?
They way your eyes look now is the way they should look
How do you know where to start with plastic surgery? My skin is just starting to show signs of aging: fine lines, laxity, slight discoloration. I feel pretty confident in my daily routine to care for my skin but am considering “more.” Where to start?
Have you tried doing targeted massage? Or microcurrent? Or infra red light? I recommend watching Christine Byer here on youtube for that kind of stuff
@@papyrus88 thanks
Will neurotoxin injections of the DAO muscles worsen jowl formation?
don'T forget scaring from face lift - actually from any procedure, there will be scars and just a feeling that the scars are bigger than they appear as you just "feel" the pull or the changes.
Dr, you don't mention aquamid, great filler that goes sub-dermal and perfect to upturn mouth corners. And it's permanent so you save money not going back. I used sculptura, radiesse, Restylane and Juvederm prior to aquamid and they would all only last 3-6 months tops
I guess I am stuck with looking sad.😊
Does singing in a choir or playing an instrument like the trumpet delay the aging process of facial muscles?
Yes! Because you will be happier and you bring joy to people around you, so they will always feel positivity when they look at your face.❤
As someone who has played wind instruments my whole life, they definitely changd your face shape!
Any thoughts on radiesse?
Hello, could you do a video on Emily Blunt perhaps?
what is wrong with aging natural?
Neck lift. Nothing else works for marionettes. I tried it all. Sick of doctors saying cheek fillers helps.
Have you tried targeted massage?
@@papyrus88 if filler and botox does not work, why 0n earth would you think a massage would?
Okay, my mouth has always turned down, my mom's is like that too, now that I'm older they're still down turned, but that's how they've always been
Love yourself just the way you are. Allow people to know and love the authentic you. This way you will not only be ageless, you will be immortal in their souls. Be the authentic you because no amount of correction can define you... Be Blessed.
I'm working on it! I'm not there yet, but I'm working on it. ❤
He forgot massage! I have fixed this issue by doing massage on the muscles that drags the corners down. I have found that vacuum massage (with my own cheap silicon vacuum cups) gives the best results. Only one session of 15 min per corner is enough to get longlasting results - and its free!
Hello where did you purchase such cups??
Pero la cicatriz?
Can you do a video on jack harlow next? He definitely got a chin implant but says it’s just his beard
He reminds me of Billy Corgan
The way he said saggy necks sent me 😂
I wonder why the importance of facial muscles, that of their tension or atrophy with aging are not mentioned by plastic surgeons…
For example,If it’s advisable to use Botox, it means there is much muscle tension and we can get rid of it by special massage techniques…
Black skin have phenol peel chemical?
If u needed plastic surgery i would pay you as a consultant before i get your recommendation for an American plastic surgery
I think I would greatly benefit from a chemical peel I'm just very scared.
The lips lift looks like a permanent face of disgust.... not all the time. And maybe you'll need some additional tweaks done to achieve that lightly lifted nasal frown of disgust. It's a bit sad actually in my opinion. Looks like deep plane face-lift and fillers is the best combination.
Like your take on the combination of lip lift first and corner, after. I would love to be able to afford you. Travel from Norway. Surgery. Stay.
Nah. No man will be let close to my face with a scalpel, but you.
So gracefully it is
Love your content❤
Since you don't do these procedures anymore, this great info is not useful. Without finding a surgeon as skilled as you, learning all this is fruitless. My biggest need is to get a provider near me. Impossible w/o a list from you. I live in Louisiana.
By smiling! AND it’s free!🤣
We can’t walk around with smiles frozen 24/7 😀
Lip lift gives you a horse mouth...everytime you smile, the middle of the upper lip lifts too high and out, like a horse mouth does.
RA - 10
My corners are down on my baby pic. 😮
Gravity and bone loss is the cause in my case. At 48 I’m accepting that!
good on you!
So higher metabolism = shorter Botox? Like if you run ultramarathons for example then your Botox would last way less time?
Had botox and it hit wrong muscle ...was a nitemare
I'm so sorry! I can't imagine how scary.
He's a plastic surgeon - of course he encourages all surgery methods! $$$
Kylie Jenner in the thumbnail for "better lips"?? Lmfao no way. If we're going for a good lip before and after, gimme teen Megan Fox vs. 2007 Megan Fox 😍. THAT woman had perfectly enhanced lips, not bloated sausages like Kylie.
Oil pulling is not only good for mouth health, but the swishing exercise is very good for the face. Too, the oil nourishes the facial skin from the inside out. It won’t solve every problem, but it rejuvenated my face - and teeth - to a great extent. (I do it 5-7 days a week)
This all sounds so painful!
World-renowned makeup expert Lisa Eldridge has a great video on her channel about how to easily correct downturned lip corners with a little makeup. Cheap, safe, effective. Can't ask for more
I think the shortened Phil trim makes them nose look longer…then, when. Smiling, the patient looks as if the end of their nose is covering their front teeth! SO unappealing!!!
❤
What about the loss of vertical dimension by tooth wear aor loss as a factor ?
OR just don't get old........
Any NATURAL remedies - hope - ok.
