  • The apps are fighting back! Many drivers are noticing the way these apps are moving differently, and I think I have an idea of why: policy changes in the FTC and with the protections we have with the Sherman Antitrust Act.

    I got deactivated weeks ago. My client base has grown so fast that I dont even have time to do lyft either. I'm literally going from one customer to the next. I start at 0430 and by 10am I've made my money for the day but I still gotta go pick them up and take them home from work. I need to hire another driver but I'm gonna need ideas on that one

      @@thedemocratnetwork I use HUM for commercial insurance, so it's really my private rides that are holding me up. HUM (for the pings that come thru) I usually let those go to the drivers who are new to HUM and don't have as many private clients (or conversions) as some of us do. We have to spread the money around to keep HUM lucrative. For me, having commercial insurance at $1/day is perfect, because I can close $200/day doing 4 to 6 private rides using HUM.
      We all use HUM for something different. That's the versatility of it. It's nothing like Uber or Lyft, which is why so many drivers are gonna EXPLODE when this app hits their region! It's FREEDOM!

    since the apps do not have any section to Negotiate a contract nor to Set Your Rates, then you're being misclassified as an independent contractor and are entitled to the rights and benefits of an Employee
    all uber/lyft contracts are non-negotiable and "take it or leave it".
    the driver must still be able to negotiate at some point, such as cancelling the contract and discussing it with the rider directly. in this case its not poaching, its offering a competing service.

The TOS of these apps is clearly out of line, which is why attorneys in multiple states are ripping it apart with cases left and right. Some of these drivers on CZcams think they're smarter than attorneys, sitting on comment threads talking about, "...Uber aint doint nothing wrong. Ya'll doing something wrong. Uber is right and can do what they want because ya'll agreed to a TOS. Uber is doing it legally."
      LOL! I swear, you can't make this shit up. These are the type of drivers that think EVERYTHING a corporate writes on paper is THE LAW. Corporations are sneaky, which is why we have laws to make sure they stay in line with legit business.

    I’ve been saying that for so long. I noticed before the pandemic that anything said on CZcams the TOS would be updated. A lot of social media and regulations is how the apps run today. 11:35 Non of it is for drivers. These apps worked hard to hide as much information as they can until regulation stepped in. We all need to find our way, our money because before long these apps will do it for us. I do love the apps and love being an app worker but they are making it tough!

    • @MicDropBBQ
      @MicDropBBQ  Před 23 dny +1

      The apps are just tech. We are contractors that use LEAD FINDING APPS to find us leads for the business we are in. We are in logistics and delivery, and we find apps that CUSTOMERS use to say, "...hey, I'm looking for a contractor that can do this for me...do you know of one?". Then they send a contractor to do the job.
      They are a LEAD FINDING SERVICES. They generate leads for contractors, and that's it. They are nothing more. We are the true wealth of this industry, not TECH. They could have left Minneapolis and the city would have been find doing what they do without Uber or Lyft.

    • @MicDropBBQ
      @MicDropBBQ  Před 24 dny +3

      Literally impossible. We were arguing about that today, actually. See, the apps take 25% off the top, then claim they take up to 30% of the fare after that. That's more than 50%, no matter how you cut it. But we know they sometimes dig even MORE out, so the driver walks away with 30% of the rider paid in MANY instances, and that's not gonna work. We're doing the actual service. All they did was FIND A RIDE for someone that NEEDED A RIDE. They didn't do shit. They get a finder's fee or a service fee for using the app...and that fee CANNOT BE $40!!! That's not a damn FEE! That's ROBBERY!
      A fee is like $5....$10. If they wanna pay us all the money and allow us to get our own commercial insurance, I'm game for that! We'll all make more if we weren't walking off with 30% of what the damn riders were paying. We're not business owners at that point. We're SLAVES.

      Yup. Purging the system to create space for cheaper labor. Now you know why they went to contactless delivery. Drop and run is easy when you're using people that can't speak the same language. Half the issues these delivery apps have are because the driver drops and leaves, then the customer is like, "...this isn't what I ordered...this is missing...", and they gotta contact DD or UberEats. Back in the day, folk would talk face to face and give you $10 cash to go back to the store, which was more than the $6 the app even paid you! LOL!
      Contactless screwed it up and made the process worse for everyone, but better for the apps because they can use immigrants now...especially on grocery orders Half the shit be wrong and the customer gotta call Spark.

Uber has never given any upfront details as drivers. It like you’ve been saying Jeff Uber is Lyft, and Lyft is Uber, they’re one and the same company. Well that just seals the deal for me I won’t be driving any longer. Not going to places unknown for peanuts. The NYC region is massive and I’m not taking a 3 hour trip to way out in king island or south jersey and not know about it. That was one of the reasons why I drove for Lyft more was because of the upfront fares. But since they want to be like Uber then I’m done driving. Just gonna focus on working my main job for now on.

      These rides are not based on a SINGULAIR rate. It's a price the algorithm fixes to send to which driver will 1) take the ride, and 2) possibly take it at the lowest rate, leaving higher profits. They try low AR drivers with a shitty fare, first. then they push to a higher AR with a worse fare knowing that driver is a sure bet.
      Getting low AR drivers to take shitty fares is their goal. They know high AR always gon be there, so they ain't worried.

      Doubt it. When you see what the RIDER PAID, you're not getting 70% If the rider pays $100, Lyft takes 25% of that $100 in their initial fees: that leaves you you with $75. Then Lyft claims they give you 70% of that $75. That means you will get $52.50 out of that $100 the rider paid.

      You gotta use Uber Pet to grab those surges. They have it set to where if you have any other ride on, they're gonna pull the surge. Uber Pet (paw patrol is what we call it in all of our videos) is how we snag surges. Otherwise, they're gonna keep doing the yo-yo shit to keep you in the area, then send you a ride with NO SURGE added!
      The moment you drop that ride off 10 miles down the road, you'll look back and see the surge at $20 to get you back over there. LOL! You end up back where you started, making NO MONEY. Therefore, you gotta beat the system by using paw patrol.

    They replied and refused. They changed their reasoning for their deactivation on the grounds of safety concerns.

They are playing games with contractors for a reason. Something is going on, and they're gonna pay for it. American laws are against corporations that retaliate and play anti-competition games, etc. They will be fined - and they think DRIVERS are gonna pay for that fine. Nope. We're gonna take the clients OFF the app and into our private base if the app isn't paying fairly for the ride.
