- A video to show how to remove and refit a BMW Mini Footwell module for repair, and also how to reset / re-calibrate the electric windows!
This was after a battery change on our vehicle, and the indicators and electric windows stopped working.
BMW wanted Over £350 for this job, however with a few tools and a £30 ebay FWM reset we again have a working car!
Its a very simple job for anyone to do at home!!!!
The only real tool you need is a 10mm deep socket, and maybe a flat screwdriver :) - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Thanks for this. My "local" MINI dealer (2.5 hours away) wants to charge ME $180usd to diagnose this. I asked if it was something I could check before I drove all the way out and got the run around about how they really need to be the one to verify it for the recall (obviously)! Obviously they have to look at it but I'm not about to take a day or two off of work unless I know for sure that I'm coming home with a fixed car! I'll check this myself and maybe even just get it fixed myself if it will be less than $180!
Hi :) Ive been looking online, why are some places chatging hundreds to get this all done?
Profit I guess 😂. Costs about £35 and half hour of your own time
I shall give it a go, cheers
Do you have to use the code reader? Stupid me only watched this video half way before I sent it off. Now my part has returned and I don’t have a code reader 🙃
Thank you for the video by the way! Very helpful 😊
We were just told by the guy who reflashed ours that it was critical we removed all the codes before replacing the module. You may get away without, but the last thing you probably want to have to do is send it off again 😂
Mini issued a recall on them now
Only within certain years, most aren’t being recalled hence why we did ours
Just had this happen to my Mini 😭😭😭.... Do you have the link for the eBay user you used please 👍
Just jump on eBay and look for FWM module repair, then cheapest first. It was such a long time ago I did this myself
@@rustypaint Found one on eBay at a garage only 40 mins away , removed module drove to garage... Was only there 5 mins( thought to myself have I been scammed) drove back home , refitted module and bingo 😁😁 all working 👍👍 best £32 I've ever spent.... Thanks for the detailed video as wouldn't have had a clue otherwise 👍👍👍
Glad you got it sorted bud!! Bargain at £32 too!
Its ridiculous this happens, such bad design
Definitely!
@@rustypaint Yet it happens on Jags not to mention a lot of other car using the same/similar MCU
The fact people jump cars/let the battery go flat should be designed in? lol It is within reason
