Thank you. This will work for me! Funny how a simple idea can make ones work run so smooth. It doesn't have to be as difficult and dangerous as I was imagining in my head :-) Appreciate this!
I love this method! What a great idea to save time, and also a way to work on something on the days you're feeling uninspired...just mix up the oils to prepare for the day you're ready to make soap. Thank you!
Thanks for the tutorial on master batching. Excellently done and easy to follow. Thanks also for all the soaping tips. 😊
I never thought about preping this way! This is really good if you have your go-to recipe and want to focus on design and color. Thank you for sharing!
That's a great idea it will save me tons of time THANKS!!
Thank you. That is very helpful
Thank you for explaining how to master batch. You made it easy for me to understand. 😘
Thanks so much. Implemented master batching today. This was perfect. Six batches ready to go
Thank you for the great ideas, and container suggestions! I've been enjoying making smaller batches lot late, but they're a little less word than a bigger batch...but using the master batch with your favourite recipe makes things faster, and neater...
Thank you for sharing this. I was doing this with my lye but didn't realize I could do it with the oil.
This was really helpful and l love that you use affordable containers! I'm going to try this for sure!
love your videos very detailed
Thank you so much for this video. I just made two loafs today and told my husband, I should mix a couple of batches of oil ahead of time. So I was very surprised to see this video in my feed right after I said that. Thanks again this video is a great help. 😉
Those are the same products I use....they are great! Also, there are smaller ziploc containers for smaller batches. I use those for 2 lb batches. They are great and love the fact they have screw tops instead of pull off lids.
That was so helpful - thank you very much
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have always been under the impression that you had to have your ingredients around 100 degrees in order for it to come to trace spot properly
This is perfect!!! Looks like a stop at Walmart is on my radar!
Amazing! So needed this! Thank you for sharing!
I prepped using this method and I’m SO excited! Thanks again!!!
When I get my garage cleaned out and a counter and cabinets set up I will do this, but for right now the only thing I am ‘batching’ is my lye solution the night before. Just doing that has saved me so much time.
Thank you so much
Thanks very informative
Very helpful thanks
Brilliant
What a lesson thank you so much. After watching this I think I'm ready to move on from MP to CP. So glad I saw this from 2017! Thanks!!💞💥💥💥💥💥💖
Helped show me I'm doing it correctly. May need to get the e-book on concentrated lye solution but still a bit nervous about a math mistake, lol. Thank you for the video!
thank you so much
Thanks for sharing
Yep way to go!.😊 Iris
Good idea
YES more videos like this. I have been wanting to see this done for awhile. Very easy to understand in this video!
thanks
I have been doing this for a few years..I make large batches each in my 3 stock pots...I then measured out my lye also in 3 bowls and cover them . I don;t mix mine till I'm ready as I make goatmilk soap and I have tried mixing ahead but it gets thick. It makes life so much easier. Thank you for explaining in plain english as so many others talk % and I just don't get it. :)
Thanks for sharing :-)
This is a great video! I have a question. Where do you store the oils and how long do they last?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and tips. I guess these Rubbermaid containers are more difficult to find in 2022. I finally found them at Dollar General (what a misnomer), and the Ziplock ones on Amazon. This will save all that dishwashing and (sometimes; okay most times) the mess up, THEN the 2 hr. clean up. 😞 I love your multiple batch tip 🙂!
so nice to follow in metric🇱🇺🇱🇺👍i go to a day centre cuz i am♿and prepare all in plastic cokebottles and alsothe lye prepared in small zipbag so when i get there just ready to run btw i cannot download your batch pdf sorry i really like your vids so clear👍
I came across your video today. Thank you so much for the information. I do have a question....how long can you let sit the lye solution in containers before using them? Thank you
Hi your video is very helpful, how long can I store the oil and the lye mix for
....and then my entire life was simplified.... I will definitely be masterbatching my oils. However, I won’t be masterbatching my lye bc I hardly ever use water, I always use beer, milk, heavy cream, aloe, etc... I know about the 50/50 rule but I’ll just measure out my lye... but my soaping Time was just cut in HALF... thank you Amanda!!!!
Oh Wow! You don't use water. Can you tell me more about the beer, milk etc? That's and awesome idea
@@pamelawalker8815 interested also about not using water.
Are the Ziploc containers able to withstand hot lye or do you measure out your lye into the containers once it's mixed and cool?
Thanks for the video, question: the lye and oils can be room temperature? I thought the lye had to be hot and the oils too?
I wish I’d seen this before I bought bowls!
clear soap base banane ka measurement bataiye
What size (cups) are the Rubbermaid and Ziploc containers you used in this video, please?
Hello, this is a great idea. Can't believe it took till now to stumble upon this video. Talk about making life easy!!!! I do have a question though.....you took your oils/butters and X times 5 which I was right with you. Got that but when you did the water and lye, you lost me. How come you only X'd it by 2??? If I took the water of 342 grams and lye of 124.61 grams and weighted each container to have 342 water and then mix 124.61(or close to) of lye would that be okay for each batch because you lost me when you did X 2.......lol
How long can you store your lye batches before you have to use it?
How long can you store the jails and lye solution
How long can you keep them
HI Amanda very good demonstration. I'll try it one day. Can u kindly tell me the name of the boxes that u use from papermart and the cans. Thank u.
I'm so sorry. I typed under the wrong video.
Do you warm your oils and lye water when you are ready to use it?
Is it the lye that make the soap base harden
how long can the lye store in the containers?
This will keep me busy I need to stay busy I get bored fast.
How long can v store these?? Specially d lye solution??
I'm interested in the answer, too.
How long can you keep the lye before using it and the same for the oils?
1 week max
Ive stored my oils and lye like this for a month at a time. 👍👌
How long can the lye solution be left in the container?
In a decent plastic container you should be able to store the lye for months/years. In my chemistry labs they store concentrated sodium hydroxide solution (which is what lye is made of) in plastic tubs with a plastic tab for dispensing
How long will this lye solution keep before making soap?
Jean I keep it for a week not more
They last indefinitely. It's just lye water. It's not going to change or become something else. I make five tons of soap each year, and I don't 50/50 batch. I do the full ratio and store it in HDPE plastic cat litter jugs (cleaned very thoroughly). Our batches are around 25 pounds each (four logs), which comes to 64 bars. On nice days I'll make a couple extra batches of lye water, then store it for rainy, sleety or snowy days, or when it's 20 below zero (or if I'm just lazy or in a hurry). I've stored lye batches for weeks and it works just fine.
Hey, do you have to reheat oil before you make soap
Only if your solid oils harden (they probably wont)
Yes. Unless you heat transfer
Why shouldn't you make your lye solution in glass?
Two questions. 1) Will the coconut oil and shea butter resolidify? 2) How long can you keep premixed lye solution?
Yes they will turn back solid. And to answer your second question - you asked this question 2 months ago which is about the time I premixed my lye. I am still using that lye.
iwannaapple - Uh...this IS my question from two months ago.
@@LadyGecko
I guess I am a day late and a dollar short and you now know the answer. I just thought it was a good question and other people might want to know the answer. Oh yeah, you asked how long can you keep premixed. My premix is older then your question so that might be your answer.
Hi, Do you have a link to where to buy the container's you use in this tutorial? they are just what I need. I like in the UK.thanks
Hello! I buy them at Walmart usually... These are the ones for lye - they come in difference sizes. www.amazon.com/Ziploc-Twist-Medium-Round-Containers/dp/B007J46WRU/ref=sr_1_7_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1534553554&sr=8-7&keywords=ziploc+twist&dpID=51WGOxKHIWL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
The containers for oils are Rubbermaid Takealongs... I can't find online but they are in lots of stores...
You may get containers from Asda .
You said not to make lye solution in glass, companies that sell the lye say use heat resistant glass or plastic. Why do you not suggest using glass. I am new to soap making and went with the recommended glass, a coffee pot, heat resistant enough for coffee, would you say this is not safe for making lye solution? I’m not being snarking, I’m trying to learn.
I have always made sodium hydroxide solutions (lye) in glassware in chemistry labs. With proper glassware (ie. no cracks), mixing lye in glass should never be an issue
why do you not mix lye in glass container?
Because the sodium hydroxide solution can shoot up to over 200 degrees F (93C), and glass can shatter.
It will etch the glass
This info is awesome. TYTYTYTY
Oh wow, I didn't know that you're not supposed to mix lye in glass containers. I've been specifically using my pyrex containers to mix my lye 😥 -- On her website she says that the lye can etch and shatter glass.
Mixing lye in glass should not be an issue provided you have proper glassware, always make sure there's no cracks. Invest in some lab grade beakers if you're worried (shouldn't be too expensive if you find the right source). I would prefer to use a pyrex jug over some plastics as not all plastics are designed to handle heat

this was the first place I had heard this as well Melessa. But I'm glad I'm not learning this the hard way
It won't always break the glass, maybe only 1 in 10 or even 100 times. But that one time will be very unpleasant. Best to avoid the issue completely.

I use canning jars...
This Master Batching looks so laboursome. Why don’t you pour the calculated oils into a 1 Gallon container and pour out what you need for your recipe when ready for your one loaf. And pour all the Lye solutions calculated and mixed up into another Gallon? Then pour out what you need when ready for that loaf. So much repetition here, containers, and clean up! I’m sure there are ways to be even more efficient than this .... four years on! Thanks anyway.
thank you for coming back to "them" inSTEAD OF 'UM"
"times?" how about an adult speedh of multiplied by..?
