You are a legend
great video, thank you.
Orange programmer works good
â€
Great video thank you! Do these modules ever fail completely or are they generally just needing a reprogram?
What ends up happening most of the time is the battery drops in voltage, which corrupts the files in the module. The easiest way to check if the problem is corrupted files is to hook up a scan tool and see if there is communication with the module or not. If there is communication with the module, then the problem is something else.
Can it be fixed? Or replace is needed? If so how much does that cost approximately? I have a 2011 mini base hardtop, 59 k miles no accidents one owner. And all of the sudden no windows, direction lights, emergency lights, brakes light on, check engine light on, AC blowing just like fan (when I put the AC to the max I can hear a noise (normal noise but stronger on the front(assuming is the compressor working) when I tune it off the noise stops (itâs not a strong noise ) Iâm scared of taking it to the Mecanic and be told to change things that are not related. Already changed the battery, starter and the problem persist
Come on you can make more videos!!
Thanks for showing us how to repair the footwell module. Can you add in the description what items you're using? I know you're using Autel Key XP400 PRO but what program and cable you're using and possible the links where you got them. Thank you.
No problem, if you mean the cable attachement to the autel xp400 pro it comes with the tool and it is labeled APA109 and for the support you can download it directly from autel website or using this link download1.auteltech.net/Download/PCSuite/PCProgrammer/V2.80/Setup.exe .
@@Zetartech1 Thanks for the information.
@@Zetartech1 does it come with the firmware preinstalled in the machine when you purchase it? I'm being told it's a separate, yearly service you must pay for..
@@JohnProffer That is correct. There is the initial purchase price for the machine, and then annually you have to pay something like $350.
I need your help with this, where are you located?
Just a note they have a recall on these modules just released 2007 to 2017 Recall Campaign No. 23V-337: Footwell Control Module (FRM)
Yeah but they donât have a fix yet so they arenât replacing them. At least not at my mini dealer they arenât. Itâs frustrating cuz I essentially have a car that I canât drive because of this.
oh i see, glad to know !
I am in the same boat mine is also dead.

So I got my frm fixed at ecu pros I intend to put in a claim with bmw but I did get some info they said to install it with the battery already connected to keep it from power spikes. Keeping that in mind it would make sense that if you need to replace the battery you should disconnect the frm first replace the battery then reconnect the frm.

Also, it is VIN specific per the NHTSA. My car is affected (2010 S HT) and because my VIN isnât in the select group, I am SOL. Sucks.
Nice video! Can launch xprog3 do this work?
unfortunately i don't own a xprog3 so no clue
Hello, What is the name of the program you are using to repair the Foot Module? I use a similar one, I just want to make sure it's the same software. Loved the video, very informative.
i am using autel programmer with XP400 pro tool. if you have the tool then from autel you find the software from their website
would this issue, allow the car to turn over(crank), but not start?
Nope, the car will work and drive, but the windows and lights will not work or may not work in the correct order. I had a customer drive the car to my store with the module out of the car even.
Where can I buy that tools?
Autel website or amazon
